If you need a quick coffee fix at the top end of town — Axil is a great grab and go option. A standing room only coffee bar, these guys churn out delicious Axil espresso and filter swiftly and with a smile.
They have a small selection of pastries on offer and for regulars, you can buy a coffee card to pay in advance for coffees and just get them stamped to reduce your time in store even more.
Eftpos is available, but there’s a $ 10 minimum so have cash handy or load up on tasty sweets to use card. I justified purchasing a custard tart to use my card and it was pretty awesome.

Good, strong, flavoursome coffee, the guys and girls there are friendly, and you never have to wait long.
They order in from Doughboys Doughnuts on Fridays, which are awesome, but they sell out quick!

What’s not to love about Axil’s?

Pretty Ace. A nice new little fit out in Flinders lane near EDV. There’s a variety of coffee on offer display along the shelving or you can pick up a pretty decent cup for take away or drink in. I managed to score a $ 10 bag of coffee as a special, for take home use. Quite the deal indeed. I’m hoping to come back to Axil to try it more than once, but so far, all the signs are good. I probably won’t be wrong in saying there’s huge queues as well, so you might need to be strategic about which time you go.

A top quality coffee. It’s a tiny set up that is super cute, this doesn’t hinder their coffee making ability tho. I love a good coffee and the latte I got from their was in the top few that I have had. The staff were super nice and the service was excellent. Not heaps of table space but an awesome spot to grab a take away!

Could not agree more with Emma’s review. This little gem of a coffee shop makes a mean takeaway, and is worth the walk for CBD coffee aficionados. They also do great soy coffees, which can be so hard to find.
Keep in mind, though, while Axil is great for coffee and small sweet takeaway nibbles, this definitely isn’t the place for a sit down catch up (and is pretty small for standing up catch ups too).

This new addition to the axil family is well received. Popping up on the corner of flinders lane and exhibition they provide excellent coffee with a few sweet treats and beans. The set up is simple with a big bar for making coffees and those wishing to enjoy their coffee on site it’s standing room only.
I’ve tried their coffee a couple of times now and I was impressed by the quality, taste and fast efficient friendly service. Price pint is also good at $ 3.50, on par with competition in the area.
I really love the huge mural on the back wall. It adds some colour and character up the tiny space. If you’re after a little treat to go with your coffee the gingerbread men are awesome. More cake than biscuit they are not too rich and at $ 2.50 completely affordable.
I think I may have found my new coffee place.
