A perfect place for a laid back brewski after work or a great way to start the weekend. My friend and I enjoyed the beautiful views of Henley Beach sitting out in their alfresco area sipping on a couple of Vino’s. We got a large bowl of chips which absolutely filled us and were able to enjoy them as we breathed in the sea air. The staff are lovely and accommodating and the prices are pretty reasonable. The décor is bali chic which i loved as it added to the laid back atmosphere.

Quite surprised as I hadn’t eaten here before, only had a drink many times! Despite the surf club being in front you have a diagonal view of the ocean and it’s right on the edge of the beach. The outside area is nice with umbrellas, inside is a bit key largo! A great oyster selection House made dips were great Fresh prawns Ok wines and champagne by the glass Great service They have the junky bar finger food too.

Bacchus really is a mouthful of cliches; ‘Great Atmosphere’; ‘delicious, well priced food’; ‘awesome views over the beach’; ‘great selection of beers and wines’; ‘friendly staff’ etc etc. But it really is all of the above. An eclectic mix of patrons and music combine to make Bacchus a ‘must visit and stay a while’ venue. I first visited(frequently) 10 years ago when I lived on the Esplanade at Henley Beach. I was there again last week after a 3 year absence and was pleased to see that little had changed — sadly including the crappy outdoor furniture, each table of which has an interesting wobble. But apart from that — Bacchus is a must. A well worn cliché in itself.

As has been mentioned a few times, location is key. Having said that though, it can get freezing sitting outside as the wind really whistles through there. I’ve been caught out many times! The service has never been 5 star and sometimes it takes a while to be served. Staff always seem friendly though and I try to relax into the beach vibe instead of worrying that things aren’t perfect. I like the atmosphere and it varies delaying on day and time of day. Sunday evenings is always busy and there is live music, plus an enthusiastic dancing crowd. Quite an older crowd the later it gets on Sundays. I have had a few meetings here in the day and it’s a great spot to chill out and pretend to work ;-) I agree with Chloe about the food being a bit overly deep fried. I have had some tasty food here, and it does always look fresh and nicely presented, but some lighter options would be welcome. The cocktails look amazing, but somehow I just about always order sparkling wine! I’d recommend keeping an eye on their Facebook page as they put up great photos and details of their specials and new offerings. They put up some enviable sunset photos too. All in all, a fun place in a brilliant location!

Cracking little bar overlooking the ocean. I was here for a cheeky little cider on a Sunday afternoon. Very chilled with a little live music. just had dips and pita so can’t comment on the rest of the menu but it looked pretty wholesome and fresh. Staff were super happy and friendly — that’s always good!

As others have said, the true selling point here is the fantastic location! With a good selection of wines and some tasty cocktails, Bacchus is a prime choice in the Henley Beach area for a drink — and perfect on a warm Summers eve. If you want to sit out front, be sure to book a table and do so early in the week /day. Otherwise it’s a bit of a gamble… The staff here are super nice and friendly and are really the selling point that bring this quaint little beach side bar up from a three to a four.

Location, location, location! This place has it all when it comes to romantic sunset views, an outdoor patio and umbrella covered area and a space for live music on Friday and Saturday nights. There are few and far between choices when it comes to grabbing a good, well priced drink outdoors in Henley Beach on a weekend in summer. And I know you’re thinking — «What? There’s tonnes of places down at Henley to grab a drink!» Yes but I could list them off for you and that would be enough said… Bacchus is one of the better locations because of their good wine menu and well made cocktail and drinks list. They would get 5 stars in my books for location and the fact you can drink on the foreshore alone. Unfortunately though they have an incredibly ordinary food and tapas menu and no matter how many times I give that place a try I am always disappointed by their unoriginal, over fried, pre-packaged food. It’s weird, because their menu and photos of food from Facebook always look so enticing, so maybe I’m just ordering wrong? That said, I won’t say no to a nice vino on the deck as the sun sets in winter or summer, enjoying the 25+ eye candy and imagining I own my own apartment on the beach in Adelaide!

If you want a great place near the beach that sells delicious tapas, this is where you’ll have to go. The dolmades and arancini balls are amazing, and so are their oysters and calamari. They have quite a large menu for a rather small bar and apart from the huge variety of tapas, they make pizza, salads and breakfast. I highly recommend trying the tapas though. Since it’s a wine bar, of course they also have a good selection of wine on their menu. Prices are probably along the moderate to expensive lines but you have to take into account the location. If you sit outside or on their veranda, you can hear and smell the waves. You can’t get any closer to the water unless you go swimming. Plus, it’s not as busy and overly touristy as Glenelg, so if you prefer somewhere quiet, this is definitely the place to go. Love it!

Bacchus Wine Bar is badass. That’s all there is to it. I’d give it 5 stars but it’s a small place which often makes it hard to secure a table, or even finding a decent place to stand. Otherwise it would definitely give the 5 stars. The food is delicious(well, what I’ve tried). Especially the pizza! Don’t knock it till you try it. The atmosphere is beautiful, and not to mention the stellar view overlooking the ocean during the summer. I usually go to Bacchus Wine Bar on a Friday night, which is by far my favourite night of them all! It’s such a relaxing place to come to at the end of the working week and enjoy a nice glass of wine. Every Friday night there is a live musician/band playing which really sets the mood. It varies from jazz, blues, roots, indie/folk, instrumental, they have it all! The staff are very friendly and talkative to all customers. The longer you stick around you’ll start to notice that they start dancing around to the music and joining in the Bacchus Bar fun! A decent place well worth checking out.

I don’t know what Bacchus does differently, but their vodka cranberry is amazing. They probably just use real cranberry juice, giving it that extra hit of flavour. The place is pretty small, and it’s basically only outdoor seating, so don’t expect to rock up and be able to grab a table straight away, especially in summer. It does take bookings however — we came here for a staff party once. It is right next to Cibo Espresso and overlooks the ocean. Perfect. There is also live music, although each time I’ve been here there has only been blues or rock. I think a bit of acid jazz/funk would be nice, and would suit the ambience that the crowd brings. It gets a bit squishy, but it’s a really cool place.

Cider on the seafront, yes please! Bacchus also has a small but pleasant craft brewed beer selection which I would happily navigate my way around on a pleasant day. This is my pick for a casual sunday arvo drink over the larger hotels in the area. I was fairly non-plussed by the wine selection but I am sure I could find something palettable to quaff. In good weather it can be challenging to find a table, so be warned! They do food as well which looks tasty enough. Maybe don’t sit on the veranda’s hand rail, I had a slightly tired and emotional boyfriend fall off it one evening.
