As the previous reviewer states… there’s a reason why this place, a short walk from Newtown station and right on King Street, is empty. But I’d ordered something from the Simply Noodles branch in Top Ryde, and while it wasn’t OMG-amazing, it was pretty good, and the huge serving made the price worth it. I went here on a Wednesday night. I ordered the chicken laksa. It came quickly enough, and was a decent size, but the flavor wasn’t that good… It was a little bland and the soup wasn’t flavorful at all. I managed to finish the entire thing, more out of necessity and not wanting to waste food, than anything else. Not sure I’ll be back, not even to try the other noodle dishes.

Don’t wonder why this is one of very few Asian restaurants in Newtown that is regularly empty, it is terrible. Not particularly cheap, you will wait a long time for your food and it will taste pedestrian at best, if you’re lucky. Keep walking or cross the road to any one of many fantastic options, Happy Chef, Phở 2042, Thai Pothong, Dumpling King, Thai Riffic etc etc…

Simply noodles has a cute modern sense of style with mirrors running along the walls and a row of slim wooden white tables running along it’s long dining area with comfy little white padded stools. The other thing worth noting is that Simply Noodles is not just simply noodles, they serve all sorts of things, such as laksa, omlettes, dumplings, hot pots and rice stirfrys. I had a spicy Szechuen beef and rice and it certainly was spicy, but it was delicious, the service was fast and I could not get through it all and was offered my left over’s as take away before I had the chance to ask, for what more could I ask?
