Tasty lunch. Awesome sauerkraut. Spicy Bratwurst not that hot. Great choice of mustards and sauces.

Pros: lots of food, cheap coffee, and speedy service. Cons: location, long line The Bratwurst Shop is a regular stop of mine, almost every time I visit Queen Vic Market I end up getting a bratwurst and a coffee. I usually get a large coffee and the spicy bratwurst, loaded up with American mustard, cheese, sauteed onions and TONS of sauerkraut. They won’t skimp on the toppings or sauce, and the bratwurst are heartily sized. I’ve never had a bad bratwurst here, nor have I ever had to wait more than 2 minutes to receive my order. To newcomers that may be put off by the large line, fear not! The staff are quick and extremely efficient, you won’t be waiting very long! The only issue I have with the shop is that it’s difficult to get a table to sit and eat, so be prepared to eat and shop instead! One of the best food shops at the market, and a great value too! I only wish they were in the food court section, where there isn’t such a hectic crowd of people.

Love love love the bratwurst here. Recommend the spicy bratwurst with mustard, cheese and sauerkraut. Get more sauerkraut. Love the sauerkraut!!! Theres usually a long line here so you cant miss it. The only issue is that you will probably end up eating it standing since it is pretty difficult to get seats around here. Doesnt matter though, because it is so good you will probably end up finish eating it before you get a table anyway: P

There’s something so satisfying about the crisp snap of biting into a perfectly cased sausage. Don’t pretend you don’t know what I’m talking about — it’s glorious and your mouth loves it as much as mine does. Which is why you need to get your mouth around one of these brats. Immediately. I, of course, went for the spicy bratwurst with all of the fixings, so it was piled high with mustard, tomato sauce, sauerkraut and grilled onions. The operation is streamlined and efficient, just as you’d expect from the country of the cuisine’s origin, so don’t be put off by the queue — just have your cash and order ready, collect, and enjoy. Oh, and I’d recommend canceling all of your afternoon meetings, or those held in person, anyway…

If you’re going to eat anywhere in the Queen Victoria Market, I highly recommend the Spicy Bratwurst, with sauerkraut! Ignore the lines, they go SO fast, you just have to shout your order :) Best bang for our buck in Australia!

I went here based on my husband telling me I had to try it, I definitely wasn’t disappointed. The line is quite intimidating but goes really fast and the menu choices are quite simple. I’m not much of a sauerkraut fan so I ended up getting it on my bratwurst and then removing it. We had just the plain simple pork beef mixture that’s not spicey at all and it was delicious. The bread is super yummy too and there’s so many delicious sauces to choose from! Best food to have at the market!

A little pricey(especially when I can get a $ 3 borek next door…) but good quality and filling bratwurst for when you get that craving.

Range of sausages, sauces and fillings makes this an awesome bratwurst shop. Every time I come to the Vic market this is a definite stop-off. Try the chilli chutney!

Another legend of the Vic Market. I am not such a fan of bratwurst(silly vegi-sympathiser that I am) so I get one with coleslaw, onions, cheese, mustard and tomato sauce. It is absolutely worth the awkwardness of eating messy food in public. Yum.

OK So how can you even do to Queen Vic Market and not walk past this shop. You can smell it from a mile away! Its pretty much your what it says the Bratwurst shop! They are always cooking some Bratwurst here and by far has to be the best in Melbourne. The lines are always long but well worth the wait. You can try your traditional ones or even the fancy ones with chilli and all sorts of Bratwurst. The food here is always fresh as i mentioned they are always cooking! The bread rolls are good and you know they don’t cheap out and use leftovers. So if you go the Queen Vic Market make sure you head to this little shop it will not disappoint!

One of the best bratwurst ever to go beond my lips. I had like the spicy brat, nicely seasond with a great snap to the outer casing when you bite into it, topped with spicy mustard and sourkraut. They have several different finds of Brats with lots of topping choices. I tried it because it had the biggest line when I entered the market and I guess there was a good reason why.

Verdict: Melbourne truly has perfected just about every imaginable cuisine, and as far as German food goes, Bratwurst Shop has the box more than checked. Star 1: How was the service and atmosphere? It’s great when a good meal has you leaving a restaurant with a smile on your face, but it’s even better when the service contributes to the experience just as much as the food. At Bratwurst Shop this is very much the case, and the three women behind the counter were among the friendliest I encountered while in Australia. With quick and friendly service, what’s not to love? Star Granted. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? Quality brats obviously come at a bit of a premium when compared to everyday hot dogs, and for that reason, I was more than happy to pay $ 6.80 for my Black Pepper Brat. Especially since it came on a large roll with a wide selection of toppings, this turned out to be a great deal especially with the $ 10+ threshold that is so common in Melbourne for a good meal out. Star Granted. On a separate occasion I went for the Spicy Pork and Beef with German Mustard for $ 6.40. Excellent: Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? Yum. While this wasn’t the best brat I’ve ever had(that honor goes to Los Angeles’ Wurstkuche ), my meal was excellent, and the brat was so flavorful that I could have easily enjoyed it without mustard or any toppings. Single Star Granted. Star 5: Would you eat here every day if you could? Having grown up in Germany, the country’s cuisine holds a special place in my heart, and Bratwurst Shop combines value with authenticity and tiptop service, meaning I’d gladly return on a daily basis. Star Granted.

If you’ve been to the Queen Vic Markets before you’ve probably noticed the crowds of people out the front chowing down giant hotdogs. The trail of dog-scoffers can be followed to the Bratwurst Shop just inside the deli section of the market. It’s always busy, this place, which means their German-style dogs are always fresh, too. There’s a range of sausages to choose from — mild, spicy, black peppercorn, cheese and plain pork amongst them. Top if off with some sauerkraut, cheese and sauce and you’ve got yourself one whopper of a delicious lunch! Vegetarians can go the«Light» option, which is just the toppings on a large crusty roll. Probably not as amazing, but for $ 3 it’s a good deal at least. Take it outside to a table or find a place to sit in the sun on the cement outside McDonald’s — one of the best lunches in Melbourne.

What more could you want in life than a spicy Bratwurst, the size of a baby’s arm, covered in mustard, tomato sauce, cheese and sauerkraut. Pretty much my idea of heaven. This hole-in-the-wall shop at the Queen Vic Market serves up the best Bratwursts that I’ve had in Melbourne. They have a variety of sausages to choose from, and their selection of condiments really sets them apart from the other Bratwurst vendors nearby.

A sausage in a bun is the perfect meal to have while shopping in the market. But this isn’t any old kind of sausage, we’re talking Bratwursts. You can get spicy, mild, or cheese with mustard, tomato relish, onions or shredded cheese. The skin had that satisfying pop when I bit into it. The sauerkraut didn’t taste like the stuff you get out of a jar, which is usually very vinegary, it was more like a mild, warm braised cabbage. Even the roll was deliciously soft and fluffy with a hint of crisp on the outside. Not bad for $ 6.00 — $ 7.00.
