Loved the interior. Quierky and loved the food. You dan create your own breakfast. I loved the different take on the pancake. Super delish! Coffee was excellent too.

Building and location have both got potential but not fulfilled I was hoping for a historical theme for the station. Menu extremely limited and locked any healthy opions. My antipasto dish lacked items mentioned on the menu. Lack of alcohol licence was the final disappointment

We had eggs florentine with hollandaise sauce, spinach, rocket and smoked salmon, and mushrooms on toast. Both dishes came out fairly rapidly and were nearly cold which suggested they were pre-prepared. The poached eggs were perfect but the rest was ok. A small amount of spinach was overshadowed by a large pile of rocket, and many pieces of smoked salmon were piled on the side. Everything tasted fresh except maybe the sauce, which was far from the best I’ve had. Overall, quality ingredients but a lack of flair in combining them made for an average breakfast. The mushroom dish was similar with plenty of mushrooms but a lack of flavour. My lovely breakfast companion(all too rare that we get out for breakfast) said the toast would have been better thinner and crunchy. Our flat whites were good but a little weak for me. Service was ok but I felt some lack of experience and enthusiasm, at first sitting in the courtyard was suggested but was far too wet as it had just rained! The arrangement inside is somewhat awkward with the service counter filled up with a display cabinet. Overall definitely worth a visit to see inside the former North Adelaide railway station building, located on the operating platform so you could catch the train. It is accessible by car(memorial drive) and bicycle being on a major bike trail that follows the Gawler line. There is also a clothes shop and various trinkets and jewellery for sale. I think the location is superb with the parklands and golf courses nearby, and the new residential developments in nearby Bowden/Brompton. Jarmers is across the way too.

Lovely meals — Gluten & Vegan friendly and it all tastes so good. Coffee is mmmmmm. Service is prompt professional and still welcoming with warmth. Staff are very considerate about checking on your orders or refills. Made me feel relaxed and welcome at the same time. Try it and you won’t be disappointed. Ciao Bella

Round two trip: FAB! Its a great place to visit, and going at 3pm on a Sunday is a great thing to do if you want to enjoy the lovely shade outside now that the beautiful weather is here and the afternoon sun warms your legs while you sit underneath a lovely shadey umbrella. The kitchen closes around mid afternoon, but they will still lovingly pour your coffee or whip up your beverage — and there are many sweet treats to be had. The train line right out the back of the building is not a frequent interruption and — thanks for some inside knowledge — there is the occasional stop there by one of the metro trains. This quaint, serene location is far enough away from the Park Terrace overpass at Brompton and surrounded by golf course and parklands that its a beautifully peaceful spot. There are several places to eat inside; main entrance, side rooms, courtyard or out the front. In winter, a warm fire is favourite places to be next to. The staff are super wonderful, totally lovely, and really inclusive to all people. I really like that they have a variety of ages of staff, and watching their interactions you can clearly see a great team with great mateship. I like a place that even the staff like to work in!

The old North Adelaide railway station converted to a café with a vintage shop, what a great way to utilise these spaces. The numerous cars parked outside and opposite can only mean one thing, popular spot! Not wrong, there are a few tables left in the main dining room when I arrived and soon after, there’s a stream of customers and the place was filled up, not sure about the outside seating but 2 out of 6 were occupied when I walked past. The tables in the main dining room were a bit cramp, there’s hardly any room between tables. There’s a long bench seat along one wall, presumably they were the original bench seat for the station? The dark wooden tables and chairs made the room darker and the walls were adorned with old pictures. The ‘secret room’ down the passage way is another dinning area, not sure as to why it wasn’t used, instead we were all packed into one dining area. Loving the courtyard seatings past the vintage shop, brightly painted tables and some vertical garden on the high fence screening the railway. Perfect place to be in warmer months. Staff are friendly and attentive and both food and coffee were served less than 10 minutes after order, impressive! The hollandaise sauce was spot on with the right tang for me, the bacon was plentiful compared to a nearby café. Really like their big breakfast which allows the customer to a choice of 5 items. On the menu, there are information on who their suppliers are, what a great idea! Apart from the menu items, there’s a display cabinet of quiche and wraps, and on the counter, an assortment of muffins to choose from if you only want coffee and cakes or for after a meal. I chose the egg florentine for brunch, the poached eggs were cooked to my satisfaction which is runny yoke. Only problem was I doubt the eggs were ‘drained’ properly as the toast was very soggy under a thick bed of baby spinach. There are more than a dozen sauces available on top of a cabinet but they were not offered, suppose one only needs to ask. Finally I liked the tiny button of shortbread which came with the coffee, I saved that for after my meal, nice round off.

I came across this place on the way to the Loose Caboose and I have to say I’m really glad I stopped! The food was delightful! I had the zucchini and corn fritters and the coconut coffee and my friend had the big breakfast. We were both happily satisfied and when we got up to leave we discovered that there’s a vintage store in another one of the rooms! I think we spent more time shopping than we did eating! I will definitely return!

Add this to the list of fab places for all day breakky in Adelaide. We are getting seriously spoilt for choice these days, but Red House definitely brings quality deliciousness to the table. First let’s talk about the location. Situated in the North Adelaide train station house on War Memorial Drive, the setting is rustic and on trend for making the most out of another of Adelaide’s beautiful heritage buildings. There are a few tables out the ‘front’, and some in an outside courtyard too, although it’s a bit chilly to sit on them at the moment, in spring it should be fab. Inside, the dining space is small, and to be honest could feel a little cramped if full, but the décor has been well chosen to compliment the heritage feel. To add to this, the café has a small vintage shop, which is mainly quality 70s vintage wear for men and women, and a small selection of leather jackets, bags and shoes. Okay, that’s the physical stuff out the way, but what about the service? Well, it’s certainly service with a smile here. Whilst there are signs asking you to order at the counter, today they offered table service. The staff here clearly are passionate, and want the new venture to be a success, they also want customers to love the café as much as they do, and their enthusiasm is infectious. The service was by no means perfect, there are obviously a few kinks that need to be ironed out as they gain their footing and become more established, but all in all they are friendly, attentive, and will happily answer any questions. Finally, let’s get onto the menu. It’s a great all day breakfast/lunch selection. With traditional faves that have a delicious twist. I had the Roma Eggs(poached eggs, basil pesto, roasted tomatoes and ciabatta), whilst my friend had Mexican Baked Eggs with a hash brown on the side. Being gluten free, my friend had to ask about whether there was gluten in the hash brown(there wasn’t), so she was happy. The server said they are trying to make items vegan and gluten free, which, whilst awesome, seemed a bit surprising as none of the menu mentioned dietary requirements. I’d encourage them to make it known on their menu. My favourite part of the menu, and an element that I think is quite unique is the ‘Big Breakfast’. Rather that having a set selection, the menu lists about a dozen options that the customer can choose five elements of for their breakky. Are you an egg, bacon, spinach, mushroom and tomato person? You’re sorted! Oh you’re more of a haloumi, avocado, hash brown, chorizo and caramelised onion person? DONE! FORSHIZ… best idea ever… although I kinda want everything, five elements seems so little when presented with so many delicious options! hahaha Overall though, the pesto was balanced, rich and generously served, the eggs perfectly poached and the tomatoes fresh and flavoursome. Our coffees could certainly have been warmer, but all in all, I loved my visit to Red House, and I really see it becoming a go to in the area.

Having been far too busy to claim my «first-to-review» prize on this one I clearly have to take a couple of minutes to set the record straight. The coffee here is excellent, as is the food, the ambience, the staff, the concept and the execution. The small, but cute, vintage clothing space right next to the coffee booth is a lovely touch and there are some great pieces the like of which cannot be found in stores in that area. The location is awesome. Right next to North Adelaide train station(practically on the platform) and close to a road that has considerable morning traffic this place should do very well. Food was well presented, fresh, and speedily brought out and I have nothing but positive things to say about the expedition of my take away coffees. More than holds it’s own with other coffee/brunchy type places in the same area and will be a major hit when the rain dies down and the sun decides to come back to Adelaide as she always does.

Popped in for a late lunch during the week and ordered a flat white & the beef burger. Found the coffee nice but a bit weak. The burger was disappointing — patty was very dry and there was a puddle of juices forming as it was eaten. The burger was presented on a small chopping board so you needed to eat it with a lot of care to keep the juices contained. Overpriced at $ 15 considering it was just the burger on its own. Perhaps their breakfast is better — there are only a few lunch options although breakfast is available all day. Quite a cute space but limited seating.
