Best dim sum in Perth. It’s a weekend tradition to line up for dimsum, expect about a 20 minute wait. But once you’re seated, the food comes around really quickly. Their hargao, Sui mai, squid tentacles are really delicious. Also love the yam balls here This place also does delicious snow crabs for dinner

This place has the best yum Cha in Perth! And the best tasting yum Cha I’ve had in Australia! Yes, it tasted better than all those fancy Chinese restaurants in Sydney. This is the go-to place for a quick late lunch after tutorials for my friends and I. The services are great if you know what you are doing and what you want to order. The food simply amazing and ingredients are fresh. This restaurant has a very good reputation among the Chinese community too!

When you walk in and realize most customers here are Asian, you know this is the right place to go.

Best yum Cha in Perth. I’ve eaten a lot of yum Cha in my day(and I have the fat pants to prove it). This place always has a giant queue out the front but they have a ticketing system in place and it’s worth the wait. Don’t miss out on the roast pork. You usually have to ask for it as they don’t alway bring it round. Delicious!!!

Really great dim sum restaurant. Huge variety that keeps coming. Soft shell crab, roast duck, roast pork all so good. I must say the xiao long bao(shangai dumplings) are the best I have had(so far) in Perth that melt in your mouth. Of course, I am comparing to Ding Tai Fung in Sydney that is king of xiao long bao. Great atmosphere, attentive wait staff, overall good experience.

Always wondered why there’s a long queue every weekend at brunch time. After visiting here few days ago for yum Cha, I’m even more puzzled. The food is good but not great. Pieces of dim sum(点心) is fairly large portioned. Firstly, dim sum is not suppose to be huge but dainty. They definitely didn’t stinge on ingredients ie prawns in har gow(prawn dumplings). Some of the flavours in the dim sums isn’t as authentic as other yum cha places. Wonder if their chefs are cantonese or vietnamese. I don’t mind paying if I feel satisfied. I’m full but something isn’t quite right. $ 67 for 5 which isn’t bad for northbridge standards. The atmosphere in the restaurant is plain & very bright white. Service is mundane. So this is a Monday… but wondered if I had queued on the weekend & gotten OK food &OK served, would I hv a different outcome or would I be utterly gutted?

How have I missed this gem for so long! ONEOFTHETOPDIMSUMSPOTSINTOWN! Pretty much enough said, usual range of dim sum goodies at reasonable prices. Food is top quality and it does stop coming! Fairly popular though, so as with all good dim sum spots be prepared to wait if you don’t get in early! Rest assured once youre in side its definitely worth it! Planning my next trip back!

It’s always a good sign of an Asian restaurant when all the clientele are Asian. It’s a good indication that you’re in for an authentic meal and when the menu says chilli, it will probably make your eyes water. We dropped into the huge restaurant for a late night Friday feed. We ordered a spicy and saucy Ma Po Tofu and a black pepper prawn claypot dish. Both dishes had a great kick and were filling and full of flavour. I hear they are a great choice for yum cha! I’m keen to drop by on a weekend to test it out.

On the first Sunday of March a group of my friends decided we’d get together for dim-sum/yum-cha in Northbridge. We all have our favourite places, but the host decided we’d visit Northbridge Chinese Restaurant which I had yet to visit. We somehow managed to reserve a table for 13 people for 11:00am which I’m told is not common. A few of our guests were running late so we kept getting asked to move and whether out guests were going to arrive. After a while the employees got so persistent and pushy about it we couldn’t work out why they were so desperate to kick us off our table even though most of us were there. What we eventually worked out was that the person who took the booking thought we’d said 30 people, so they were holding 3 big tables for us whilst the crowd waiting outside kept growing. Needless to say we all laughed it off and the serves all apologised for the misunderstanding. After we resolved that issue we really had a wonderful time. The food kept flowing, and every server stopped at our table to ask if we wanted what they had to offer. We ended up completely stuffing ourselves with a variety of tasty dishes from BBQ pork buns to various dumplings, desserts and even chicken feet. We ended up paying just under paid $ 27 each for our share of food and drinks which was very reasonable with the amount of food we ordered. I’ve had quite a few dim-sum/yum-cha experiences throughout Perth and I can honestly say that Northbridge Chinese Restaurant is quite up there when it comes to the food and service. I’ll be putting it in my top 5 as I have had experienced slightly better food before(I judge this on the quality of squid tentacles which were quite hard and gummy, though the various steamed dumplings were good), but overall it’s quite a good yum-cha/dim-sum place.

Subpar dim sum(some inedible) and bad service! We stopped coming here years ago because of that and it obviously hasn’t changed!

What happened! It use to be better then this or maybe i wasn’t use to better quality that can be found in Perth. After waiting for half an hour to get in we got the awesome toilet seats. The food was not the best pork buns were not as good as i remembered and the dumplings where quite bland the tea we got mush have been bottom of the bag leafs because i spent more time pulling tea leafs out of my mouth then drinking it. Would recommend going to regal on roe next door for better quality.

I am so darn picky with my Dim Sum choices, and every time I come to this place I feel like it’s the benchmark to compare to! As mentioned in some of the previous reviews I too feel like the quality has dropped, but it hasn’t dropped so much that I don’t return. Northbridge Chinese Restaurant would probably see me dining there at least twice a month! The wait on the weekends can get a bit hectic! I went on a Sunday just after 10am and waited 15mins. But as I was eating I could see the line grow! Be sure to get in quick and tell the main waiter at the door with the ticket book how many people for the table so he can give you a ticket to reserve your spot! There were masses or people waiting inside and outside the door! Standout dishes at this place was the softshell crab, sui mai, watermelon juice, pork spare ribs, tripe and ginger and the fried squid! :) I do always get a hit and miss with the jellyfish and chicken salad, my one I received today was still thawing out! The feel of biting into ice can ruin the dish! I walked out full and overall we paid $ 138 for 5 people, and I was pretty happy with that! :) Service is good though could be improved– they only speak to me in Chinese though because they think that I am, don’t know to be offended or complimented? Haha! But they do try accommodate as best they can for anyone and everyone! If you don’t know where to go and have a bit of time to explore for Yum Cha/Dim Sum– this is the place I recommend!

I don’t often do yum cha but on the odd occasion that I do, this is always the place that my friends pick for the eating frenzy. The food comes around on trolleys in their bamboo steamers that you can pick and choose from. I recommend heading here here with yum cha veterans who can expertly pick the dishes for the table! I’m a fan of the salt and pepper squid legs, the steamed pork buns and get a fresh watermelon juice for a touch of sweetness. Head here with a group of friends as the food is to be shared and it’s a lot of fun! We usually roll out of the restaurant stuffed silly for around $ 20 a head. Bargain.

NCR(northbridge Chinese restaurant) in my opinion was the only place in Perth that offered a decent dim sum fare. However the quality of the dishes have dropped in the last 2 years leaving this customer rather unsatisfied. I still think their stir fried Chinese radish cake(loh bak koh) is a standout and their fried squid can be, good at times. Everything else is at best average in comparison to its Perth counterparts. Expect to wait between 15 – 45 mins during the weekend for a table. Service is as expected not great but very few dim sum restaurants offer good service.

I’m not sure I understand the rave reviews, but I have no pressing complaints. The menu was a little hard for us to decode, and service was slow, servers were curt. We had some trouble communicating with our servers, so we kind of just picked our entrees randomly. The interior’s very typical for a hole in the wall, and definitely a change from the type of atmosphere you’d find in a trendy Asian fusion place. This is… Asian, and very authentic. We had the noodles with chicken and clay pot beef brisket, which were good, but nothing I’d return for. The table cleaning procedure: clear dishes, flick off any bits of food with fingers, reset table. I think this would be a much better place for a group of 5 – 8 as many of those seemed to be enjoying themselves with dim sum and such. We went early around 6:30pm and didn’t have a problem getting seated; most of the restaurant was fairly empty. Nothing special, no objections. Good for: groups, family night, dim sum Not recommended for: date night, speedy meals

I pretty much use the Northbridge Chinese Restaurant as my benchmark to compare all the other dim sum places around Perth. I really like this place. I understand that a lot of people might not BUT… especially for the first timers to dim sum(especially to the Northbridge Chinese Restaurant) — don’t be precious about it. Dim sum isn’t really one of those ‘take your time to think about what you’d like to eat and discuss news and weather’. Dim sum is pretty much — get in, pick out what you want, and get out. Don’t expect polite service. Expect to be called out to across the room. Don’t expect nice greetings of «would you like to try this?» Expect to be told what it is and simply make a decision with the nod or shake of a head. Expect to be asked the same question(if you want something on a tray) several times during a sitting because the staff do come around more than once. But above all else — Just. Keep. Eating! Don’t expect to be able to rest after your meal either. There are people waiting outside. Dim sum — personally — has always been a business like meal. Get in. Eat. Get out. And that’s probably why I love it. Lol. The best dishes to try are: Soft shell crab, deep fried squid(OMG…I want some right now!) and of course, the rainbow jelly. Prices are pretty reasonable too. You’d be looking at about $ 15-$ 20 per person. They take reservations… but I wouldn’t bother. It’s just as easy to wait with the little raffle ticket: p Oh…and if you can help it, don’t plan anything after dim sum. Sleep is usually the post-dim sum accompaniment.

The first impression I got from this place was that the majority of clientelle were infact Chinese and not just couples or young folk but whole families, the best sign you can ever get from a Chinese restaurant. The menu is extensive and pretty reasonable considering its location. A group of 3, we ordered 2 main dishes and fried rice, not expecting free rice to come with the table to without the rice our dinner would have cost a total of $ 40…on a Saturday night? You can’t get much better than that. The staff are very attentive. The only issue I had was that there was no yum cha, possbile because the place was too busy or maybe they don’t offer it on a Saturday night but if that’s the case I can’t wait to go back another night to indulge.

They squeezed a group of 5 in on a night where they also had a wedding. As mentioned the staff are on the ball and all the food is a delight, and authentic. If your there for dinner, share dishes so you don’t miss out on the great selection. You cannot go wrong. Note Credit Cards can only be used for bills $ 50+

Great range of yum cha offerings. Staff were attentive and offering food every couple of minutes(which actually got a bit annoying) which is good if you are in a group. Had a wide range of food when I visited and my friend and I liked them all. Would definitely recommend for yum cha(I actually went there on a recommendation) but get there early(ie 10.30am) or you will have to line up.

Trolley’s of bamboo baskets are whisked around at an express rate and trays of Chinese savoury pastries, fried squid tentacles and watermelon juice rotate routinely. You will likely be offered the same course of dishes at least half a dozen times in one sitting. This is all part of the madness and the fun of the dim sum experience. Northbridge Chinese Restaurant is more frantic than other dim sum places I’ve been too, and I feel more hurried to eat, which usually leads to more overeating. The fast turnover however, means the dim sum is freshest. The queue of people waiting is evidence to its authenticity. Prawn Dumplings(«Har Gow») are a must and the steamed custard buns are pretty good too. The same can’t be said for the steamed pork buns though; they were too much on the doughy side and not fluffy enough. Sweet and fun too eat are the jelly and sago drinks; layers of multi coloured jelly set underneath coconut milk and sago. Between the five of us we shared about thirteen dim-sum, three sagos and two pots of tea. The bill came to $ 80. Pretty good, we were stuffed!
