Have had a great brekkie here previously and today had a fantastic lunch! They have 2 vego burgers to choose from, as well as vego pizzas– so much choice! I went for the mushroom & haloumi burger and oh my god I’m so glad I did!!! Crumbed haloumi that was perfectly cooked and not at all greasy, beautiful Swiss mushies & an awesome roasted capsicum aioli.

Based on what I read online, I was expecting something a bit more refined, but the Tin Shed Café is really just a country bistro in the main strip of McLaren Vale. I have certainly had better. Service was ok not especially warm or friendly. Drinks arrived promptly but the food took over 45 minutes to arrive. Yes it was a Monday public holiday but we were there just after the lunch«peak hour» rush. Order at the counter. Stick to the deep fried food(e.g. s&p squid) and beer or coffee and you’ll be right. C-list wines by the glass except for Wirra Witra Church Block, surprised me a bit since this is in smack in the middle of a well known wine region. The pizzas were well priced and tasted ok but over cooked the day we were there. Most of the customers the day we were there were ordering buckets of chips, burgers, pizzas and beer. Outdoor areas at the front and back. The coffee here is supposed to be good but I haven’t tried it.

Based on rave reviews a group of us visited the Tin Shed for lunch with a friend from interstate. The experience was disappointing with basic food and below average service. My meal was forgotten, I understand this happens from time to time however, when I asked if my meal was on its way the waiter and cooks decided it was necessary to go through the receipts for our booking in front of me to find the order they had missed. I felt as though I was under investigation for trying to scam a free meal. Once they found it, all I got was a «it will be out soon» no apology or acknowledgement of the mistake. My fish and chips arrived as my friends were finishing(again no apology for the wait) and it was ok. It was a decent sized basic meal. There are so many amazing restaurant options in the area, I was disappointed with our experience and will be looking for somewhere else to dine next time we visit McLaren Vale.

This is a great spot to meet friends and enjoy a lovely afternoon sipping wine. The menu is limited but the food is great. There is a back area too that would be great for a private event.

Great little café with amazing pizza! Whilst it certainly is a little quirky as it is a tin shed the atmosphere is great and plenty of outdoor space at front and the rear. The food is really good and the pizza was amazing! The staff are very friendly and the prices are reasonable considering the area. Definitely worth a visit.

After reading the other reviews here, I wasn’t sure what to expect! We came here for brekkie after a big night, and the menu online looked pretty good. There is plenty of seating(both inside and outside) at this place(unfortunately there *were* some old cyclists in full regalia outside, which always puts non-cyclists off — but that’s not the café’s fault!), but every time we have driven past it has been super-busy. Luckily, we visited first thing on a Saturday morning, so there was plenty of room! I ordered the breakfast item that wasn’t on the online menu — the ‘Breakfast Tacos’ — basically it was a couple of tortillas with bacon, scrambled egg, a hash brown and their house-made salsa. OMG, it was a breakfast-lover’s delight!!! Absolutely delicious and not too much … I am thinking right now of how I can get back there to have it again! Staff were friendly and prices were very reasonable indeed. This is definitely a place we will come to again — probably not at peak periods though!

Disappointing service arrived at 11:25 went to get menu & told can’t order any food as breakfast closes @ 11:30 so will need to wait until lunch menu begins in 30 mins or so. Several bike riders also disappointed at the service and left to find another place.

Along the main road through the town of McLaren Vale is the Tin Shed Café. They follow through with the gimmick name: it really does have tin walls, and a tin roof, and tin bathrooms. It’s also a perfectly serviceable, mostly ordinary café. It’s got indoor tables and outdoor tables, both in front and in a back courtyard. Make use of the umbrellas, it can get pretty hot out here. Typical stuff on the menu, but their speciality is their pizza. There are several to choose from, in two sizes. My dining companions found theirs to be OK; mine was spicy and excellent. Wines are good, as you’d expect from the region.
