Arrived at approximately 6:30 with a group of 13. Drink prices appeared reasonable — Boags Draught $ 6, Japanese Asashi Beer $ 7 and most bottles of wine approx $ 20.00. Due to the size of our group it did mean that space was somewhat limited. We were first offered a drink. Next most ordered entre’s. The variety available, coupled with a good spread in prices meant that everyone would have felt comfortable making a purchase. During the course of the evening I observed many other tables come in, order and then leave. I expect that if you’re waiting to eat, you become abundantly aware of this! The restaurant could have made more money had it offered drinks more frequently. At 8:20 our main meal arrived. A little problem(it’s only minor) was when the meals were brought out the waiter/waitress didn’t recall who had what. This meant that as each plate came out the question was posed«Who had xxxx?». Don’t forget that we’re eating at a foreign food restaurant with Japanese names and served by people with Japanese accents. I didn’t think it went as smoothly as it possibly could have. Most people were happy with their meals. The general consensus was that the meals were tasty but not the best Japanese ever eaten. Mind you, hunger is a good sauce! When it came time to pay the bill the restaurant advised that they didn’t split bills as it creates confusion. This was stated on the inside of the menu so it’s not as though they were not disclosing it from the get go. Personally I find it to be a bit of a pain in the proverbial when you’ve got 13 people wanting to pay for their meals yet the restaurant refuses to accept payment in any other way other than how they dictate. We bring in 13 mouths to feed yet it’s some burden for them to process separate payment? It leaves a bad taste in the mouth when they do say«no» and would be part of the reason I’d be less inclined to go back.
