As a cheapskate, the things that draw me to eating the delicious cuisines of South East Asia is how inexpensive they are and their spicy, exotic flavours. Wok In A Box flips this on its’ head. The noodles and curries are bland to say the least, putting me in mind of an in-flight meal on a budget Indonesian airline. It’s Asian food as re-imagined for Westerners who are a bit freaked out by Asian food. Plus the prices are up there with other overpriced franchise takeouts. I don’t understand why you would pay more money for a lower quality product, but people do. There’s a thousand alternatives in walking distance, from Thai To Go down the bottom of the hill to the perfectly decent Chinese restaurant near the Shell servo across the road.
