Char Kuey Teow was really good! And I came from Penang. Period. On Thu-Sat night, they offer dishes too. We ordered Deep Fried Quail which was so good– very flavoursome, well fried yet not to oily. Will go back for it too. The mabrown sauce fish fillet and mapo tofu were a let down though.

The Char Kueh Teow was good. Definitely hit the spot when you have a craving for Malaysian food. The spicy quail was good to but I won’t order the Mapo tofu again — very tofu — not very Mapo. Service was not great. We WERE the only people in the restaurant but found it hard to order or get drinks and clean cutlery

Overall a really good chicken laksa for an even $ 10 — also saw the prawn for the same price The chicken curry over the top of the hokkien and rice noodle soup with pieces of eggplant and green beans combined well Fast service to the table and even had disposable bibs for the suit set Plenty of people going through the take out is also a good sign that the food here is quality Will be back for another fix soon

Great curry laksa, or technically, a Curry Mee(curry noodles), which is similar to a laksa, but topped with curried chicken rather than shredded poached chicken. The curry soup was nice and spicy, no skimping on the spices here! Loads of lemongrass, star anise, coriander and chilli. Although spicy, it is tempered by enough coconut milk, but not enough to make it overly rich. This is a street-food branch of the original Mabrown Restaurant in Balwyn, run by the son, with the same chef, ie. his dad.
