So much flavour! We ordered vegetarian chilli noodles, chicken laksa and the char kway teow. Everything was delicious. The person who ordered the laksa reckons its the best one she has had. Would come here time and time again!

Stopped by after shopping with the partner with a craving for some Malaysian. The food looked amazing and it was really busy always a good sign. We had the Beef rendang and Laksa. We would rate the food 5 stars just like Malaymas in Fitzroy North or blue chillies in Fitzroy. Chinta Ria soul @ Emporium was awesome and for the price, you cannot go wrong!

I’ll be coming back here. The curry I ordered was really flavourful without being too spicy and was a satisfying size. It more closely resembled authentic Singaporean/Malaysian cuisine than most Australian approximations of it. They’ve got a lot of popular dishes from the region. Although the seating area is shared with other restaurants, the Emporium food court is much nicer and cleaner than most.

Ordinarily, you couldn’t pay me to eat food court Asian in Australia. But the ‘fancy’ café court at Emporium is a little cut above the rest, no bain-marie resting orange mystery meat here. Admittedly, I came to the food court for a salad. But… Malaysian + YOLO = me eating at Chinta Ria instead. It smelt too good to resist. I ordered the Char Kway Tow and my partner got the Nasi Goreng. Is the best we’ve had? No. Did we enjoy and devour the lot? You bet. This is quick and easy Malaysian and it’s tasty. I’m not normally into eating big rice dishes, but I snuck more than a few bites of that Nasi Goreng, and my KL-raised partner was a happy man. If you’re shopping at Emporium and in the food for a Malay fix, lunch for two will set you back around $ 20 and it will be fresh and tasty. Easy. I’d come back for more.

The Assam Fish on rice from the special lunch board sounds delicious, but that’s about as good as it gets. The fish is mushy and the sauce is too sweet. It tastes & looks like typical foodcourt fast food, but overpriced like in a proper restaurant. They don’t even offer a glass of water for that. There are far tastier alternatives just metres away on Swanston street, so it looks like this will be my first & last visit to this outlet.
