Quick, tasty coffee in relaxing surroundings. A popular haunt for Digital Media workers.

I met up with some friends for a coffee at Baraki and did not come away a fan of the place. My coffee arrived at the table as ordered, however my friends, yeah, well, not so fortunate. Friend 1: «Excuse me, my hot chocolate is cold» Response: «Would you like it hot?» A lukewarm replacement eventually arrived. Friend 2 was just as unfortunate and was told that her Banana bread had been sold to someone else, despite paying for it 10 minutes earlier. Wasn’t quite a Seinfeld episode, but had the makings of a good pilot.

Uh oh. Trouble. This place is trouble. Located in the intersection of Russell and Lonsdale, packed everyday especially at afterwork happy hour time. It is just so-hard-not-to-join-the-party!!! I mean they have live music, decent 2 full bars — one on the ground floor and one vodka bar upstairs(my favourite hehe). A small place overall but don’t be surprised by its strict security setup. There are at least 6 bouncers in the place just to make sure you’re safe! i’d give bonus point for that! :) Drinks are fairly expensive. I won’t buy myself a cocktail unless I’m with a bunch of PAYBOYS as they are $ 16 each. Very impressed by their beer list, though. They have various range of imported beer on the menu including my favourite french beer Kronoberg 1946! Good place to do bar hopping with. My recommendation for next stop: REDHUMMINGBIRD(just next door) then EMERALDPEACOCK(across the road of Westpac) to complete the night! :)
