Drifters Internet Cafe

This place makes me so sad now. It used to be my favourite Salamanca café, a little underground secret often ignored for Salamanca’s other cooler (pricier, overcrowded) cafes. The wifi was strong, the coffee was excellent and the eggs benny were the best I had in Hobart. The walls bore testament to the owner’s charmingly childlike fixation on Errol Flynn. Drifters was open on a Sunday when little else was, and was always welcoming.
Then it changed hands. Now the owner is brusque, the coffee tastes sour, and my beloved eggs benny has gone to seed — soggy bread, tiny overdone eggs, and a ‘salad’ comprised of maybe three sad lettuce leaves. The wifi, once readily available with a simple request at the counter, now has complex and ever-​changing passwords attached so you spend half your time there messing around trying to connect.
A bad café is a bad café. A bad café that used to be a great café is a tragedy.

I found this place confusing. I read the sign out the front, and saw they have eggs benny. I went inside, and sort of accidentally stumbled upon the café.
My eggs benny was confused as well. The muffins were under-​toasted and soggy. One egg was perfectly cooked, the other was incredibly overcooked. Not sure how that happened. My brekky was served on a large plate, and it made the portion seem tiny.
The coffee was great. The server was friendly.
