Great for a weekend coffee and breakfast. Window bench seating, high tables and booth type seating. Causal towards family friendly atmosphere. Table service that is friendly, but efficient. My window seat allowed view of the dynamics of the outside world, and I was completely comfortable as an individual patron. An overall highlight worth noting is that their bacon is an cut that I’m not familiar with, and is more juicy than the standard bacon rashes cut used in most breakfast servings.(Worth visiting just to have same different bacon.) On the negative side, the bacon and eggs dish that I’ve ordered on my first visit came with an overly sweet chutney.(Luckily on the side of the plate). Consider asking for the chutney not to be served if you don’t seen the value of sweets with your breakfast proteins. My long black coffee had a lovely sour sweet bitter flavour profile that transitioned with each mouthful(and I note that the same flavour complexity was repeated on my second visit, suggesting the barista know her stuff). Vittoria coffee. Price wise, a little expensive, but I enjoyed my coffee and the workman’s sandwich(that I discovered on my 2nd visit) so much that this combination might become a regular treat.

«Best breakfast I’ve had in Brisbane,» said a friend. I laughed. That’s a big claim. But come Sunday morning my partner and I ventured off to Main St Café at the Story Bridge Hotel to see what the fuss was all about. And low and behold, best breakfast I’ve had in Brisbane in a long time. First off, the café itself is gorgeous. Big open space, lots of different seating options, beautiful fresh flowers. That perfect weekend vibe that makes you want to sit down with a book and drink endless cups of coffee. The staff were lovely and attentive. It may sound simple and obvious, but it’s so lovely to be greeted when you walk into a café or restaurant. It’s surprising how often it doesn’t happen. I ordered the pancakes and my partner had the eggs benedict. He said the eggs benedict was awesome — ham double smoked in house and homemade hollandaise sauce — and he is a harsh judge. My pancakes were freshly made and delicious — absolutely massive serving, I couldn’t finish it! Great coffee. Don’t miss out on this little gem.

This is the new bar area at the Story Bridge Hotel — next door to Deery’s Restaurant. I was really impressed by the fit-out and service. I found it to be a cross between a beer garden and a swanky Raffles style bar. I’d like to return to spend a few more hours here(we only grabbed a quick pre-dinner drink) It would be a great place to catch up with friends — away from the rabble that can sometimes go on at the other side of the pub. Please check out this lovely bar !
