«This doesn’t mean you’re off the hook for buying me stuff from the US you know!» — we overhear a girl saying to her boyfriend as they browse Australia’s first store. I don’t know what it is about Kate Spade, but she sure has some power over the lady folk of the world with her delightfully girly wares. Admittedly, I too have been a little weak at the knees when walking into the US or Singapore stores and then always regretted not bringing something home with me. So I was pretty pumped for the flagship store opening in Australia. Some of the stuff is a bit overpriced, but I find the wallets and handbags to be excellent quality and have carried my trusty wallet around for years with barely a scratch. The clothes are very pretty and girly, they definitely cater to those wanting a bit of colour and sparkle in their lives. I’m a fan. I grew up a bit tomboyish and have a pretty modest shoe and handbag collection, so it’s not my every day go-to shopping store, but for the occasional piece I’m happy to channel my inner girly-girl and go ga-ga over some shiny things for a moment.
