Love SOTO in Hornsby. We have been here a few times now and the food has always been great. My fav is the beef teriyaki — grab a table outside if you can.

A great little spot in Hornsby, cool bento boxes — good quality + tasty Japanese food. The staff are friendly and it is frequently busy when I go but they have always managed to squeeze me in.

We had dinner in this place. We are happy with food. We order salmon teriyaki bento box and chicken karage bento box. The portion is big. It is worth it for 25 dollar. Definetly will go there again to try other foods!

We were here on a Tuesday night — they let you eat from the lunch menu on Mon/Tues !! Slow, I suppose. Pretty empty but can’t complain about the food. Loved my scallop nirigi, salmon salad, and gyoza. We even BYO’d and stayed the entire night. This is a gem in Hornsby, do not miss this. FYI — name change! It’s now called SOTO.

Ever since my son started learning Japanese at school, he has fallen in love with Japanese food(which is absolutely fine with me) so Mori has gone onto high rotation in our«what shall we have for dinner’ playlist. There are a few Japanese/Korean places in Hornsby but by all accounts Mori is the most authentically Japanese. The food is good. Really good. And unlike a lot of Japanese places the portions aren’t tiny. You can get a good meal here at a reasonable price. The place itself is pretty tiny and always crowded. Seriously, the place is small. Don’t go with a large group, you will not fit. Tiny as it is, Its usually better to try for a table rather than go for take away. Although they do take away, a lot of japanese food doesn’t take kindly to sitting in a plastic container. It really should be eaten absolutely fresh. Some of the dishes are more durable and will stand up to the trip home so if you chose wisely, you can still get a good dinner even if the eat in is packed.

Updated Feb 2016: Mori closed down some time in early 2015, and another restaurant has taken its place. Someone updated the listing to reflect the change of name, rather than show it as closed. My review is for the former business, not the one currently at that address. Mori does, as the name says, Japanese and Korean food. Really, really well. It’s not the cheapest you’ll find, but the owners are Japanese and the food is fantastic. Dine in is the best way to go from the perspective of the food, but as previous reviewers have mentioned, the restaurant is tiny and thus not good for groups or small children. Having said that, as long as you pick your dishes well, the food is great for takeaway, and the service is quick, so we brought it home to eat instead. We ate the food before we could photograph it, so no flashy pics. Either way, worth it!

Nestled just around the corner from the Pacific Highway in quiet little Coronation Street, this tiny restaurant is a place you only go to for the food. Now that might prompt the question from some, what else do you go to a restaurant for? To you I say, please read my review on Infuzions Hornsby. Allow me to explain my Mori experiences, of which I have lost count. So there’s the first good bit of news, ok? * Décor and presentation — Clean. Adequate. Serviceable. Small. I can’t make it any plainer. Neither can the Mori. * Staff and service — Friendly, personable and full of smiles. Really nice people here who enjoy your enjoyment. They’re always busy,(another good sign) so waiting a bit longer than normal is inevitable but worth it. The staff are attentive and uncomplaining. * Food — Very good. Fresh ingredients, prepared well and the presentation is good. My wife loves sashimi and knows what’s good and what’s not. She loves the Mori’s food. I never eat anything raw except fruit, being a zealous believer in the benefits of food over roaring flame, so I can’t elaborate any further on that. But the meals I’ve had always met my approval both for freshness and flavour. I really like their dishes and the choices they offer. Now, to qualify my earlier statement about it being a restaurant you only visit for the food. The reason I say this is because it is a very small place. It’s not ideal for large groups or small children, there just isn’t the room or space to allow the noise to dissipate adequately. You’re often almost elbow-to-elbow with fellow diners and that makes an intimate dinner a little like a voyeuristic experience of the gastronomic kind. It’s like a kitchen dining experience so you have all the noise from the cooking as well as the other guests around you. Nonetheless, I love the Mori because of it’s positives and hope they can do well enough to perhaps open another, larger version somewhere not too far away. Yeah, I know, it’s all about me…

My cousin recommended this place as a good local Japanese place she frequents so I decided to give it a try. FOOD We ordered a prawn tempura sushi, beef ramen and teriyaki chicken. The sushi wasn’t the best I’ve had. The ramen was good but the broth wasn’t as strong tasting as other ramen places. Teriyaki chicken was good but nothing special. The mains were only $ 10 as they have a $ 10 lunch special. The portion sizes were huge so we were super stuffed. I regret ordering the sushi because it was just too much food. OVERALL Pretty good value for money if you get the lunch special. They also make fresh takeaway sushi boxes for $ 4-$ 5 which is a pretty good deal considering one sushi roll alone can cost between $ 3-$ 4 at the food court. The place seems like a pretty popular lunch spot.
