Our regular Friday night treat. Home delivered with a smile & food is always tasty, fresh & hot. You can just taste the freshness & it is consistently good. Penang curry is great, especially with the fresh roti & coconut rice has a perfectly pairing flavour. It’s not on Beaufort St but still easy to find & it’s always welcoming when you go in.

Was looking for a reasonably priced asian place as Goreng was closed, we randomly stumbled across this place while we were crossing the street. It’s a tucked away restaurant but boy was it good! We were seated down and having a look at the menu there was a lot to choose from! The owner is a sweet funny man who had a chat to us and he originated from Thailand so it was really authentic! The restaurant was casual dining style which is quite nice and very welcoming. With lots to choose from we ordered a Hot Larb pad(Roasted Duck Salad) — sliced duck with herbs and onion, dry chilli, lemon juice and ground roasted rice — it was yummy! The Beef Gang Massaman — curry cooked in coconut milk, potato, carrot, onion and roasted peanuts — this was the all time favourite! It tasted delicious and the beef melted in your mouth but still tender and the curry flavour tasted divine! Next was the Prawn Pad Kee Mow which was cooked well and there was a lovely fried chilli to eat it with was was delish! Service was good, food was amazing would be sure to come again to explore more of their dishes. Do pop in :)

This is a great casual dining restaurant. The food was excellent and good value. We had a coeliac in our group and the staff knew how to prepare certain dishes gluten free. We ordered the chicken satay, massaman curry and pad thai all gluten free and our ceoliac friend did not get sick from eating these dishes.

I’ve been here a couple of times since it opened not so long ago and I love it. The owner is a funny, down-to-earth Asian man, who loves to chat and tell you about his ups and downs of starting a new restaurant. Cha Baa Thai skimp on the furnishing, choosing to jazz up the plain walls with the end of a of a textile roll. You can see the barcode of the fabric pattern, its quite amusing and kind of sweet really. When I last ate here, I thought the plates and cutlery looked pretty nice. Mr Cha Baa Thai has skimped on décor but insisted on Wedgewood china. Comical So the service is friendly and the food is delicious too. My friends and I go mad for the Duck and Lychee curry. Tender pieces of duck cooked in a creamy curry of coconut, plump lychees and sweet pineapple — a taste sensation! Also good is the Pad Thai. Servings are reasonable and so are prices. Tasty and easy, it’s a great for take-away or low-key dinners.

Cha Baa Thai popped up over the last couple of months after Oriental Secrets moved all the way into the next suburb. It is only a small store, just off of Beaufort Street so it can’t seat many, though most of their business would come from take-away orders. The menu is pretty standard for a Thai takeout, with Pad Thai and Massaman curry being some obvious stars on the menu. Cha Baa do it a little different though, I can’t quite pick what it is, but there’s something in their meals that just doesn’t match with the other Thai places I’ve tried. Perhaps the food is more authentic, or perhaps it is shying away from its roots, I couldn’t say, but the food is certainly still good eating. A little pricey for the serving sized(~$ 16 for a typical take-away container full of food), but the food is good and they offer a cheap delivery service, which is great for when I’m feeling super lazy.
