Hairy little sista stood out because of the relaxt atmosphere. We could still order«lunch» at 16.00h which was a great thing. Lunch was good! So was the coffee and the chips came with a little spicy sauce. All in all great value for $ 15.

Food was pretty good but the service and vibe is really great. Nice place to grab a reasonable meal and drinks.

Each time i’ve been here it’s been quiet(both times weekend lunchtime) This place does an ok job with food and coffee, but i’ve noticed a pretty good wine selection. I don’t know what it looks like here in the evening for drinks but it’s a relaxed place for daytime catch up with friends.

I wanted to like this place because I do quite enjoy Hairy Canary, even if it is a little overpriced. I came here for a bite during lunch hour. I should add that I was already in a bad mood so perhaps that slightly influenced my experience. Firstly, the interior doesn’t grab me. The essence of Hairy Canary is its intimate, homey feel. Here, the walls comprise sterile glass, and the tables and chairs are harsh against a cold floor. Then there was the food, which was equally unimpressive. All of our meals were tiny and expensive — the worst! For some reason I ordered scrambled eggs with sides, all of which left a lot to be desired. The only person who ordered well was my friend who had the burger. It seemed decent enough but you could get a burger from anywhere. The only redeeming feature of this place would be the outdoor area. If you’re looking for a great outdoor space for a coffee or a drink during the warmer months, this is definitely you’re place. Just don’t expect much from the food.

I had a really odd night out at Hairy Little Sista… Firstly, we started out receiving table(or couch) service from a guy who looked twelve years old, but when it ceased without announcement we were never charged for those first few drinks. I told the bar staff, but they didn’t seem concerned or try to track down our bill, although I guess I shouldn’t complain. Then for reasons unknown, we were offered a free tarot card reading from the resident psychic, and I accepted. Here’s a fairly indicative snippet of the reading: Psychic: What star sign are you? Me: Aquarius. Psychic: Hmm, I thought so… Yup, pretty freaky stuff. Anyway, the drinks were okay(six bucks for a glass of sangria!) and the amount of free stuff got me on side. Just as we were leaving to go for dinner, the DJ started and there was more of a party vibe — Hairy Little Sista is definitely the younger sibling, with the crowd and atmosphere both being noticeably looser than Hairy Canary.

The little sister to Hairy Canary, Hairy Little Sista is only three doors from its older, more established sibling. However, don’t expect a younger sibling complex because Hairy Little Sista has much to offer. In a venue that is predominately made of glass, Hairy Little Sista allows for a lot of natural lighting with an open and relaxed atmosphere. A venue that attracts the 9 to 5 crowd, it offers great coffee for their 9 am start and a good wine list for after work drinks. Similar to Hairy Canary, Hairy Little Sista is Spanish inspired, but also with a North African influence. Whilst I don’t see the North African influence, the food on the menu is good, nothing amazing, but good. I’m a fan of their smaller dishes, particularly the pork belly(who doesn’t love pork belly?) and croquettes. Whilst the staff can be a bit standoffish, you do have prompt service. For a more casual experience, I do prefer Hairy Little Sista to Hairy Canary.

There are good times to be had at any hour of Hairy Little Sista. The smaller cuter version of Hairy Canary found nearby, this Restaurant deals in Spanish/North African meals — big enough to share(or get two between three and a small something else) and a full bar to support it. The vibe inviting and warm, never too loud and most weekends packed full. Mornings are good — the coffee that comes out of the this place is never the same twice but never bad. It is not uncommon to find council workers from next door popping in for a cuppa before dashing back into their offices. For those wanting a little more seclusion from the thrawl of people and perhaps have a smoke and a wine the space out the back has a strange ghetto feel about it, and I’m not sure if they actually serve meals out there, but it’s nice in its own way. Open late you can sit at the bar a have a brew or two, but I wouldn’t recommend the standing drinking idea for more than a handful, you’re here to eat, and here to enjoy.
