Was walking past Tara one day and stopped to look at the menu in the window and was drawn in by the fact that not only did the food sound amazingly tasty, fresh and healthy but the vegan options were also clearly marked which is a welcome sight for me. So I went to Tara with a friend one evening and I ordered off the dining menu while she had a look at the lunch menu as there were more vegan options to choose from on the lunch menu. I had the Japanese hot pot which was delicious and my friend had the vego wrap which was also tasty. Even though we were offered a couple poppadoms to start with my friend was still hungry and the lady behind the counter was happy to whip us up a veggie curry so we wouldn’t leave hungry. For something that was whipped up in a couple minutes it tasted AMAZING! it was veggies in a spicy coconut cream sauce and should be considered as a permanent menu item for us vegos as it was pretty delicious. Overall great tasting food and wonderful service as the lady serving us was super friendly and went above and beyond to make sure our appetites were satisfied and all at a reasonable price. for 3 mains and two drinks the total was only about $ 25 each.

Went here with a friend who lives off Melbourne St as she had noticed it in her travels and picked up a menu. We took our girls(Mine is 3 and hers is almost 3 months). It was a lovely day and we sat outside under an umbrella although the inside looked pram friendly too. Friend had suggested going there as she knows I am vego(mostly vegan, mostly gluten free) and health conscious. This place aims(and does well) to serve delicious healthy and nutritious food. The menu has several options for vegos /vegans /GF which are all clearly labled. We ordered 2 dishes from the lunch menu. An Hola salad(quinoa with black beans — had run out so had chick peas which was also fine, cucumber, onion, tomato, jalapenos etc) and An arabian nights curry with rice. Both were vegan and Gluten Free. The lunch menu is $ 9.90 per dish and comes with a free organic juice which looked good — my daughter drank it all, and small salad on the side! We shared the 2 dishes between us and Miss 3 — who scoffed most of the salad and a lot of the curry — kept coming back for more. Food was tasty though not what I had expected(eg salad was warm and curry was mild red curry with coconut sauce) and I will def return to try more suitable options for me. Friend is going to head there for healthy takeaway one night. Was enough for a light lunch so we could head off on a walk afterwards(and the kids could snooze in their prams!). Oh and they have a kids menu and even a vego item on that!

A new place to eat(or get Take Away) in Melbourne St. Tara Restaurant. Serving up a mix of Flavours from Across the Globe(International Cuisine), based mainly from South East Asia, India and the Mediterranean. Tara is the brainchild of Dr Mona Kaur who wants to bring healthy, nutritious and tasty food using natural, fresh whole foods. And a good job done too. Stated with a mixed entrée Jas & Jas Choice that included a Samosa, some seasoned chicken and vegetable fritter. For mains I chose a Lamb Rendang with rice(Indonesian) and a Punjabi Virsa Tali(a selection of Dahl, eggplant curry, cheese and spinach, plus a wholemeal chapatti) All up the food is very tasty and I will certainly sampling their other items
