Hidden towards the top end of O’Connell St, Network Video is where it’s at for renting movies. I discovered this place just recently, and because it looked so claustrophobic, squashy and unpleasant from the outside, I did what anyone else would do: I got curious and went inside. It WAS crammed inside. So crammed, it was like walking through a glassware store and trying not to knock everything down. The staff were very knowledgeable as far as movies go, and were friendly too. I couldn’t believe how extensive their range is. It’s great, better than going to your average DVD rental.

As far as quirky video stores go, this place must take the cake! Two out of the four aisles are dedicated to VHS rentals. And it’s crammed. They’ve run out of room and pile DVDs on top of the shelving. Sometimes, renting a movie is like playing a game of Jenga. –Usually friendly and always knowledgeable. –Decent selection of foreign and Aussie flicks. –5 rentals for $ 5 on tight-arse Tuesdays. Lastly, a word of warning: they keep it hot in there. I mean sweltering. I’ve literally been sweating through my shirt while trying to decide whether to rent Airplane! or Naked Gun 2 ½. Gay friendly. 4⁄5 Dusty VHS Tapes
