Amazing food and quick service. Perfect if you’re going to an event at Perth arena and want to grab a bite to eat first. Choose from tapas style small Plates or from mains, with yummy sides and a huge drinks menu to boot! We will be back!

We stopped for lunch here after shopping in the city and discovered an excellent selection of $ 12 lunch specials. My husband had the spicy fried chicken burger and it came on a deliciously soft bun with coleslaw and a spicy sauce. I went for two chicken tacos and they were in a soft GF tortilla with a yummy corn salsa. If you are vegan I might suggest giving this place a miss as they always have a rotisserie pig happening in full view of the restaurant. It is like a lava lamp in that it is quite mesmerizing, but also pretty confronting, even for an omnivore like me.

It’s not often that I leave a hospitality venue with nothing in terms of ‘constructive criticism’ on how things could have been ‘better’. I don’t mean that I verbalise these thoughts in plaintive moans to restaurant management. Rather, I think to myself frustratedly; ‘…if ONLY they had chilled the water’, ‘One piece of halloumi is definitely too stingy’ or ‘Man, that butter was too hard to spread’. You get me, right? Little details make the experience. I’m happy to say that Pleased to Meet You(PTMY) was one of those rare places that ticked all the boxes on a balmy Monday night. The beers were cold, the food was delicious, the service was attentive(right down to appropriate beer suggestions) and their whipped maple butter? It should totally be a food group. Soft, creamy, salty-but-sweet perfection on a plate. My latest visit to PTMY was driven by the need to find a ‘city meat joint’ for dinner with a visiting chef friend of mine from NSW. It was a toss up between this place and another bearded hipster venue on King St(you know the one) but as the latter was closed on Mondays, PTMY scored. Being $ 10 Monday steak night, I was a little uncertain as to whether we’d get a table but… eating early is a winner, folks. We were immediately seated and introduced to the beverage list. As many other Unilocalers have stated, PTMY is a fusion central and Southern American restaurant and bar with emphasis on slow cooked meats, chipotle rubs, South American breads, hot sauce and piquant chimichurri. They describe their food as ‘indoor food truck’(which explains a few odd items such as Asian pork-stuffed bao and san choi bau) with table service. Upon entry, your eyes will immediately be drawn to the daily suckling pig that pops and crackles over glowing hot coals in the corner, its shiny crackling dripping with liquefied fat(yeah, no acai bowls here). Being a party of eight, we immediately decided that en-masse sharing was the way to go. Orders for cornbread with maple butter($ 6), fried Navajo bread and bean salsa($ 14), spicy wings and waffles($ 12), watermelon and goats curd salad($ 9), ‘pork fingers with BBQ mayo’($ 9.50) and beef tongue ‘Reuben’ bao($ 6 ea) were chucked at the waiter alongside mandatory requests for the ‘$ 10 daily steak’ and the Linley Valley coal-roasted suckling pig($ 14 per 100g). Wow. The food was delivered swiftly and steadily, in a sensible ‘succession’ for eating(Navajo bread and wings first, gradually followed by other finger foods, salad and lastly, the steak and roast pork). Everything was delicious, characterised by melt-in-your mouth meats, spicy condiments, pillowy bao and crunchy crackling, soft, sweet cornbread slathered in moreish maple butter and hot sriracha. SOFREAKIN’ GOOD. The drinks service was also fantastic. The affable barman, Kip, replenished beers whenever we wanted them. He was also more than happy to give personal recommendations(even for ‘the best beer in the world!’ — Negra Modelo, a 5.4% toffee-hued, smoky Dunkel-style Mexican dark beer) whilst making dangerously perfect whisky sours. Empty bottles were also cleared in good time. By the end of the evening, there was little room for dessert but a dining companion of mine ordered the ‘s’mores($ 8) with fresh-baked graham crackers, toasted housemade marshmallows and a soft, richly dense chocolate mousse. I was also curious about the ‘ice cream nachos’, but… well, maybe next time. When I haven’t scoffed a whole dang basket of fried bread and maple butter. It’s definitely not health food central, but PTMY slow-roasts comfort food to absolute oily, crispy, spice-rubbed perfection, accentuated by top-notch service. I can’t wait to go back(perhaps after visiting the gym).

I have left well pleased after each and every visit to this fresh and lively establishment! It gives you a rush as soon as you walk in the door — you are welcomed by the friendly staff, the tunes are pumping and the lush wall of greenery is a real talking point! I see it as a living and breathing feature and would love to have something similar at my own place. Unfortunately I do not have a green thumb and sadly the plants would be dead within a week! The food is so delicious, you will soon become a regular. So far I have enjoyed the pork slider, which was a brioche filled with tender pulled pork and also the beef tongue Reuben. I can also recommend the wonderful cornbread, served warm with a quenelle of maple butter. However the pièce de resistance at Pleased to Meet You is, of course, the coal roasted, suckling pig. I was truly mesmerized by the sight of it, glistening, golden and smelling amazing as it turned round and round on the spit. I had to have some and boy oh boy, it was the most succulent, tender pork I have ever tasted! It is accompanied by a large, crispy piece of crackling. Another standout dish is the Navajo fried bread — large, crisp, fried pillows served with an amazing salsa. It was a toss up between the ice cream nachos and the S’mores and I chose the S’mores. It certainly was a sweet ending to a great meal! The cocktails are beautifully presented and made with passion by the talented bar staff. My favourite so far is Tijuana Tommy’s Margarita — a truly tasty frozen margarita made with tequila, agave nectar, triple sec and lime. The black salt on the rim added another dimension to the taste sensation. I found the Coco Loco and the Peaches and Co to be chilled, refreshing and great summertime cocktails. On every occasion I have enjoyed wonderful service and have found the staff friendly and engaging. I was truly impressed that the gorgeous, young lass remembered me from my last visit. Really touched that she even remembered what I had eaten and where I had sat! The service does not falter whether you are just there with one other person or with a large group of people. I was there with twelve of my work colleagues on a busy Friday evening and we were served very promptly. So kudos to the Manager and the crew! I was there last night and I am already planning my next visit, working my way down the cocktail menu and eager to try the ice cream nachos!

The atmosphere at Pleased To Meet You is a beautiful thing — Great vibes, great tunes and great style. My favourite drink there is the White Sangria punch bowl at $ 25 its great value! The menu is mostly small stuff — sliders, bahn mhi, etc. It would be great to see more vegetarian options. Unfortunately the food can be a bit hit and miss — The sliders are great, and sometimes the fries are good. When we had the SP Squid bahn mhi, there was barley any squid and heaps of mint and corriander, so I didn’t enjoy it. I will visit here again, just because I have such a great time when ever I go.

It’s a restaurant called Please To Meet You — how could you NOT want to go?! Late on a Saturday night we were welcomed with open arms by fun and friendly staff and fun 90s RNB tunes — a perfect combination. The menu is intriguing, a mix of classic American(think corn bread and pulled pork sliders) but mixed with classic Asian dishes too(san choi bao and ceviche) — a combo I haven’t seen anywhere else. Those with a passion for meat will be impressed by the Pig on a Spit, proudly turning over heat behind the bar. We went with the Navajo fried bread and salsa — which was disgustingly delicious but a heart attack on a plate, the S&P Squid Banh Mi and a Steak Nachos special. The latter was an absolute standout and was served in a cute red plastic basket. My only beef with Pleased to Meet You was that there was only one female toilet — ONE. Us ladies need more, please.

This place has a very modern almost hipster type vibe. I loved that the menu was written up in such a large chalk font that even short sighted people like me could see it easily. Was dying to try both the s’mores and icecream nachos but settled on the s’mores. They were extremely decadent, the mousse was chocolatey and rich, the biscuits had an interesting ginger tang and the caramel and toasted marshmallows completed the dish. I could only eat two-thirds and I’m extremely capable at eating desserts! It’s a great place to stop as we did before heading to Paradiso to watch a French film. I would suggest ordering several different items and sharing like we did as all the serves are generous!

Great range of drinks, fast service with amazing food. Reasonably well priced and consistently delicious. My suggestion, ramen and burger. Desserts are a little interesting, be prepared for an untraditional version. Definitely worth having dinner or lunch here!

Was looking forward to eating here after hearing all the positive talk, hype and reviews about it, after my first visit I left thinking it was very overrated. There’s no sign outside either which seems to be becoming a trend in Perth. You have to know where it is. It’s a very cool and busy venue, loved the music that was playing but wasn’t a big fan of the mainly high table and stool seating. Thankfully we got seating near the front window which had normal sized seats. There’s plenty of menus on hand and cutlery. I ordered a passion pop cocktail and whilst it was reasonably priced it came in a smallish metal cup which I loved but there wasn’t much liquid in it, it was mainly ice, so that was a bit disappointing. Then we had the sliders which were also not that great, very oily/greasy brioche buns and whilst there was enough filling it were quite tasteless. Then came the smores. Omg, massive serving. Loved the marshmallows, the ginger biscuits and the caramel foam but didn’t love the chocolate, it was very rich. We had a really lovely waitress which was great though. I am going to give this place another go and hopefully I won’t leave disappointed again.

The menu is written on a blackboard with chalk, not great for the short-sighted. Exposed bricks, aircon vents, low hanging light fittings, and wooden ceiling beams are all the rage in Perth. It gets a little boring when you see it time and time again. The drinks prices are quite standard. The airy and lightly salted pork crackling($ 8) reminded me of the Philippines, much more expensive but delicious with fresh avo dip! The pulled pork sliders($ 8 each) were a little too sweet for my liking, as were the beef tongue bao($ 6 each). The banh mi(Vietnamese roll)($ 8) was tiny, the salt and pepper squid inside was a bit dry, the bread was no good, it needed more pickles, and honestly nothing can beat roast pork banh mi. The mussels($ 22.50) were salty with good chunks of chorizo — I wished for more tomato sauce, but the bread was too crunchy to absorb it. The crispy bubbled skin and flavoursome meat of the suckling pig(100g for $ 14) paired well with the punchy mint vinaigrette. Service was friendly and attentive. You have to stare at the blackboard near the counter and order at the counter(plus leave your credit card behind the bar). The food was quite tasty but also expensive, around $ 35-$ 40 per person. I might not return to Pleased to Meet You too quickly for dinner, but this would probably be a great spot for Friday night drinks and nibbles!

From the outside it doesn’t look like much, but it’s a pretty funky little spot. Don’t try and take your darling there for a romantic night though, it certainly doesn’t offer you much privacy. The whole place is set with about 4 long tables and your often placed with people very close to you. Getting out to visit the bar or the restroom usually involves a few«excuse me» to the other guests at your table so you can squeeze past. The food was good, would I recommend it or be back there in a hurry? Not likely. It wasn’t terrible and definitely not a danger zone, but I’ve been to better in the area.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Pleased to Meet You. I was searching for ramen places for dinner, and Unilocal directed me to this joint. Note, though, that this NOT a ramen place — but it does sell ramen. Specifically, one kind of ramen. Place was a little hard to find, and I wasn’t sure if it was open when I went(around 5:30PM on a Sunday night — hey, I had only flown in from Sydney so my body clock was telling me 7:30). But it was — there weren’t a lot of people there, though. The guy at the cashier was super nice and helped me decide. I got the ramen — it was a roast pork ramen — and he recommended the fried bread with salsa. The fried bread was super tasty… and it is a good appetizer, through probably too much if only one person’s eating it! :P I had to stop after eating most of it though, because it was a tad oily and that kinda got to me. The ramen was delish. Now, this is not your authentic ramen, but it was pretty good. The mushrooms had been marinated in some kind of sour sauce, so it was very tangy, which was unusual. But the pork… oh man, the pork… it was the softest, most tender chashu ever. EVER. It beat Ippudo, in my humble opinion. Yum. I left very satisfied, and will definitely pop by again if I’m in town.

I need all the lights. This joint has the best lighting ever! I could gush about it for hours. Because of their excellent lighting choices, I can forgive their awful Bloody Mary making skills. It was the worst Bloody Mary I’ve had to date, but luckily, everything else was a win. The food is super tasty. The pulled pork sliders were amazing! So juicy and dripping in sauce. I also really enjoyed the beef tongue bao. I hear they make a mean chicken burger for lunch so I’m desperate to go back. The wine list is so-so, but they carry an excellent German Riesling. It was pricey, but an outstanding wine. This place got packed to the brim, but they were still willing to accommodate us split-billers. It just makes the whole experience so much nicer. All in all, you get a high five from me. I was very pleased to meet you.

You will find decent food and cocktails here :) friendly staff also. I’ve been on two occasions and I must admit the food is awesome. Everything I’ve tried has tasted great. The only thing I will note is that although the staff do mention the whole share/tapas style dining, the portion sizes don’t really reflect this. But that’s just my opinion… maybe I eat too much. If you’re in a group and do want to share, you’d want to order multiples of each dish to ensure everyone gets a decent portion. I was happy to order my own food items and enjoyed the suckling pig, fries and a s&p squid bahnmi all to myself haha. that was a total of $ 30, so you can see how the bill can add up quite fast. I must say, the suckling pig was great, and I would come back just to order another plate all to myself.

Ive been wanting to try Pleased to Meet You for so long and recently did with a few friends on a Friday night. We went about 6.30pm and didn’t have to wait for a table but I can imagine some days it may take a little longer, especially more towards 7.30ish. It is set up with long tables which you share with other people so it was a little crammed in there and I have to admit the music and other people talking loud where I felt like I couldn’t hear what my friends were saying across the table so probably not best to go if you are wanting a catch up with friends but more one on one or for a quick bite to eat. I got the pulled pork slider which was soooooooo good, raw beef san choy bau and duck tacos which were delicious and the coconut ceviche– this I wasn’t such a fan of as it wasn’t like the usual ceviche that I’ve had, rather more a soup with raw fish it in that you had to fish around for. I was a bit surprised at the price of meals especially for the serving sizes, for example I paid $ 9 for the slider, expecting a least two or three and got one tiny slider. At other places you can buy a full sized burger for this much! but it was very good. Overall I liked the place and I would go back but maybe with less people.

I’ve wanted to check this place out for ages and finally I went. I would of never known it existed from the front and I never walk down Roe street so it was a nice little surprise. I will definitely be back, maybe not when I’m starving because I thought the meal sizes were quit small but definitely for the drinks and a bite to eat before going out. The drink menu is massive !!! And the food is very different and makes you want to try everything on the menu. I had the garlic mussels and then we shared a nacho ice cream which is fun to eat for the novelty of having ice cream on nachos but I wouldn’t order it again, I wasn’t that big of a fan of the actual taste. Same with the smores they lacked a bit of taste. The venue is really awesome with stool seating, dark lights and heaps of brick and wood everywhere. I am so glad I went and can’t wait to go back.

So i revisited pleased to meet you with a girlfriend last night and the food was still really good, as were their cocktails however, what i missed from the last time i was there was the price. I found it quite expensive and even for exceptional food, i found it a little on the pricey side. All the small bites stuff was single serve only, so $ 8 for a single duck taco was a bit much. However. the food was still up to scratch. Yum The sliders, and suckling pig is still a fave for me.

Th food is amazing, simple and relatively cheap. It’s unfortunate that one of the bar staff was quite rude and not willing to help my friend with her Rum selection. Seating is quite tight and you’re siting elbow to elbow with a random but it’s worth it for the amazing music, coal roasted pork and pork crackle with avocado dip. They open at 5pm, so the earlier the better.

As others have mentioned Northbridge is the best thing Perth has to offer, once really a significantly asiany destination with quirky shops and bubbleteas, china town and many other vietnamese, Chinese, Japanese, Korean food shops and restaurants. step a bit in the future and we are still keeping this hip asian culture but mixing it up with fresh hip shops, graffiti and massive amounts of street cred and culture. I thought it was a great venue we were recommended to go to for y birthday dinner, we wanted –new –hip –central city location –recommendation based on food we were not disappointed. we ordered a large array of food to share… and not share. The menu is a wall print, however– we had a piece of paper menu on our table and i couldn’t seethe menu well so i asked for another menu at the bar only to be told by a passing waiter they don’t have menus they are on the wall(funny considering just before this in my hand was that same golden ticket Charlie) oh well, I got on with reading the wall and then ordering at the till which is what they are aiming for. look at the menu and order right next to it at the till but seeing as we came with a group we wanted to discuss what we were getting, talk about it, share options, not really an easy thing to do bunched up at the entrance to a restaurant while new eaters are trying to come in. this wasn’t ideal. the food was lovely and promptly served to the table. we ordered –pork crackers avo dip. –good, should have used fresh pork crackling not pub packet style dried, def took away the idea of crackling from me when i got it. –navajo fry bread, salsa,(really nice bread, salsa tasted pizza basey still really good) –cornbread, maple(best dish amazing sooo tasty warm, butter to die for) –suckling pig –not dr really tasty and moist and flavoursome. $ 14 for 100g that’s an expensive 1KG pig not sure if it was worth that much by the 100g in that case. –habenero whole baby chicken(undercooked entirely through, not a tasty tasty flavour i thought, inside was still a gizzard kidney/heart? didn’t care to look closely so poor kitchen skills aswell i thought with that. –watermelon salad spicy really tasty everyone loved even non watermeloners. overall we ignored how crummy the chicken was and everything was really really good, the smaller stuff made the night, loved the setting tables, seats could do with a back if you are spending more than 1.5 hrs here nacho icecream and smores desserts were epic would come again just for this!

Northbridge is just getting better and better. Already my favourite area of Perth, new openings like Pleased To Meet You are just the cherry on top of my Northbridge Sundae. The interior is nice, retaining some of the old building’s charm with some exposed red brick walls, and pretty fly furnishings, without trying too hard to be cool. The food was good, though the ramen and the mussels weren’t very good. I wasn’t a fan of having to order at the bar, once for drinks then once for food. It kind of ruins the leisurely vibe of dining out, if you have to go up every time you might want a new drink or dish. Would also be cool if they had some more non-stool seating. For people with little legs like me it isn’t very comfortable to sit on tall stool, but hey that’s just coz I have crazy short legs. Staff were lovely and the prices were pretty standard, I’m sure I’ll be back a lot.
