I’ve seen so many reviews for Hog’s Breath and was a little bit scared to try the food. Well, behold we ended up here for lunch with extended family. We had reservations, which wasn’t an issue — our table was already prepared and waiting for us. Our servers checked on us often, so service was excellent. Even through I’m considered a semi-vegetarian, I decided to try one of their 18 hour cooked prime steak. Hickory smoked, as I like to have sauce with the meat. Keeping in mind that I usually get easily grossed out by meat texture, I have to saw that the steak(lite cut) I had was tender and went down the hatch quickly. Just in comment to some reviews, yes the meat has extra marbling/fat on it – the menu clearly states it helps with the flavouring and the tenderness. I had my steak with the«Hog’s Tails»(curly fries). Yes it’s greasy and I can taste the oil — thus I had to take down one star for that. But really, the food Hog’s Breath prides themselves on is the beef, so I’m happy with their claim. P. S. Does anyone else ever get confused trying to get out of the bathroom back into the restaurant? Took me awhile to find the exit…

Good for splurging once in a while. The hickory smoked prime rib with curly fries gets me everytime. This hoggies is fairly consistent with all the other ones. Staff are very excitable and always make you feel welcomed. Its expensive for some but i find you never leave with a bad taste in your mouth

Another craving for steak and nothing’s open! Nothing but Hog’s Breath(open until 11.30pm). We got seated and I already knew what I want! ;) Went for the Black Angus medium rare with veggies and fries! And even though I did not expect much from this place, I got more than just disappointed. The steak: fat, fat fat… nearly 25% of my steak was fat. The rest, even though it was medium rare, was incredibly chewy… The fries: you could taste the old oil they were fried in… and oh so soggy! The veggies: okay Staff: our waitress was super friendly, but for 40 dollar for the steak I expect MORE! My friend was happy with his slowly cooked rump steak, otherwise I would probably just give 1 star!

Not being a steak eater, it is pretty amazing that I actually enjoy coming to Hogs Breath for one of their 18-hour slow-cooked steaks. Also amazing is that they manage to do such great steaks for less than a fortune! A smallish steak(called the lite cut), the avocado prime rib being my favourite, will only set you back $ 25 and it is so good. Of course it also comes with Hogs Breath’s famous curly fries and a healthy serve of vegies too. If you just aren’t a steak person, there are loads of other options like burgers(the Boss Hog Double Burger is fantastic), salads, pasta and chicken. Before you have your steak though, you have to have one the fantastic entrees. Their loaded potato skins are the bomb diggity and you can get them on their own or in an enormous finger food combo to share. I usually like to start off with one of their surprisingly good cocktails from the bar as well. The only thing that really lets Hogs Breath down is their lack of any desserts worth the extra calorie intake. They also pride themselves on good service here, though it is a bit odd at first to have your waiter sit down next to you to chat and take your order.

They don’t take bookings here, you just turn up.(Ed: They do take bookings here! I was mistaken) Such is the way of the Hogs Breath Café at Indooroopilly and I suspect the others too. What’s good about this joint besides the décor? My personal favourite(they do them particularly well here) the curly fries. They are so yum! My big complaint with this place is that they specialise in your 18 hour slow cooked steak… now in the 3 times I’ve been here, why have they always been sold out of it? Shouldn’t they keep a loaded supply of what they are actually popular for in the fridge or something? I can’t remember when the last time a Hogs Breath Café actually had some in stock. We were there at 7:30pm too, so it wasn’t like it was the last steak shift of the day. One of the good things about the Indooroopilly Hogs Breath Café, is that it has awesome lunch specials, so if you’re on a budget, come here for lunch on a Monday to Thursday and get a meal for under $ 10 — bit of a bargain, they have curly fries yes they do. My favourite is the Boss Hog BBQ Ribs — they are big and they are yummy. Note — the curly fries are known as the Hog Tail Fries I think.

Anyone living in Australia who loves steak would know about Hog’s Breath. It is a popular steakhouse chain that prides itself on their super tender slow cooked steaks available in a variety of sauces. And let’s not forget their curly fries! Out of the few Hog’s Breath I have been to, the Indooroopily store is one of the better ones. I came here with two friends one afternoon for a late lunch/snack. We were welcomed by a very bubbly waitress who placed us at a table very quickly. I was not in the mood for a steak so when I saw that they had a $ 9.90 lunch special option I opted for that. I ordered a ‘Chicken Ceasar Wrap’ which was accompanied with curly fries. Pretty good value for less than $ 10 if you ask me. The serving portion was very generous with the amount of chicken, bacon and lettuce it offered. Since my friends were not after a meal, the waitress suggested they share the ‘Banoffee pie’ which was their dessert special for the day. Oh my goodness, this was delicious(I managed to steal a few bites)! We left the place with smiles on our faces and nothing to complain about. The service was great and the food was good. Everyone knows that Hog’s Breath make good steak. What my last experience revealed is that steak is not the only thing they are good at.
