What an absolute treat this place is. The staff were so attentive from the second we walked in, and I fell in love from the entrée. We had the KHASTARAJKACHORI and man oh man was it good. We followed it with BHUNAGOSHT&MOPALAMURG and every dish was better than the next. I can’t fault this joint, it may be pricier than some other Indian restaurants but it is well worth the few extra dollars. Will be back to try more!

Fantastic Indian. Flavours are delicious and the quality is great. Love the butter chicken — but everything I’ve had is delicious including the papadums. BYO wine is a great bonus. Pleasant and attentive but not overbearing service. Highly recommend.

(In my best Homer Simpson impression). OMGOMGOMG! This place is amazing. The. Best. Indian. Ever. A big call I know but seriously the balance of flavours was sublime. Excellent service. Going back there soon!

Fabulous Indian in Newtown! The lamb chops, saag paneer, okla curry, butter naan, kulfi were all amazing. I would love to come back here again.

Date night! I have to be honest, I’ve been to Delhi O Delhi about three years ago, and I was impressed back then. But I had forgotten how pricey it was. Pricey! But who cares when you have a wine list that is awesomely paired with Indian food, and when that food itself is sheer awesomeness. $ 32 for a tasting plate is a little much though. Two prawns, two cutlets and a piece of chicken is a bit light, and looked as much on the plate, even if it was artfully done. Or am I being a cheapskate? possibly? There is no question that the food is great. The goat curry is particularly good, and without the usual accoutrement of bones. The spicy lamb and lentil special was also wonderfully good. The best part about this meal is that I was already slightly intoxicated(but still legal!) and the wonderful staff were fantastic in catering to our every funny whim and faux-pas(napkin on the floor, spoon on the floor, etc. All in all a wonderful experience, and one I was happy to repeat, and to repeat again in the future.

Great tasting and non-ordinary menu. Staff very efficient and attentive as expected in fine dining. Menu prices very reasonable.

My favourite Indian food in all of Sydney! It isn’t just the good food, it’s the great service. Service in Sydney is pretty lacking in my opinion, but definitely not at Delhi O Delhi. Every dish I’ve tried has been fantastic. My Indian friends recommend this place as well which I think speaks volumes about the food. It’s in a great location too — just off the train but off busy King Street so it feels a little less busy & chaotic.

Having lived in London for 9 years, and having visited India, I’m pretty fussy about my Indian food. I have found few here in Sydney that have impressed me. Delhi O Delhi is up there, though. The range of dishes is just right, and the flavours are amazing(slow cooked spicy lamb cutlets; juicy chicken pieces in coconut, tomato and ginger; thick, creamy dal makhni). It is a slightly fancy place to eat, with white linen and deferential service, and so the prices aren’t cheap. But it is good for a treat when you’re in Newtown and you want some flavourful, quality food.

I spend few years in London and eating a lots of good Indian food was hard for me to find something decent in the area. And I found it! Nice restaurant where you will be looked after from the begging to the end of your evening. Really good Indian food with not very expensive prices. I love almost everything on the menu. Every time I had a great night with yummy Indian food.

Very tasty and rich, but portions ungenerous. Shared two mains with rice, extra rice, a vegetable side, couple of dips and papadams between two and came out hungry. Neither of us could be called big eaters. Yummy though.

I caution myself, «Pfft, another Indian restaurant in Sydney. Prepare to be disappointed!» before entering, because they can’t possibly compare to the authentic Indian restuarants in India, right? …Wrong! They get all the little cultural idiosyncrasies of North Indian restaurants completely right! From the free paapads(or pappadums, as they’re called in South India) on the tables(which they reload every time you finish them), to the fennel breath-fresheners they bring out after your meal! It’s just a beautiful restaurant, with a really professional, sophisticated ambience. From the stark-white of the table-trimmings, to the soft glow of the candles. The service is excellent. The wait staff are so attentive! They pull your chairs out for you, they spread the napkins in your lap, they refill your glass every time it’s less than half-full, and they make you feel well looked-after. They look over every now and then too, just in case you need anything, so you’re never left waiting if there’s a problem. And all this, for a fairly reasonable price! My date and I ordered two main dishes, and three garlic naans, for under $ 50. A hefty meal, at a lovely establishment, for under $ 25? Excellent! I had a hard time carrying myself and my full-to-bursting stomach out of there, so much did I eat! Of course, in the interest of full disclosure, I must warn you about the spiciness. I ordered the Butter Chicken, and my date ordered the Lagan Ki Boti(baby goat). and we ended up having to swap, because his dish was too spicy for him. Being Indian, I barely registered the spiciness, but it’s probably worth mentioning, so that your sensitive palates aren’t unduly distressed. If you’re deathly afraid of spice, go for the Butter Chicken. My date was very happy with it, and he has a pansy Irish palate. You can’t go wrong there!

At night there are live flames coming off each end of the counter, it’s a very envigorating sight. The owner of this restaurant was the head chef at the Hilton in New Delhi and decided to start a south indian cuisine restaurant in Australia instead. A fine selection of produce is used at this venue and the chef has been celebrated by local press and praised by full houses on the weekends. The main course dishes are aimed at the experienced epicurian, with camel and twice cooked duck added to the carte. Personally I would go 2 entrees depending on how hungry I was feeling. If you like Indian but want to see what more it can offer — this will be an interesting experience. Even if you have grown up with Indian food your whole life, this menu will bring a new perspective of what Indian cuisine can offer.
