Thought we would give this place a go. We have always considered it, but it is usually bursting at the seams, with no signs of a vacant seat anywhere. We came in at about 7pm on a Thursday night after noticing a few seats available around the place. We waited a few minutes at the wait to be seated sign till a guy came up to us. We told him we wished to have a table for 2. He grunted then went to start to clean a table for us(I think). He collected the dirty plates from the table we believe he was clearing for us and took them all the way back to the kitchen. Took him a good minute to reappear — my wife & I thought he might have been washing the plates while he was back there. He then looked like he was going to clear the glasses from the table till he all of a sudden decided to go behind the bar to get a beer out of the fridge for another customer(maybe a friend, who knows). We then turned around & walked out shocked at the lack of customer service skills shown by the staff here. The word rudeness comes to mind, however is this the way of the future??? If so, get me out of here! I would prefer to be in a country that pays nothing to staff & let them live off tips if this is the sort of service I am going to get.

Three of us came for lunch before heading to the airport, giving ourselves a good two hours to eat and catch up before heading to Tullamarine. My friend’s nachos came out as what looked like microwaved mush with cheese whip squirted on top — she struggled to eat it and i squirmed just watching her, grateful for the delicious burger i had ordered and was still waiting for. Half an hour after her nachos arrived, my boyfriend and my burgers had still not arrived. I approached a waitress who was standing outside the kitchen sorting cutlery and asked her to chase up our burgers. She responded ‘sure’ then continued to wipe cutlery. 5 minutes later i approached the original waitress who’d taken my order who told me that it was on its way as she had seen the other girl ask the kitchen staff. Ten minutes later our burgers arrived and our waitress apologised stating the burgers were entered as mains and they were waiting for the nachos to be finished before bringing them out. This waitress then walked straight over to her team mates and loudly boasted about her exceptional story-telling, covering up for the fact our burgers had simply been forgotten. Long story short, this place needs some Gordan Ramsey woop-ass. Hire better staff and buy real food to cook what could maybe be passed as edible food. What a shit hole.

First the good: It is the place to go if you are a sports fan that wants to watch TV at a table. The staff is nice, friendly and helpful. The bad: Just don’t eat while you are watching the TVs. The food is really bad. We ordered a pitcher of cocktails. The cocktail was just sweet lolly water and we doubt they even put ANY alcohol in it. It then took awhile for our food to show up. When it did show, everything was woefully under seasoned. We had mozzarella sticks and they added a hot sauce to the marinara sauce, which I have never seen done. One of the sticks were hollow and missing the cheese. They offered to give another order. We got the second order and there was a hair nicely embedded in the cheese. At least the second time they didn’t put hot sauce in the marinara sauce but after finding a hair in the first mozzarella stick we knew it was time to go. I wouldn’t recommend this place.

Venue looks impressive but food/drinks not good. 3 of us ordered parma’s. Waited a good 30 mins+ for the meals. All 3 of the meals varied in size and the chips that came with it were warm. The toppings on the parma’s were minimal. Basically just a plain chicken schnitzel with a tiny bit of ham/sauce and cheese. One friend ordered the cheeseburger and noticed it was slightly pink, kept eating, and then when was halfway through it couldn’t eat it as the meat was red raw. Had to send it back and have it replaced. 1 friend ordered 2 cocktails(fruit tingle) and they were not made the same — one was way stronger than the other. Not mixed properly. Overall not a good experience. Also not fun walking through cigarette smoke as you enter the venue.

This is probably a sporting enthusiasts heaven. There are tvs stacked on the side of tables, the side of walls, on the front dining area, over the register and hopefully you have got the image. Yes there are lots of tvs. Which makes sense for all the sporting enthusiasts going to watch sports with mates, having drinks, the days special(which seems to be a daily thing and a good thing) and just share plain good times with friends. The staff are very helpful and welcoming to your needs. SO I do not see any reason for people not to try this place out. As for me I do look like a small rabbit in the sea of lions and people who know a lot about sport. It is just something that I never caught on. I’m jealous

Their 7 day specials seem like a good deal. I’m officially a fan, each day there’s something good going on. Although I have to admit Monday is my favourite with ½ price buffalo wings, pizzas & pots. A cheap night out with good food, and the membership cards make it that extra bit better. I can’t wait till July when I get a free $ 30 voucher for my birthday :) For all those sports fans, a TV in every booth that you can control, sport on every channel. Not sure where other Sporting Globes are so some of you may have to make the track out to the burbs to experience the wonderfulness that is The Sporting Globe, but in my opinion, it’s well worth it :)
