My friends and I came upon this place walking down Glenferrie Road desperate for a place to eat that also had EFTPOS services. Unfortunately for Café Sakura, if I had to use one word to describe that establishment, it’s «mediocre». Customer Service: I think it might have been a bit understaffed. There was only one poor girl working and it caused a bit of a wait for things — even for the water. Food: My friend ordered Salmon Sashimi, which came in a little takeaway box with the miniature soy sauce bottles. I pinched a bit of her dish because I personally LOVE Salmon Sashimi, but the fish seemed a bit unappetising. Rather than a cool, refreshing taste, the Sashimi was luke-warm… I asked for Beef Yakiudon. Yakiudon is supposed to be pan-fried to deliciousness, but my meal, despite having nice flavours was very watery and soup-like. After tasting my friend’s Beef Udon Soup, I realised that it was pretty much the exact same thing — my Yakiudon just had less of the soup. — Still, I have to hand it to Café Sakura for having good prices. But when it comes to some delicious Japanese cuisine, this establishment unfortunately does not do it justice.
