Went tonight based on Unilocal reviews. The food was beautiful but more so than that was the service. The owner(I missed his name) was so accommodating and understanding of my toddler son not feeling particularly well. He treated us like royalty and happily had our food made up for takeaway upon my request. This place is a gem tucked away in an unassuming row of shops. We will be back!

Excellent food! Very authentic, warm and friendly family oriented service! I have been to Los. latinos numerous times and the Yuca Frita is s must every visit.(El Salvador style kasava with pork) . The breakfast are great option because you can choose from different central and south American options. The pupusas are the Los latinos staple plate that you can’t miss. Make sure you order a few to share with everyone. Add curtido and tomato sauce on them so you can be in heaven.

I went here for my birthday and am glad I did. A fantastic find this was. Food was great and really enjoyable especially the arepes. I really loved the special touch that the manager went to make me feel special. Recommended for some great authentic south american food.

This place is such an awesome find(once again, I thank thee Unilocal for getting us into it) you honestly wouldn’t think the area it’s at would house such a good restaurant. This is real home style Mexican and its bursting with flavour. And it’s soooo filling and cheap. I was not disappointed and it’s guaranteed food coma. Service is friendly and mega helpful — I like service where they’re honest with whether you over ordered or not! I think I was craving corn based things like chips and bread for a few days. Will be coming back again!

I don’t usually go for Mexican, but this was a great experience and all tucked away in the most incongruous of places.

This place is amazing. Not good, but great. Coming from southern california, the one thing I have missed is good latino food. While places like los amates fulfills the mexican itch, Los Latinos satisfies me in a completely different way. They hit on all the greats of several different regions. My go to combination of items is the Yucca Frita con chicharrones, the lomo saltado(i’ve been amazed at how hard it is to find a good lomo saltado in australia), and the papusas. All of them come perfectly seasoned and with the right tang and flavours. My personal favourite is the sauce on the Yucca frita, its a lovely salty, slightly sour broth which goes perfectly with the fried yucca. The downsides: 1 the location. It is in the middle of nowhere. Luckily I live in nowhere so its not too bad, but bloody hard to get friends to come out to eat there. 2. The place aesthetically looks like a bit of a hole from the outside, but inside is warm and the staff are lovely. I’m salivating just thinking about it. Can’t wait to go back.

Los Latinos may look dingy, it may not be in the city but it does great and authentic South American food. Despite all of that, it still gets busy in the evenings and requires bookings for a reason. The food is extremely well priced for the quality and quantity. There’s a great selection from all over the region; with a couple of odd additions(which I’m sure are meant to be child friendly) like hot dogs. The service here is also homely and really lovely. I’d highly recommend leaving traditional haunts to pay this place a visit.

This place is probably THE best place in Melbourne for South American food. Don’t be fooled by its location — yes, it’s in the middle of nowhere. And yes, the venue may not ‘look’ delicious — trust me, it is! Not only is dinner delicious, but also breakie! The Los Latinos team have just introduced a new menu for 2012 and it’s also amazing. So far from the new menu I can recommend the: — Yucca: a delicious shallow fried, kind of ‘chip’ — Papusas: hand made El Salvadorian corn tortilla filled with beans and cheese(they have at least 5 other fillings) — Fajitas: Amazing. — the mixed grill(can’t remember its name on the menu), but it includes quail, prawns, meat and sides. It’s great to share and delicious too. — lime margaritas(for $ 10 how could you not turn that down?) — Inca Cola(yes, the coke version… still great) We also went here for Merry-archi Christmas. A mariachi band played whilst we ate a 3 course dinner. And, after dessert, the tables were pushed to the side and we all got up to dance. Lots and lots of fun! I would recommend booking ahead if planning to eat dinner Thurs — Sat nights. Breakfast is served on the weekends — so yummy too!

I really felt like I was somewhere other than Melbourne. Great mariachi band Los Romanticos serenading us. I’d like to come back and try food from their regular menu.
