Pretty awesome, the view was a delicious as the food. Attentive staff, the menu was bit confusing, do ask for the daily menu that is separate. I loved the kitchen cam that you can watch what’s going on the large screen.

The food was on-point. Menu could be slightly intimidating for those whose not familiar with the seafood terminology, however the staffs were extremely helpful and took their time to give their recommendations. I had the fuccutia with taramasala sauce as the app and big blue eyed travella(wood oven roasted) as my entrée. Both are delicious and in particular the fish was done to perfection(charred on the outside and moist in the inside)

After reading the reviews I was expecting something amazing. But it really wasn’t. Not for the price that you are paying. So for salmon you will be paying $ 35, and honestly for that price I am expecting the salmon to be one of the best cooked salmons I’ve had. I was hoping for a Master Chef moment where I can comment on the slight taste of dill, and the cleansing ‘something’ on the palate. But the salmon was ordinary — the same as I would expect from a bar. The snapper pie is probably the best thing on the menu — but again not that amazing that I’d pay $ 38 for. Sorry, maybe I’m expecting too much — but I expect a different quality of food from a restaurant to a pub. And sorry but food here was similar. The best thing about the restaurant is where it is situated — on the wharf. You get a great view. And the staff here are extremely attentive and polite. And they make the experience top notch. So if you don’t mind spending a bit of money come along — but don’t get your hopes up for amazing seafood.

Perhaps I have just been spoiled lately and the bar has been set too high but this place was not as good as I had hoped. We ordered a few items to start to share and they were good but hard to screw up so no points for toasted focaccia, olives or oysters. The octopus was really good and the scallops were alright although the sauce was maybe a bit rich for scallops I thought. I asked for a wine menu at one stage and they brought one but forgot to come back to take my order, so after quite a while my date got up and asked someone to come over. They gave me the wine on the house which was nice and the wine was delicious. It was Mt. Difficulty Pinot Gris. Then my main came and it was sooooo salty. I like salt but it really was kind of ruined. Apparently they are supposed to put a dash of salt on top which they thought maybe the chef had put too much but the whole thing tasted salty and I got it with the chat potatoes which had bacon and kale so that was also salty which just meant it was a pretty overly salted underwhelming dish. I wasn’t super hungry after the starters so I wouldn’t have said anything but since I had barely finished my main they did ask if everything was alright with the food which I was impressed with and servers in Australia are often quite complacent. They offered me a desert on the house and to be honest it was medium. It was a dark chocolate assiete AKA3 chocolate deserts. Two of the items were fine but not amazing, the mousse was pretty delicious though. I found the ambiance to be quite loud and no real décor. The tables were just placed all over and you felt kind of in the way, a server even bumped into our table and moved it quite a bit. You couldn’t really see the water but the flames outside were quite nice. There were also cameras into the kitchen on display on a number of big TVs which I also thought was weird. I assume chefs are doing their job, I do not need to spy in on them. I appreciated that the servers were concerned about the wine delay and the overly salty fish. We had about 4 servers over the course of the meal though which was sort of confusing. I wouldn’t go back but everyone else seems to love this place so maybe it was just a few bad things at once. My date enjoyed his salmon,

The best place we have had dinner in Australia/Sydney during our 3.5 week holiday! The location is perfect being in the bay of manly wharf and the atmosphere is trendy and enjoyable. We ordered the ‘fruit du mere’ which was a great variety of different fish as starter and main. The Spanish lady who serviced us was a great host amongst other things recommending us to not let everything being served at the same time(normal set up.) as it gets cold before you have time to eat it. This combined with a bottle of nice Italian wine made a lovely evening for us. Don’t forget to bring lots of money but it’s worth it ;-).

Extraordinary! We were looking for a place out of the rain. We feasted on one great dish after another and enjoyed the wine over 5 hours, pretty sure we had one of everything — not one weak dish, service was exceptional — snapper pie was especially good.

Garfish is a great place to have a civilized lunch of absolutely delicious seafood with excellent service. Do yourself a favor and try all the oysters, seared scallops, bugs, and scampi.

Garfish is the most amazing seafood restaurant, in fact one of the best restaurants in Sydney. The bugs are a MUST. They are melt in our mouth good. Beautiful food and atmosphere. I highly recommend booking a reservation next time you visit Manly. It is pretty packed every day of the week so make sure you book a table ahead of time! It’s pretty pricey, perfect for a special occasion.

Great food. Tried the scallop entrée, the calamari and the spinach goat cheese salad. All were delicious. My party had the salmon, prawns and John Dory. All were good. The only reason it didn’t score a five is that it took a very long time to get our food.

Well all I can say is … brilliant Food superb, Wine superb, Service Excellent Location superb(for Manly … Great views) and for those who can’t think if anything else to do you can always watch what’s going on in the kitchen thanks to internal cameras being displayed on plasma screens. Price probably on the high side but it’s definitely worth it :)

Small serves. High prices. I think most people are over this sort of thing. Great location. Great place for tourists. Food is good but not great. Nothing out of the ordinary here. Lots of places in Manly for better quality food at a lower price and a bigger portion.

Headline: Seafood Heaven This is a very classy place — nicely contemporary, quiet but bustling, in a mostly pedestrian area of Manly. Come here on a Friday night and we were still able to get a table no problem. Let’s start with appetizers — the seared scallops with black pudding are a must have. You will hit yourself repeatedly in the head if you do not order these. They are completely mind-blowingly amazing. The squid(or calamari as the americans like to call it) are good too — none of that tenticales bit — just nice slices of squid in a tempura batter with a nicely spicy sauce on the side. For my main course, I got the Barramundi, wood-fire oven roasted with a crispy skin, turned on a bed of mushrooms, artichokes and bacon. You can’t go wrong with bacon and the chef prepared this one so that it didn’t overpower the dish. The barramundi was the star. It’s a slightly sweet but meaty fish, similar in many ways to cod. The skin was not greasy at all. For dessert, I highly recommend the Belgian waffle tasting trio. Chocolate, hokey pokey ice cream are my favorites of the ones I tried. You can’t go wrong with this dish though. Another good one is the cheese platter, if your tastes skew towards the savory. This restaurant should most definitely be on everyones list of places to go in Sydney.

Classy seafood restaurant overlooking Manly wharf. We went with a group of friends to celebrate our visit back to Sydney and we were very pleased. Service is friendly and down to earth, food is fresh with a combination of blackboard specials and standard menu items. A favorite among the group was the snapper pie with a nice flaky pastry. I enjoyed the Moreton Bay Bugs which are one of my favorite Aussie delicacies, but was also tempted by the numerous fish specials on the menu. The waffle dessert are specialty of the restaurant and are decently tasty. Highly recommend for a group of friends looking for a classy meal to celebrate together with a nice view.

This is a beautiful restaurant, with a beautiful view. the service is outstanding and you get given all the fish information you might need to order what ever it is you after. They will go as far as to help you pick win and a matching starter for the main you are after. WARNING: if you have a voucher you will need to use the whole amount for you visit they don’t offer change of any kind for vouchers. This said the place is expensive and that is my main gripe

This is one of my favourite restaurants in Manly. Any excuse and I am here. I love the Fruits Delmar Platter. Its perfect to help settle you in for a long lunch on a sunny afternoon. Also try the Beetroot and Goats cheese salad… yum. I do have a gripe… After feeling like fish and chips on the beach and knowing how great the bear battered fish is in their restaurant I ordered some for takeaway… Mistake…fish seemed old, batter was soggy and oily + the price was similar to the restaurants menu… Hmmm Disappointed. Yes I will be back but I will just stick with dining in the restaurant.

Don’t think there is very much I can add on the food front for Garfish. It’s a winner — regular appearances in the Herald Good Food Guide, multiple award winner for food quality and other food standard awards, good corporate citizen etc etc. Yep, it’s definitely a winner on the food front, an icon on the Sydney gourmet stage. And it’s location is great too — ok, it is a step or two back from the surf side of Manly, but the yachts bobbing in the harbour, the sunset and the metronome of the Manly ferry arriving and departing are perfectly lovely. I just have a word or two to say on ambience … the tables are very close together, the floors are wooden and the walls are glass, so it’s noisy. On a good night this can translate as convivial, with a group it doesn’t matter, but if you’re looking for a tête-à-tête, be prepared for lip reading or specifically request a quiet corner(which might mean sacrificing your view).

Sip Sauvignon Blanc as you recline in your chair and look out to picturesque views of Manly beach. Garfish is one of Manly’s best seafood restaurants and has a wide range of fresh and tasty dishes. BYO is a major attraction, but they also have a variety of cocktails listed in the wine menu. The mussels were simply divine and the dessert menu very tempting! If you prefer fish, you can select from a variety of fish and choose the way you wish it to be cooked. If you’re with a group, you might like the try one of the seafood platters they have available. The dishes may be a little expensive– you’re probably paying for the amazing view more than anything. With so many people dining at Garfish it can also get a little noisy. It can be difficult to get the attention of waiters. However, the restaurant’s atmosphere is appealing and along with the food, it makes for a good night out.
