I’ve always enjoyed dining here, it has pretty much been a favourite haunt for a friend and I for some time. The service is friendly, the orders arrive swiftly, the plates are meticulously presented and you can hold a conversation in a low whisper if you desire.
Although the menu choices on our last visit were by no means disappointing, they sadly didn’t evoke that wry smile and knowing head nod that we are so accustomed to sharing shortly after taking our first bite. We will return again soon, as I’m sure the pop will to the food.

Great vibes, food and drink prices. Mostly corporates but not bad for Friday afternoon drinks with $ 5 spirits from 4 – 6. Fish of the day is usually a steal and the pasta too. Love the use of fresh herbs in the food

We came here for a dinner related to an event, mainly because it was close to the event venue and could accommodate our group of 25 – 30. I didn’t organize the dinner, but I very happy with the service and the food. I had a salmon risotto that was delicious, in a well-​sized portion, and not at all pricey.
Happy hour was a pleasant surprise — $ 6 for a pint of beer and similar prices for wine and other drinks. The balcony is nice but it gets a bit smokey.

If you are lookng for a nice little hideaway in this part of town but you still want that modern feel, then Slate is for you. With a great rooftop bar area, fantastic upstairs dining room and a bar downstairs for the the rest of you this is the place to go!

This was a gem of a find. Set off the street and up a flight of stairs, the bar has a very nice covered outdoor area, well heated, large tables, great for groups large and small.
The beers ranged from cheap to expensive, and seemed to vary depending on who served us :-) Lots of seating both inside and out. Have not tried the restaurant, but the fries we had with our beers were rather tasty.
If I’m down that end of the city again I will definitely be visiting Slate.

Not a vegan option on the menu but they will make one up (which is a plus) although I have had to send back avocado on toast as they’ve included fetta one breakfast time. They do try and be groovy and then price everything to match, and the staff may look cool but they can’t serve — you queue for ever for a drink. Not my choice of venue but given it’s located about 10 metres from work we do use it a bit as a work function venue.

I love the food here. I think the wine list could be better arranged to go with the food.
In the past I have ordered lunches from here and the highlights were the steak and the afogato. Simply delicious food, great service if the wine list was a little bigger and better I would be sold!
