My trusty singlespeed got a puncture today, and although I was equidistant from two bike shops I opted for Cheeky as it was closest to my house. So happy that I did! Not only did they fix my flat on the spot(I was riding home in ten minutes!), they also hooked me up with a new puncture-resistant tyre ’cause I’d worn my rear one almost to the threads and greased my chain just because they could see it needed it AND let me rummage through bags of replacement pad bits to take what would fit the worn-out ones on my helmet… all for the insanely low price of $ 20. I’ve had puncture repairs alone that cost that much! never mind the new«expensive» tyre, and the rest. When I spluttered that it was way too cheap the super obliging guy who looked after me laughed and said, «Well that’s what it costs». Best! Look, I know I should be a self-sufficient cyclist and learn how to change a damn tyre myself but if I did that then I’d miss out on awesome interactions like the one I had today. The other great thing is that the workshop part of the store is this big wide open space, and when I commented on it the same(awesome) dude told me it was in the interests of transparency. Love this place! Y’all made my day.

I’ve been in this shop a couple of times and they’ve been very helpful and friendly. They are knowledgeable about child carriers for bikes and changed our 12 inch pram tyres for a very reasonable cost. No pressure to buy either.

I love Cheeky Transport. The staff is really friendly and receptive to all questions without the usual snobbish bike shop attitude. Some accessories are a bit overpriced, but repair services are quick and well priced. This is a great place to stop in if you feel overwhelmed by less-than-friendly mechanics at other shops.

Cheeky Bikes is on a side street, just off King Street in Newtown. If you own a bicycle, call in and have a look, it is a great shop. I have been looking for a basket although now that my front tyre has punctured getting that fixed should be my priority. Anyway Cheeky Bikes has great baskets and their prices are really reasonable(I can get exactly what I need for $ 25 and it is a steel mesh basket). They also have some clever innovative items like a takeout basket, which comes with an insulated cooler bag all for $ 90(very reasonable). Also Cheeky Transport offers hand built bikes made by the store’s owner, they look great, if you are a serious cyclist or want a really stylish bike, they are an excellent option. And they sell a whole range of cargo bikes. The shop has all the bike accessories one could want and the staff are friendly and helpful, this may be the best bike shop I’ve seen yet.
