Max Brenner

A Saturday night visit after dinner for a little bit of dessert. The restaurant was a little messy, so we made the decision to eat outside even though it was a very cold night — thank god for our warm jackets & scarves.
Unfortunately I am unable to review the food as waiting in line for over 5 minutes & noticing that not one of the frustrated patrons in front of us were getting served, we decided not to waste our lives in a queue and walked out.

We visited on Sunday morning around 10:30 and it was relatively quiet but we still had to wait 15 minutes for our coffees to be made and delivered. The time they took to make our drinks did not help get the order right the drinks were right however they mixed the sizes up. The cappuccino tasted like warm milk not even a hint of coffee.
Avoid at all costs.

Located near to Parramatta train station and bus interchanges is another location for Max Brenner.
Had been wanting to try the 80’s milkshake since my last visit and here I came for it. Wasn’t too crowded and got myself a seat quickly after ordering my dessert.
While ordering, I was told that I could only swipe my credit card with a minimum of $ 10. Hence I added another chocolate soufflé to try.
Waited for 20 minutes before my items arrived even though they were at the counter for a good 5 – 7 minutes. The servers were either giving others their orders first or cleaning up tables.
My milkshake which came with a scoop of ice cream was overflowing as the ice cream was melting. I like the milkshake but might have to try out the original chocolate shake the next round.
The soufflé was actually like a lava cake. Was soft in terms of texture but wasn’t too sweet for my liking. Normally I tend to get white chocolate related items but this is definitely a good dessert to try.
Overall, even though I was given my food late (minus a star), I still like what I ordered. The floor was a little sticky too. Maybe in terms of tranquility inside the store, I would probably choose the castle hill one.

Of the three Max Brenner cafes I have been to, Parramatta’s is the best.
I dropped in late Friday night with my daughter after a bus from Liverpool and headed straight over to Max Brenner for coffee. The line was a little long but it’s worth the wait. Especially when you get to watch them make all that yummy yummy delicious chocolate foods.
Our service was professional with a good around of cappuccinos with chocolate. Well received after failing to attend a movie at Casula due the car breaking down on the way there and now humbly sits, waiting for me to return. The coffee went down well. Very well. As did the chocolate side of life.
Always a good spot and their chocolate pizzas are fantastic. Something we tried on the first visit.

I stopped by the Parramatta location with my wife on a rainy Saturday evening for some hot chocolate to bring into the movies with us. The location was bustling, the line was long, but we were willing to wait and miss the previews so that I could get my hot chocolate fix.
I don’t know if the recipe for their Mexican Spicy hot chocolate varies from location to location, but this location’s sucked ass. For a chocolate place, you would think this one thing would be hard to mess up. The drink was very ‘meh’ and tasted very watered down. I would have been better off stopping by the grocers for some powdered mix and jug of hot water.

I preferably eating outdoor café like in the atreet but this place is quite nice as they have amazing chocolate making n I love how they serve it n the mug they use for drink is just lovely

On a scale of 1 to 10, how popular is this place? Hands down a 10.
Is it any good? Personally, it’s just OK. Gloria Jeans is way better.
Yes, it is known for its extensive list of chocolates ranging from hot choco to chocolate pancakes.
Is it worth it? Possibly. If you’re a chocolate fanatic slash chocoholic.
Price? Decent enough which is good.
My two cents? Hot chocolate = not that great. I’d rather go home and make myself a hot milo chocolate than waste my money on theirs. It doesn’t taste that good and it doesn’t look appealing either.
Why so popular? There are only a few Max Brenner places here in Sydney. I even invited my cousins from America to try it out and they agree with me that the food/​drinks there weren’t that great and that my mom’s hot choco is better.
The place itself is nice but over crowded. As I said, it is really popular. Especially at night time! It’s located at Westpoint shopping centre, at the rooftop. So parking wise, it’s easy (3hrs parking is free). There are other coffee shops that you can try out if the place gets too full.
Service? Not so great to be honest. They forgot my hot choco and my friends brownies. I’m guessing due to it being a busy place and all so I can forgive them for that.
But if you are a chocolate lover then by all means go :) You’ll probably enjoy it more than me and appreciate their menu as well.

Good place filled with hipsters. Yummy chocolate pizza, chococolate shots, and other delectable, bad-​for-​you chocolate goodies.

Nothing but love for this place, delicious food and friendly staff. Only complaint is the minimum purchase to use eftpos but I’ve had that at other store so it’s probably company policy

Max Brenner is my sometimes food. I love the variety they have to offer and the staff here were always good. I haven’t been here in a while but I have never had an issue at the Parramatta location.

So I normally love Max Brenner as evidenced by my review of the Castle Towers branch (
) but my first time at the Parramatta branch didn’t go so well when we decided to try the new additions to the menu and forgo my ever faithful tutti-​frutti waffles.
SPOT THE DIFFERENCE
Let’s play a game. Spot the difference between these two pictures
The waitress that was serving us failed the game even when my friend awkwardly gave her a clue by pointing out that the waffle pieces were missing. Apparently she thought it was meant to look like the first photo. Eventually we called someone else over who gave us a free waffle filled replacement. As for the dessert itself I wasn’t a fan of the crunchy waffle balls and unfortunately had trouble picking them off.
The other one we tried was the chocolate cookie ice-​cream sandwich. The cookie was really hard which made it difficult to eat as a sandwich. Nothing like the soft cookie sandwiches at Diddy Reise in LA where you can mix and match your cookie flavours and ice-​cream flavours for only $ 1.50! But back to Max Brenner’s version. It came with sprinkles and chocolate dipping sauce which confused me as I wasn’t sure what I was meant to do with them. Pour the sprinkles on the ice-​cream part of the cookie? Drizzle the chocolate sauce over the cookie for extra chocolate goodness? Odd.
VERDICT
Sticking with the old familiar menu and not coming back on a Friday night (we were there almost until it closed and getting a seat was still proving to be difficult for people coming in).

Having spent a lot of time in Parramatta, it’s inevitable that I ended up in Max Brenner’s more than once.
One word; delicious.
*Everything* is delicious. The waitstaff are fun (and, inexplicably good looking!) and helpful, even if the service is a little slow.
Anything you order will come dripping in chocolate. How to eat this chocolate, you ask? You may, like me, try to lick it straight off the plate like an animal in your desperation to get to it…
Don’t do that. It’s unbecoming.
Ask for a ‘lickety stick’! I know, I know, it sounds dirty. The waitstaff know it sounds dirty, and will not let you get out of saying it. You’re just going to have to bite the bullet, and ask for one, if you want to eat like a civilised person.
Proceed to eat all the chocolate off your plate!
The only problem I foresee; difficulty in choosing what to order, because goddamn, it all looks so good!
