I’ve been to PellaGreco a few times, always before work, and normally for a quick take away coffee as I have time to kill having missed my bus connecting bus at Moonee Ponds Junction. Food: I’ve eaten once, and I was hungover, needing something to fill my stomach and keep the shakes, regurgitation and other symptoms of PAND(Post Alcohol Nausea Disorder) at bay. The food was good. Coffee: Drinkable, and good enough. This is suburban café bulk roasted coffee, not the Unilocal-tastic coffee of Melbournes iconoclastic cafes, so be warned; there is no hipster barista here. In fact, I once found there to be no barista… I have only once walked into a café and found there to be a kitchen hand(perhaps chef or cook?) and no barista… This made procuring a coffee a little difficult on that day, and has made me a little wary since. I will be back, but not sure how my commitment will hold up. Three stars, it’s good enough to go back to, but no worth a special journey for my mind.

I’ve only ever been here once for breakfast, it was on Cox Plate day this year and it was absolutely delightful to watch the parade of race day goers as they walked to the track. PellaGreco has loads of space for alfresco dining, and on a sunny day on this busy strip its superb. The wait staff were quick and accurate with our orders, although they could have been a tad friendlier. When I go out for brekky, I think its because I don’t usually eat it, I’m a glutton for a big breakfast with the works and PellaGreco delivered. Bacon, eggs, mushrooms, tomatoes and toast was delish, as was the pot of black tea and freshly squeezed juice I ordered. It all came to about $ 20 which isn’t a bargain but isn’t exorbitant for the feast I ordered. A very enjoyable morning prior to my fun day at the races and a place I’ll definitely be back to.
