Accessories, ladies. It’s all about the accessories. Tilkah have some fantastic leather bags and wallets. However, this store is not cheap. You’re looking at about $ 250 for larger bags and $ 180ish for the little ones. They have some killer bags though. Really nice stuff. The staff were fine, they were chatting away to themselves but always knew I was there and stopped the second they knew I wanted to talk about something in the store. It was nice actually, I didn’t feel like I was being ambushed or forced into a sale. I was comfortable to browse. Although, something I had issues with was the jewellery. It’s expensive and it’s not even silver. It looks really good, but I wouldn’t ever pay $ 180 for something that wasn’t at least silver. All that said; if you don’t have issues with metals then you can find some great objects. I like Tilkah because they have some fantastic bags which are pretty good quality, if only I were rich.

If you sell sparkling, extravagant and beautifully designed bags and accessories you’re probably at least guaranteed three stars from me. Tilkah gets five, one extra for the helpful, chatty and friendly staff and one for the beautiful adornments and art that feature in the store and on the walls. Earthy, chic, bohemian, elegant and Parisian styles are all proudly on show at Tilkah, as they rightly deserve to be. A great Australian label that sets the trends and at between $ 80 — $ 150 is quite affordable for a beautiful piece of home grown luxury.

Its name might conjure images of little curry houses but accessories label Tilkah is hot for an entirely different reason: its beautiful range of bags, jewellery and accessories. Offering bags ranging from compact clutches to brilliantly oversized totes, Tilkah is a 10 year old Australian label that specialises in decidedly luxe accessories. Jewellery tends to be a mixture of the bejewelled and the be-studded while its bags are a little big Balenciaga, a little bit Miu Miu and a lot beautiful. A moody but beautiful looking little boutique within Melbourne Central station, boasting ’90 year old floorboards, brass fixtures’ and ‘clever scenic artistry featuring crumbling walls & distressed wallpaper’, my abiding impression of Tilkah is that of leather and jewels. A little akin to the collision of Scrooge McDuck’s vault and a loveworn gothic den. Next time I’m in the market for a pretty special bag — we’re talking up to $ 350 for a giant tote — I’m heading to Tilkah. I feel its my newly Australian patriotic duty.
