Frequented this establishment many times. Marmite chicken is absolutely stunning. My partner and I both dislike Marmite, but this dish is so moorish it should be banned! We also love the beef rendang, the beef is falling apart and blended with the perfect Malaysian spices. I’ve got a real soft spot for the hot red tea with condensed milk(Teh O), my partner however swears by the $ 1 pot of red tea, cheap cheap! Sometimes the food comes out in dribs and drabs and we’ve had some«lost in translation» moments with a few things, but the few foibbles of this restaraunt are almost not worth mentioning as the food is so good! Keep up the great work Hawkers Cuisine.

They are open late and their food is consistently good. We had marmite chicken(fried); crispy pork belly salad; home plate tofu with minced pork; sambal kang kong and we downed this with plain rice. Matched this with the 3 tier tea, which looks pretty and is quite sweet. Comes to about $ 20/pax. If you’ve never been here, look around to see what other people are eating and choose what looks best. Perfect for a loud late night dinner. Their dim sum selection during the weekends is also pretty good.

Having heard so much about this place from. a sydney colleague, I couldn’t wait to try this place for its Malaysian cuisine. A group of five of us went here for a team bonding dinner around 6pm on a Wednesday night. It wasn’t very busy and we were seated straightaway without a booking. The menu is expansive with soups, noodles, chicken dishes, duck, fish, prawns, beef, tofu and veggie options. There are also several appetizers and various kinds of fried rice. The menu also contains lots of interesting drink options like hot or hold Milo, iced tea with and without sugar, iced lychee or longan(basically out of a can) and lemonade with sugar. We ordered the following 1. Marmite chicken 2. Kung po prawns 3. Asian stir fry veggies in oyster sauce 4. Mee goreng 5. Coconut rice 6. Sha cha duck I also got the lemonade for myself. The lemonade turned out to be water with two thin slices of lemon and a dollop of sugar for an outrageous $ 4.50. The kung po prawns which are meant to be spicy were sickly sweet. The Asian veggies were average. I would say the food was average. Was extremely disappointed by the chicken dish. It just tasted like honey chicken. Coconut rice was nice(6⁄10). Some dishes were lacking in flavour while others lacked spice. Left disappointed. And services is below average. They don’t do split bill either. It came out to be around $ 25 each. Go if you want cheap okay tasting malaysian food. If you’re looking for quality and taste this place is not for you.

I had to bring a group of 40+ here for a work dinner and the staff were incredibly patient, friendly and accommodating. Big groups can often be nightmares for restaurants and I’m sure ours(with 8 extra unexpected guests!) was no picnic, but every single staff member was absolutely lovely and we had a great time. The food is cheap, cheerful and delicious(marmite chicken was the winner of the evening). Would highly recommend for big groups.

Good, consistent, cheap food here. Love going back. Service is prompt, but can be busy at times. Groups have been known to wait out the front for a table. Great marmite chicken, butter prawns, and golden soft shell crab.

The food was only average and extremely greasy. Worst of all was the very rude and obnoxious waitress that took our order. She was confrontational, aggressive and extremely unpleasant. We reported her appalling behavior to the manager who seemed to be unconcerned with our terrible experience. Please only dine at this shabby establishment if you do not generally expect good service. We will certainly never ever come back here again nor will we recommend this poor excuse for a restaurant to anyone! There are far better Asian restaurants in Perth that are a lot less frustrating and horrible!

This is the same restaurant that used to be in Chinatown… but have just moved to a bigger location — and rightly so. This place is STILL packed! Because it’s so busy the food will take a bit of time to come out so be aware of that factor. Definitely make a booking for this place too. Prices are very reasonable and having trouble moving after a meal is not unusual(for me anyway). My recommendation is definitely the marmite chicken!

My friends and I have been fellow worshipers of this place and we have never been disappointed. We have been coming here so often that one of the managers(Connie) know us a little too well. Being regular customers she knows our usual; Marmite chicken Samabl Kang Kong Fuzhou Tofu Golden Prawns(without shell) We usually also add one more different dish just to try something new from the very extensive menu. So far their Guinness Pork Chop may become one of our permanent dish adding to the list. Ever since the move the venue is very big, we no longer wait for our table. There is an occasional wait on some busy nights(ie: Saturday and Friday night). However even on quiet nights they still seem to have a steady pace and relatively busy every now and then. When ordering, popular dishes always comes out faster and usually the first. This is probably because the chefs may cook large batches of dishes since they are so popular and so very tasty(refer to list). On busy nights there usually is a rush period so I recommend avoiding the times of 7−8pm on Saturdays and Fridays if you want a table either come before or after. Staff are usually pleasant but very busy at most times. So hospitality is not the greatest but a foodie is there for the food not so much for the service. I return to this place time and time again for the food. Its always fresh and fast for us. It’s not pretentious nor is it over the top. Price is relatively cheap, four people can get away with $ 20 per head including 4 dishes and rice plus drinks. I do recommend the Hot 3 layer Teh as a drink of choice on a cold winter night.

Since moving from the Chinatown precinct to Francis St, Hawker’s have more tables so you don’t have to queue for as long to get a spot at this Northbridge favourite. It is easily one of my favourite places to eat in Perth, with the crispy pork salad and golden prawns always delicious. I love how fast the turnover is here, and how efficient the staff are. Plus it’s BYO!

Even prior to their recent move, I had heard wonderful things about this place. My partner and I dropped by for dinner at the new location on a Sunday evening in hopes of falling in love with one of their popular marmite dishes. I won’t comment on the interior design as this is generally irrelevant in assessing such venues. What I will say is that although there was a good number of wait staff, the kitchen appeared to struggle with what was becoming a full house. From the wide-ranging menu we ordered Marmite chicken, hot and spicy pork belly and fried rice. After waiting over half an hour for our dishes(a comparatively long wait for Asian cuisine in my opinion), we were sadly disappointed. The chicken was too salty for my liking and the pork was just average. The fried rice became the better dish… and my iced Ribena drink probably deserves a mention too I’m not in a hurry to return, but definitely wouldn’t rule this place out. I have been informed that the marmite pork and golden prawns are the star dishes. So I will just put our dissatisfying experience down to a poor choice of dishes coupled with some teething issues associated with the recent relocation.

They say that all good things are worth the wait and all things worth waiting for will be good — generally, that’s the case at Hawkers Cuisine. I’ve been coming here for years, ever since they opened their doors in their old Chinatown premises. Now, they’re one month into sharing their reopened space on Francis Street with their loyal following. This is my favourite Chinese restaurant in Perth and it is the only Chinese restaurant in Perth that I openly crave and voluntarily return again and again to. It gets incredibly busy and the wait for the first dish can sometime stretch to just over 20 minutes — if the wait for the table didn’t kill you first. On Friday nights and weekends, get in at 6(even that’s cutting it fine) or be prepared for a wait that can start from half an hour onwards. The regulars know this and you’ll see that there are so many people who are willing to wait. I always start with some refreshing 3 Layer Teh Peng(Iced 3 layer Tea $ 4.50) Dishes that are worth trying: Marmite Chicken Salted Egg Snow Crab Superior Spinach Salted Egg Yolk Prawns Butter Prawns Combination Hor Fun Hawkers Tofu Sambal Squid Bakar Fish Cold Pork Belly Salad Hainanese Chicken Rice Ice Kachang Tip: Want to avoid the wait? Get in after 9 and enjoy Hawkers for supper. It’s got a bustling late night vibe and they’re generally open to midnight from Friday to Sunday and only stop taking orders around 11PM.

Hawkers has been one of my favourite restaurants in perth for the last couple of years. They have just moved from China town to Francis street to a larger venue. I have to say I miss the Chinatown location and layout… The place is now a lot bigger and it had a lot of tables in one massive room which can get a bit noisy and it’s not as intimate as the last place but I still love it! The people working there are so friendly and the service is great. All the good is delicious, I have tried a lot of dishes here but my recommendations include the hot and spicy squid tentacles, the marmite chicken, salt and pepper soft shell crab, the spring chicken and sambal kang kong which is a vege dish. It’s a great place for large groups as well as small– but sometimes larger is better so you can order more and share. It is a very popular place though so I suggest calling a few days before to book, otherwise you can wait but it may take awhile to get a table!
