I used to live near Melville Plaza and would lament the fact that I couldn’t find decent coffee in walking distance, so when Bean Scene opened just after I left the area I was a little annoyed. Seriously, one week earlier and I could have been wombling down to the shops to sit in its’ pleasantly plastic environs, sipping on a latte and eating some satisfying biscuits. Alas, ’twas not to be. Nonetheless, I’ve stopped here every so often when I’ve had to pick up some shopping and the coffee is very consistent. It’s actually better than a lot of joints in Freo. I haven’t eaten here, but they also do lunches and morning tea-type-treats. My advice is to grab a coffee and biscuit and head for the outside chairs, as the shopping centre carpark is a great source of amusement. You’ll discover that Melville Plaza is frequented by people who suck at parking. Worth checking out.
