Liquid bar is a local for me with a manager that tries incredibly hard to make this place succeed. The staff are pleasant and accommodating which adds to the atmosphere. The drinks are slightly on the expensive side with a glass of Nanny Goat Pinot Noir costing $ 22(an entire bottle for the BWS/first choice is $ 27). I had the crispy skin salmon served on a bed of mash and seasonal vegetables. The skin of the salmon was certainly crispy but at the cost of the salmon which was over cooked, the mash was nice with an under-taste of garlic. And the seasonal veges where cooked well. Overall an enjoyable meal just no wow factor. As an aside the menu is difficult to read with font and colors playing tricks with the eyes.

Liquid has a funky décor and relaxed setting. In the mood for just a basic meal Sunday afternoon, I had the burger along with a bottle of wine. The burger was ok and the wine cold which was all I needed on the day. I see the venue more as a bar than a restaurant, the ATM inside looked a little out of place for a dining experience. While content with the venue ambience, I don’t know feel its a place where I will visit again in the near future. If I lived in the area, I could see myself heading there after work on a Friday night for a drink and some platter food.

We went to Liquid with a group of 8 for a friend’s birthday. The décor is really cool, it’s a nice set-up — very laid-back and relaxed. We all ordered our food — everyone chose steaks except for me — I ordered the Country-style Chicken Breast. It started off fine, our meals came out quite quickly. Then, a steak with mushroom sauce came out. No one ordered steak with mushroom sauce. Before rudely stating, «well, SOMEONE definitely ordered the mushroom sauce,» the waiter stormed off and we were all left dumbfounded — did someone in customer service ACTUALLY just say that!!! It was so rude and we were all shocked! Eventually the waiter came back out, still holding the mushroom sauce dish that no one ordered — «I thought I’d just make sure that no one want the mushroom sauce?» Umm, nope, no one ordered it, we would just like what we ordered thank you. He came back out again with the steak and gave it to the only person waiting for her dish. She asked if the mushroom had just been scraped off because she was allergic to mushroom. The waiter stated that the sauce was scraped off then the steak was re-cooked, dumped it in front of her and left. She ended up having to switch dishes with someone else! I couldn’t believe the waiter’s attitude. The vegetables I had were delicious and the garlic & herb mash was perfect! However, my country-style chicken breast was dry and leathery, it tasted over-done and was not juicy or succulent at all. About a quarter the way through, I encountered a huge horrible fatty bit and that just put me off the rest of the fillet. At $ 24, I expected a bit better. Our sub-par meals left us sitting their uncomfortably, unsure what to do. We hadn’t had any table service since the beginning and in the end we had to send someone up to ask for the bill. Liquid do not do split bills, which is fine. We used their ATM to each withdraw some cash and put it all together. Someone else took the money up to pay and the bar lady asked if she could pay credit as she didn’t know how to put a cash sale through. After a bit of awkwardness, she went to get a colleague to put the bill through. By the end of the ordeal, we couldn’t get out of there fast enough! I feel like things would have been different if we had just gone there for a drink — it was a lovely atmosphere and would be a nice venue to chill out at and chat before going out for a night on the town. Even with the meal mix-up, we probably would have left with a different outlook if it had just been swapped over without the attitude. I won’t be going back to Liquid. The entire experience put me off and I would not recommend the place.

Liquid is the watering hole for many Teneriffe locals. The times I have been there I always end up leaving very confused. What is Liquid? Is it a sports bar? Is it a pub? Is it a lounge? Such confusion! Whatever it is, it’s definitely lacking something. It’s generally a middle aged business man hang-out. Sometimes if you watch carefully you can see them sending guilty sending text messages, presumably to their significant others telling them that they will be home later from work than expected. The food is standard pub food and is a bit hit and miss. I’ve had great meals there and other times it’s been pretty lacklustre. They have an OK selection of wines and cocktails, but it’s rare that the usual crowd veer away from the beers on tap. Look, Liquid is an OK little pub(if that’s what it is?) but I think it would be worth clarifying what the purpose of the place is. There is definitely some fun to be had on Wednesday night trivia though, and if you’re just meeting a friend for a beer, Liquid does the job.
