I made the decision to visit this quaint little place not too long ago with my boyfriend. This restaurant has real vintage vibes from the furniture, to the background music and down to the actual building itself.(Not to mention the array of colourful artwork hanging from the walls; which can be purchased). It somewhat reminded me of having dinner in my great-grandmother’s home. The staff are super welcoming, it is as if you are having dinner in their home, very heartwarming. I can’t exactly recall what I had for dinner, but nonetheless it was a delicious, hearty plate of food. I believe it was duck with home made pasta, with some tossed dates(I think) and cabbage in the dish. Super delicious. The atmosphere there is wonderful, and at night it is quite ambient.

This is a very homestyle family run restaurant with cute and quirky décor. I only know the breakfast menu so I can’t really elaborate on the style of dishes they have — the breakfast we had was pretty standard and the staff were very friendly :)

The Tin Cat is one of the best venues for creatively produced food served with style and friendly smiles. Our lunch featured a beautiful spinach soup with fetta and chilli, roast cauliflower with labneh and pomegranate and a soft shell crab poh boy. Simply delightful.

Just borderline of the CBD you will find this cute little café known mostly by it’s neighbouring businesses. Tin Cat Café is super cute and cosy. It has a lovely vintage feel and is perfect for a lunch business meeting or just for catching up with your girlfriends. The building it seems is an old residence renovated into a café and has that homely charm. The café is separated into three dining areas, and mostly suits groups of no more than 6 people. You could probably fit more, however, I would advise to ring in advance. Tin cat supports local artists by displaying and selling some really cool pop art. In particular some stitched pieces caught my eye. They had great detail and incorporated around three different types of stitches. A lot of talent has gone into those little pieces. Oh, if only I had more money! The staff at this café are really welcoming, accommodating and helpful. They are happy to talk you through the menu and what they have on offer for the day. For a little café they really offer some quality produce and beverages. Check out their menu. For a business lunch I ordered an amazing French styled platter with roasted garlic, brie, aioli, pâté and fruit bread. To compliment(of course) a lovely glass of Adelaide Hills shiraz. This was a very lovely meal. Perfect to share and to enjoy on a Friday afternoon. The roasted garlic and brie on the crunchy bread was so delicious. I am very impressed Tin Cat Café. I look forward to my return.

Very nice food & beautiful outdoor area. The Morrocan spiced eggs were yummy breakfast. Leisurely but very friendly service. Also very nice lunch menu. If the coffee improved it would be 5 stars.

dined in at tin cat café for lunch. beautiful spot with a ‘homey’ feel and inspiring artwork to keep the eyes entertained. exceptional table service, very impressed with our waitress. she had an incredible knowledge of not only the menu but also the cooking processes, techniques and flavours used in the dishes. I had the eggplant and porcini mushroom ragu with polenta. perfect for a cold rainy day!

Exquisite. Nothing seems to be too hard for the great team at Tin Cat Café. I took my partner for a belated V-Day dinner – with a last minute booking, I might add – and they were only too happy to squeeze us in and ensure I had a decent vegan meal. The space is beautiful. It’s an old terrace house that has been restored none too much. The space is rustic but with a little shine. Concrete floors line nooks and corridors dripping in local artwork. A little shy on your first date? Look around, you’ll find something to talk about. The service is attentive and personal. There is no hoity-toitiness at Tin Cat which the cloth napkins may lead one to expect. Owner, Claire, ensured I – the tricky vegan – was well catered for. I had a range of entrees, mains and desserts to choose from. Unheard of, I tell you. Now the exquisite part. The food. It was interesting and delicious. Can you ask for anything more? I was served stuffed zucchinis with sweet and savoury cous cous and garlic croutons. Portion size was probably too big but I happily got through it. We ordered roast spuds on the side: crispy and well seasoned. My partner opted for the chicken breast with asparagus purée and panzanella salad. It was precisely seasonal and beautifully presented. The asparagus purée, he tells me, should have been served by the litre. Perfect place for a date. One of the best small restaurants in Adelaide. 4.99÷5 VF — When booking make sure you inform them of your veganness that way they can ensure there is something super dooper delicious available to you. On my visit they offered a couple of warm salads for entrée, stuffed zucchini for main and a stewed fruit and berry dish for dessert. Talk about catering!

Enjoyable café that is house within an old school terrace house. Sitting outside under the billowing trees is a relaxing experience with a finely brewed coffee. The service is really nice, they cater to many diet and allergies without batting an eye lid, rolling an eye, basically anything with their eyes you won’t see it. They have your back. Retroy, hippie, hispters, yuppies alike. They’ll all find enjoyment from just looking at this place.

The Tin Cat is one of those places I didn’t want to love because the hipster people carry on like it’s their little secret. But I went, and I loved, yes I did. This bohemian gallery/café set in a terrace house has absolutely delicious food, and great service. My friend had her hen’s day lunch here recently and the staff took excellent care of us, and every dish we had was delicious. I had the fish and though I can’t remember what kind it was(champagne) it was in the creamiest sauce and I cleaned the plate despite the fact I’d vowed not to eat because of the tightness of my skirt. The food is not cheap, just to be clear. But it’s worth every penny. This place is also child friendly(especially the back garden) and they take good care of families. Some places get a lot of buzz because they have earned it and Tin Cat is one of them. Why not check out their art exhibitions during Sala/Adelaide Festival/Fringe and have a bite? Meow.

My friends held their surprise wedding here recently. A long weekend, they chose the Sunday for their ‘engagement party’ and typical of our friends and acquaintances we had all been out on the lash the night before — it was a saturday after all and so were not feeling the freshest to say the least. Tin Cat changed our squinty eyes and surly dispositions as they expertly plied us all with the hair of many dogs and delicious, bulging platters of the most exquisite canapes. In fact we were all getting along so famously and having such a lovely time in the sun dappled courtyard that the the surprise of the wedding ceremony which was launched upon us was a little overwhelming. Indeed I obtained the nickname of ‘Cry-ey McCry Face’, given to me by a complete stranger *cringe*.(I think he may have been a pulitzer prize winner with that sort of ingenious word-smithery) The setting was just a perfect place to shock the living daylights out of their friends and family. The bright happy colours, rustic décor and relaxed vibe helped us process. Everytime I visit I enjoy the art on the walls as they seem to frequently host high quality exhibitions by a variety of local artists.

I am honestly surprised that I am the first person to review the Tin Cat Café! After only having been there once I have been captivated by its quirkiness and good quality food. Located in the back streets of Kent Town, it is possible to almost miss the place as it blends so perfectly into the old fashioned décor around it. There are no bells and whistles just a lot of white paint and a couple of different sections of seating areas. For breakfast we were seated outside in a little quaint backyard complete with pot plants and little shed out the back. There is ample seating out the back and makes for a nice place to sit when the weather is fine. The breakfast was excellent and as I don’t really eat eggs, they were happy to create a dish for me out of the ‘extra’s’. The mushrooms were particularly good as was the hollandaise although I was unsure whether it was house made or not. A friend ordered the muesli and fruits which came served in a gorgeous little glass and looked promising as a cold breakfast option. Make sure you make a booking because it is the best kept secret, but still can get quite busy. Also, check out their really comprehensive website for heaps of great information.
