Even though I dragged my boyfriend in here about 5 minutes before closing time, the guy took pity on him(probably thinking it would be bad for business if anyone saw hair in that state coming out of his business). It was a proper old-school job, no cutting corners, and the result was great. It was refreshing to have a mens’ barbershop that wasn’t full of bearded hipsters in skinny jeans, too. Bonus points for the hairdresser’s wonderful blunt honesty telling my boy to make more of an effort on his hair styling and educating him about the wonders of clarifying shampoo. This guy knows his stuff and he ain’t afraid to tell you.

Had a great experience at this barber’s shop. Very friendly staff who are excellent at what they do. I came out looking and feeling a lot better than when I walked in.

Great traditional Barber shop in North Melbourne. Gave me a city-slicker haircut — turned me into a man’s man, ladies man, man about town!

The Barber Saloon was the first ever place I had my hair cut in Melbourne when I was living round the corner for the first month or so. It is a proper old school barber shop with a no nonsense haircut at a reasonable price. The barber was Italian and was a really talkative bloke, full of beans. For $ 25 it’s a pretty good price for a good haircut. The funniest moment of the whole process was when we pretty much shaved off my eyebrows with the clippers proclaiming that«I’ll thank him later». To be fair, he did have a point and it probably needing doing. It was funny that there was no word of warning prior. If I lived closer to the Barber Saloon, I’d definitely be back there.
