I don’t want to be rude because the place was cute and the food decent. Generous portions of steamed rice per person. A very good curry sauce with the duck. Nice cashew nut stir fry with prawns and spicy Larb Pork. The issue is among entering, we asked if they served alcohol. They said Beer and Wine only. Turns out, of the 6 options of wine on the menu, they only had one bottle in stock. One bottle? I wonder how old that was. :) Then I ordered the spicy Larb Chicken. Then they told me there was no chicken. How do you not have chicken? Lastly, some of the plates were dirty and we were given random assortments of utensils. I had 2 spoons and a fork. Someone else had 2 forks and a spoon. Another had one of each. Come on! With all the wonderful Thai in the area, Sukjai needs to step up the game a bit.

This is not a bad Thai place. We came here on Groupon that included a soft or alcohol drink, main and dessert. we both had pad thais and these were not bad. but the drinks created a bit of issue. my friend doesn’t drink alcohol or fizzy soft drinks, so we asked if it can be replaced with juice or tea instead and none of the staff or manager were flexible enough to substitute the offer with something as simple as a drink. that left us feel awkward and not exactly appreciated. probably will not be coming back

This Thai restaurant pretty average. We only came here because we had Cudo vouchers. I ordered the Pad Thai and although I squeezed the whole lemon it was still sweet. It does have a comforting environment but not enough for me to come back. There are better Thai restaurants around.

Not sure why the reviews here are so low, we came here with a big group and had a great time. Orders were quickly taken(food and drinks) and our BYO wine was facilitated without a hitch. A variety of dishes were devoured by the seven of us(a green curry, several spicy pork belly dishes, a pad thai, a spicy steak dish, and a massaman curry). All of them were great. Prices seemed pretty reasonable, the food was quickly at hand, and our water glasses never ran empty. The only reason I’m not giving a full five stars is because the table was kinda sticky and probably need a wipe down, but otherwise the place seemed super clean. Weird that they missed the table, but sometimes that’s life. Come here — you’ll like it.

Thai restaurants are a dime a dozen in Thainatown, so how does one with cool murals, cheerful staff, and shiny menus stack up? Not very well… The music playing in the background was going through an identity crisis; they were playing Mandarin language music and Korean music… I thought this was a Thai restaurant? I ordered the Masman Beef Curry, and my friend ordered the Tom Yung soup. With rice the curry was $ 17.00. At that price I’d expect an awesome curry, but alas that was not to be. The beef was overcooked and dry, and the curry was a little too runny. The Tom Yung soup was very sour as well… too sour. 4⁄10 would not come again, several better places in Thainatown.

foods and services are average and it could be better, price can be extra in some days up and down depends on who works as supervisor on that day and any extra added wil be extra charge depends what requests… getiing worse as they charged for takeaway containers any sizes and lids… down down down… Where is the hell on eart? WHY? When I was waiting for my food and my eyes have to be look down to the floor and saw a Micky mouse ran out from the kitchen at the back to the front and slip one self into underneath the cashier counter at the front of the restaurant where they prepared drinks hot deserts and cold deserts… Oh My table was at the front of the reataurant next to the cashier. I felt sick and nearly throwing up… PLEASEGUYSDON’ T EAT, TRYNORGOBACKTHERE…

Great lunch! I’m going to go right ahead and put this in the«cheap ‘n’ cheerful» category. The food was yum without being omfg-amazing, the service was lovely, and it was cheap. It’s quite a nice space too. What’s not to like?

I have the unfortunate experience of getting an upset stomach after dining here. Needless to say I won’t be coming back…

When you think of Thai food, you’ll automatically think of the street food that line the streets accompanied by the plastic stools you sit on while you chow down on your bowl or plate of whatever you’re eating. As common as it is to eat the street food, there’s also the plethora of quirky little Thai restaurants and when you transport one to Sydney, its name is Sukjai. It’s actually not so little and while you’re waiting for the food, it’s easy to admire the part-rustic space with contemporary Thai art hanging on the walls. If it’s a cold day(and yes, there are cold days in Sydney, at least by my standards. haha), I tend to gravitate towards the sour soup known as Tom Saap. There’s nothing like gnawing on those soft pork spare ribs that fall apart in your mouth. The saikrok(Thai Isaan sausages) are also worth getting and combining it with something like a Som Tum(papaya salad). I haven’t tried their dessert yet though the patong-go(fried oil sticks, trust me, it tastes better than it sounds) with the pandan custard looks delish. When dinner is done, I usually just roll myself over next door to the dessert cart and pass out in the Tuk-Tuk from a food coma(I kid). And they also have weekday lunch specials which gets an extra 2 points!
