Farm stalls fresh from the paddock to you hold a special place in my heart. No middle men, no retail overheads, and no cold storage mean that you can experience produce direct from the paddock to your plate. Harvest The Fleurieu have a weekly stall focused on strawberries at the Willunga Farmers Market, but if Saturday mornings don’t suit, you can visit their farm stall on Victor Harbour Road in Mount Compass. The other benefit of visiting The Van is the pick-your-own strawberry field, and if you time your visit right, you may see the professional picking team with their recumbent bicycles plucking the plumpest strawbs from the patch. If strawberries aren’t your thing, fear not, there is a whole range of fresh produce available at the stall. On our visit we picked up crunchy red radishes, and a big container of Jerusalem Artichokes for just $ 4. It’s the tail end of strawberry season now, as we head into Winter, so hot foot it to the strawberry patch and have one last taste of summer!
