So there I was catching the train to somewhere in suburbia for a gurls(and guy) long overdue catch up. I was really looking forward to a few laughs and, from the previous reviews, didn’t have great expectations about anything else. Happily, the food and service were top notch too. The lamb was fantastic and tender. The wine list was well proportioned and the desserts were decadent(as a good dessert should be). Kind, friendly waiters were quick with a humerous quip and attentive with the beverages. Our long lunch extend to 4 pm and the staff were only too happily to have us stay on.

I like that I’m always greeted like an old friend. The guys have obviously been working together for a while as the floor service runs like a well oiled machine. I always feel like they really want me to have a good evening. We couldn’t decide between two dishes Eggplant, capsicum, basil & goats cheese roulade bake with spiced tomatoes Napoli for $ 28 and the Lentil spinach Dahl w saffron & pea rice, pita bread & condiments $ 26 both choices were listed as Gluten Free on the menu. So we opted to share. Both were delicious and well presented. The eggplant had some heat in it and was a little too cheese for me but only because I’m trying to cut back. Both were also extremely generous portion sizes. Extremely! This was a Saturday night dinner for two. We’d booked the previous Tuesday because I’d been disappointed before. Good thing I did as the place was packed. So my Tip: book in advance! If your after atmosphere, friendly greetings and good food in the suburbs this is a good place to start. Recommended.

Fabulous is all that it isn’t. This restaurant has been around for a while, and it’s popularity can probably be explained by its lack of local competition. It sure isn’t the food that gets the people in. I’ve had both lunch and dinner here because my partner lives in the area, and I was underwhelmed by both meals. Lunch was a chicken salad, which was tasty enough but so shockingly overpriced. The worst part is the arrogance with which each dish is served, as though no one has prepared a chicken salad before. Dinner comprised the steamed salmon, which I know can be a bit lackluster at the best of times. I feel, though, that if you’re going to put in on the menu then you should be able to offer some sort of flavour. Instead, I consumed the meal with the consistent thought that I was paying 35 dollars for a slab of tasteless protein.
