They get the most of their natural features around here. The cliffs are impressive viewed from afar. Up close, separated bike and pedestrian paths run across land and occasionally boardwalks over the length of the cliffs, passing picnicking sites and athletic facilities along the way. A couple of sets of stairs scale the cliffs if you want a workout, which the people of Brisbane seem to because there are tons of workout classes on the parklands atop the cliffs, as well as some broad views of the city.
Transit access is a little weaker than some other local spots, with only one stop on the slower of the Brisbane boat services (the faster CityCat skips this area completely for some reason), and few buses to be had even on the top side. But if you want to traverse the area on the ground, you’ll find nice things.

This is probably one of a few places in Brisbane I would recommend to tourists visiting Brisbane. It’s a great place to do all sorts of things, whether that is rock climbing or abseiling off the cliffs, running up those infamous stairs you see a lot of gym junkies run up and down especially on weekends or just having a casual stroll with friends along the footpath while taking in the great scenary of the city in the background.
I personally have done the rock climbing a long time ago and found it was pretty good. The instructors were excellent at explaining everything and are patient as well if someone is struggling with something or need some encouragement. I would definitely recommend it as one of the top things to do in Brisbane if your not afraid of heights or want to get over that fear.
Overall, this is definitely a place you can come here and just relax and take in everything around you.

Good for hanging with friends. It’s not a world class cliff, but its location is mega prime in the city. Just don’t expect kind ethics.

Things I would prefer to do when visiting the Kangaroo Point Cliffs:
1. Lay in a part shade-​part sun grassy knoll overlooking the river on a picnic blanket.
2. Sip one of Brisbane’s best iced coffees from the Cliffs Café
3. Stand at the top of Kangaroo Point Cliffs and look at the beautiful view of the city I call home and think, «You know what? We’re pretty lucky.»
Things I actually did while recently at Kangaroo Point Cliffs and won’t admit I may actually have enjoyed:
1. Run the infamous Kangaroo Point Cliff stairs along with other crazy (sorry, FIT) people on a Sunday morning. I only made it twice before my legs became an ad for aeroplane jelly and said, «heck no you’re not doing that again.» But somehow I find myself craving a visit again this coming Sunday to better my record. INSANITY.
Jokes aside my points are this: Kangaroo Point Cliffs is one of our cities best vantage points to take it all in. To appreciate our beautiful city and see the views from Southbank to past the Story Bridge. To take in some outdoor activities including rock climbing if you’re with a Riverlife group or to cycle your way along the river front. To gather the weekend papers, a picnic blanket and a take away coffee to lay on the grass and read the day away. It is also a pretty nifty spot to enjoy the NYE fireworks and/​or listen to concerts happening at Riverstage.

The Brisbane skyline looks incredible from the vantage point of 20 metres up the Kangaroo Point cliffs, even dangling from a rope. Brisbane climbers are extremely proud of their incredible outdoor climbing spot in the inner city with its fantastic views and great set up. The cliffs have been set up by the council as a dedicated climbing area with concrete pillars and walls at the top to secure ropes to and spotlights down the bottom to light up the cliffs for night climbing (though these are currently under repair after the floods). The kilometre long cliffs have climbs ranging in difficulty from grade 10 (super dooper easy) right up to 26 and over (basically a flat rock wall with some cracks just wide enough for a fingernail to get a grip on). It’s very popular on weeknights and weekends and you need to get in early to get the pick of the good climbs! There’s plenty of parking up the top, with public toilets and bbqs down the bottom along the river.

Ok, so there are already a few reviews on the well renowned Kangaroo Point Cliffs but I am going to give a review from a different point of view.
I am an amateur photographer — I love taking photographs of Brisbane and the Kangaroo Point cliffs provide a wonderful view of the city skyline, by day and by night.
Take along your camera and your tripod and in the right weather are bound to get a spectacular shot. I love photographing the city on clear nights, this is the best time to capture the beauty of the city lights reflecting on the river.

I remember how this place was years ago. The lookout was kind of uninspiring, really. Just a walk path from one end to the next with some under cover areas and a couple of BBQs. Looking at it now it’s a completely different place.
The council has taken away the dullness and added a nice little café and paved aread at one end (closer to the Storey Bridge). It actually looks quite inviting and easily a good place to sit down, relax and enjoy the view.
At the bottom you still have the boardwalk that’s great for exercise or an amble. I enjoy taking photos from down here and you can get a lot of nice shots. I must warn against the toilets, they are pretty filthy. There is a toilet up the top where the café is and depending on whether or not you feel like climbing the stairs, it’s the cleanest toilet in the area.

As an avid rock climber I head here as often as I can, which means whenever a friend who has the appropriate ropes and gear will let me tag along. Kangaroo Point Cliffs, or KP as the local climbing community calls it, is distinguished as one of the only places in the world that you can do some outdoor rock climbing while taking in views of a city-​centre.
The cliffs aren’t a completely a natural phenomenon, rather they were carved out through the quarrying process which used to be undertaken in the area in decades past. Some climber complain that the rocks are a little ‘soapy’ as a result, and not as reliable for lead climbing as more ‘natural’ cliff faces. Even so, there are ample bolts there which facilitate lead climbing, making it a great place to learn the skill.
Another facility which used to be offered was flood lighting of the climbing area, which enabled ascents at all hours of the night. However, the 2011 Brisbane floods rendered the lights inoperable and now you have to wither climb ‘blind’ or take a head lamp with you. I hear they are in the process of fixing the lights but I’m not sure when they will be back on.
There are many different climbing routes all along the several hundred metres of climbable cliff face, and each bear their own chalked acronym, which corresponds to the name given by whoever first conquered the climb. Printed guides to KP’s climbs, including full names, hints and tips, are available at all the climbing and adventure gear shops on Wickham St Fortitude Valley.

Kangaroo Point Cliffs is a perfect date spot. I suggest getting some amazing take-​away from one of the many food places in the area, driving up and setting yourself up on top of the cliffs. Overlooking the Brisbane City and the Brisbane River, this is a stunning view and really makes you appreciate the city you live in. It can get a little windy and cold certain times of the year but that makes snuggling up to someone special all the more rewarding.
But just before things get too romantic, you will notice people climbing the cliffs, others running and exercising along the path, tourists snapping photos and many people having picnics. This really is one of those places in Brisbane that you should go to more often, even if only for a moment to take in the view and remind yourself of how beautiful the city actually is.

There’s nothing better than seeing the city lights while standing at the Kangeroo Point Cliffs. It’s a beautiful sight and should be done so on a regular basis. I’ve spent a number of mornings eating at the local restaurant that sites nearby and it’s been a fantastic place to eat breakfast. I’d highly recommend it.
It can get busy, though, especially during events like New Years Eve, Riverfire and others. If you do plan to go to these events, I recommend getting there early to nab a good seat. There’s also places where you can rock climb the cliffs. I don’t tend to climb cliff-​faces, so I can’t weigh in on that. I’m sure it’s death-​defying fun though.
