Beautiful seafood! Just enjoyed a lovely dinner with my boyfriend. I ordered the seafood risotto and it was so delicious, flavoursome and a good mix of all sorts of seafood in it. First time having octopus and crab My partner got the marinated salmon with rice. The place was quiet, although it was a Monday and the service was really good. We weren’t waiting long for our food. Will definitely return.

This place had it all happening. If you’re up for somewhere quiet to spend your Saturday evening, enjoying the company of those important folk in your life, or that special someone, then this is for you. The steaks literally fall apart in your mouth and leave you wanting more. Of course, the diehard seafood fans will enjoy the hot/cold seafood platter which are presented with elegance and finesse, so much so that you almost don’t want to eat it! Highly recommended, just don’t order vodka unless you like the taste of the cheap stuff ;-)

Now I think I had the most popular table tonight. The next table said to my companion and I «Are you special, you are getting everyones orders». The poor waitress was new and obviously her first shift and numerous dishes arrived at our table. Of course I could have said«yes» to the seafood platter for two… but I am a bit thingy about breaking crab legs just to eat a morsel of meat. The bruschettas arrived and we sent them away too…“Sorrry not ours” Glad we remembered what we ordered. When our entrees arrived they were just to die for, the calamari was so light and fresh. There was quite a bit and it could have been easily a main meal. Then the mains: lightly beer battered fish for my companion and chicken in a mustard sauce(ok.I know it is a seafood restaurant… but I felt like chicken) for me. There was so much for both of us. Pity restaurants don’t do doggy bags anymore. This was obviously accompanied with a bottle of wine. The wine was in the medium range. There was a good selection of Australian wines and ok prices. We enjoyed the atmosphere of the restaurant and had a good time chatting to the couple at the next table(it wasn’t there first date, there 2nd or 3rd… so we weren’t intrusive). The bill was missing something… cost! We put the waitress right. The new waitress might get into trouble if the $ 40 bottle of wine wasn’t included in the bill. A great place to eat. The food was very tasty and very filling. It is a popular place and we ran into friends on the way out.

Just had Sunday lunch at Splash. The place was quiet and pleasant with subdued décor. We were there on a voucher which gave us a seafood platter side salad and a glass of wine. The platter had plenty of everything including crab and was very tasty. The staff were friendly and efficient. Price wise I was glad I had a voucher as the full price for the platter is $ 110. Checking the menu I would say that most items are on the high side of reasonable. Not sure if I will return as parking almost impossible.

We came to Splash during lunch time, and were at first a bit sceptical to see it was quite quiet(wasn’t much busier when we walked past again that same night). We had crusty bread for a starter and it definitely wasn’t worth $ 6, but I did want it badly enough. I ordered Gnocchi Pesto while my partner had a Steak Burger. For a quiet lunch time, our food took quite a while to come out and a couple that ordered after us got their food first — a personal hate haha. My partner quite liked his burger and at around $ 14 we both agree it was pretty good value. However for $ 18 I wasn’t exactly impressed with my gnocchi — we’ve probably made better at home. However the whole price for our meals combined was probably quite reasonable. The staff were also lovely, and to be fair they are a seafood restaurant.

If the phrase«You are what you eat» stands true. after my visit to Splash I think I may have turned into an ocean. So many different sea creatures were consumed for this review… The restaurant was beautifully decorated with deep blues and coral colours. Long flowing curtains along one wall nicely simulated the feeling of being underwater. Very nice. Our waitress was lovely and attentive and always wore a smile. For entrée we had Salt and Pepper Squid and fresh, toasted sourdough with olive oil and balsamic to dip. The squid was well cooked and tasted delicious. Some of the bread was over toasted(and sneakily hidden from view) and was a bit burnt. I shared a huge seafood platter with my partner for our main. It consisted of deep-fried king prawns, octopus, mussels in napoli sauce, battered scallops, battered fish(sorry, i forget what type) and crumbed calamari all on a bed of chips and salad. The seafood was some of the nicest I’ve had in quite a while. The calamari was great, and I am happy to report when biting into it, it didn’t snap and smack me in the face like a rubber band. I personally don’t like having to peel my own prawns and wasn’t really a fan of them being deepfried whole. The octopus, while cooked well has a strange chill marinade(?) on it which kind of turned me off it. Overall it was really good seafood, but a little too much deep-fry for me. I recommend this restaurant to anyone that loves seafood and has a fat wad of cash.

Fancy it up a bit, this restaurant is your ideal surf and turf a really good range of seafood with a European flavour. I would recommend heading here for a birthday with a group, it’s got the up-market feel that is nice to encounter a celebration in. There is a great list of wines to choose from. Do dress up a bit — it’s the perfect excuse to spruce yourself up in the Newtown precinct.

One of the few seafood restaurants on King Street, Splash presents as a classier establishment than most of the cafés around. With a price tag to match. Service is good — professional and friendly. There are tables on the street enticing people in, as well as folding windows to give a fresh summery feel inside. There is a full bar and BYO wine. The seafood kebabs are nice, with fresh fish and calamari and prawns on a skewer. It can be served with rice and salad making it a little healthier than the usual fish and chips combo. The few times I have been here the food has been tasty at the time and I have enjoyed it, but afterwards have not felt the best. Maybe it’s not so fresh or maybe just didn’t agree with me? It’s hard to tell but I wouldn’t rush back.
