We jumped in here after being turned off by PHD next door; what a 180 degree turn! Staff was super friendly and helpful, making suggestions. We had an order of egg rolls and a bowl of chewy rice noodles with meat and seafood, all delicious, fresh, and well prepared with great flavors. They were even gracious enough for me to eat my sandwich from Marrickville Pork Roll(5 stars!) while my wife dined on her noodle bowl. Great Vietnamese restaurant not only in the Sydney area but in general. And I didn’t think the prices were unreasonable.

We stumbled across this little gem as I wanted to go to the Cornersmith next door. Seeing as it was raining and a tad cold Phở seemed like a much more appetising option. Walking in I felt as if I had walked into the heart of Hanoi in Vietnam. It was completely authentic with really friendly enthusiastic staff. We opted for the traditional Phở, Hai Nam chicken and fresh prawn rice paper rolls. Holy Phở it was delicious, really rich fragrant broth that came with an accomplishment of bean shoots, basil, chill and lemon. One of the best Phở soups I’ve had in a while. The Hai Nam chicken was tender and succulent, the rice had been cooked in a broth and was full of flavour. The rice rolls were also tasty. Such a great little find, will be going back to try more. The menu was extensive and full of traditional favourites. I did eyeball the spicy crab and tomato soup from across the room with much envy. Can’t wait to visit again!

I was running errands and STARVING and feeling a little flu-ey, I looked up and thought, YES! Vietnamese. SOUP. That’s what I need in my belly now. I walked in without looking at the menu and asked for a phở and spring rolls. OKie dokie, spring rolls were good. Phở… broth and beef were VERYGOOD. But I got no plate of lime/lemon and herbs/bean sprouts, etc. That stuff makes it so yummy. I didn’t have anything to drink, I had my own water. I went to pay the bill… $ 18! That’s pretty pricey for phở and spring rolls and no drink. Maybe I’m still spoilt by American prices for things and… Phở 236 in Newtown. Meh.
