Tasca Viva means a lively bar in Spanish! I have passed through it many a times while going to the Glenelg beach jetty. It was always full and lively with the guests, staff and music! I will recommend to make a reservation for the outdoor seating or the front seating because when it gets busy you might have to wait which is not a good option when you are hungry. We did not had a reservation but because we were very early so we got a table for two at the back. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. They asked us if it was our first time, for which we said yes and they explained how the menu works. There was a banquet for 2 course and 3 course meal, then some tapas options, some starters, mains which are shared(loved this one) and then if you are confused and do not know what to eat, leave it on the experienced Chefs, they will feed you till you are full! The drink menu was amazing, the waiting staff helps you with the drinks choice with the kind of food you ordered. For our dinner, we ordered for starters Salsas(trio of house made Spanish dips with pita bread) and Calamares Fritos(paprika, salt and pepper squid). For mains we ordered a Paella Mixta(seafood paella with chicken, chorizo and olives)(it serves 2). For the drinks we had Corona beer and Mojito(one of the best I had in a long time). To enhance the table space they have small racks for the food. The bread and dips were delish. The dips were olives, paprika and eggplant. The calamari was the softest and melt in mouth! Loved both the starters. It is mentioned in the menu that if you order paella you have to wait for 45 mins because they make it fresh! So enjoy your starters and drinks slowly before noming on the paella! When the paella arrived it was so aromatic that the people on the next table talked to us and clicked a photo of our paella because they did not order paella because of time constraint. It was a good portion size for 2 people and has bimba rice, mussels, prawns, calamari, chorizo and chicken pieces. Garnished with lemon wedges. It was served in a paella pan! Just like cook and serve! It was very flavourful and paprika was definitely there as one can feel a tinglong sensation on the tongue. The rice was cooked perfectly and the seafood was perfectly cooked! A balance of flavours and textures. The food which appeals to eyes and tastebuds. We did not had any space for desserts! The bill came around $ 110 for two people including drinks. I will definitely rate Tasca Viva for food and service a 5 star! Will go back again and recommend to everyone who loves Spanish food!

Come down to Glenelg and wanted to try something different. Saw tasca viva and looked at the menu and thought we would give it a go. Got a seat by the open window and order our drinks and food. We got a mojito and an espresso martini, a bit pricy at $ 16 but very nice. We got a platter to share, I can’t remember the name but it was the meat platter, it had chicken wings, meat balls, Angus beef, lamb skewer, chorizo and potatoes. It was amazing. My boyfriend and I devoured it. Definitely recommend coming for the food and the view :)

I was disappointed instantly after being sat at a dirty table from previous diners, we expected the table to be cleaned after we sat down but 15 min later we were still waiting for service. We then got our own menus in thinking that perhaps we had to order ourselves, the waiter assisted with pointing where they were located. Patiently we waited another 10minutes for service then left.

Amazing food, and great service from Dan our waiter on the day. It’s nice to have options between tapas and share plates. Honestly there was no choice from our selection that was not delish, the croquettes was our fav. We nearly went the set banquet(for larger groups or small groups also) but were happy with our choice of tapas and small plates. Will definitely return!

I wanted to like Tasca Viva but left quite disappointed. For the following reads: 1. The white wine sangria was not chilled and was served in warm glasses. Also, it didn’t serve much of a punch. I wonder how much booze they actually put in it. That said, it tasted pleasant. 2. The Plato De Carne, one of the more expensive share plates, was sparse and full of poor quality ingredients. The chorizo didn’t taste of much at all. The beef – our plate contained what looked to be about half of a steak – was gristly. The pork too, gristly. The potatoes and sautéed onion and capsicum were delicious. As was the salsa. The aioli completely bland and not worthy of dunking my spuds. 3. The Ensalada De Beetroot was all rocket and balsamic, with a only few pedestrian pieces of beetroot and a light crumbling of goats cheese. It really should be renamed«Ensalada De Rocksamic».(There is already a rocket salad on the menu that contains manchego, pear, fennel and lemon dressing – I wonder how heavy they go on the rocket with that one.) 4. Service was friendly enough and efficient but not tip-worthy.

Tasca Viva Restaurant is a Spanish, Tapas based restaurant. Tapas are so hard to get right. Quite a few of my friends call them small overpriced meals, awkward to share when eating and awkward sharing when the bill comes out. The things I do love about sharing food however, is that it stimulates table conversation even if it is just about the meal, and for the food jealousy diner it eradicates the problem! So in order to have a good tapas meal I find that I like to have abundantly flavored food and options to taste and feel full without breaking the budget, unfortunately at Tasca Viva Restaurant I have always spent more money than I wanted to and left feeling strangely not quite satisfied(Copenhagen Ice-Creamery is normally a stopover). I really want to like this place purely for the location and I have found myself here more than I have wanted too just because it is on Jetty Road. The service has been unfortunately terrible at times, I am assuming the manager or owner has decided to hire the cheaper hospitality worker, in the form of young female backpackers, which I have done in the past when working in hospitality but it doesn’t work. However, I have been here with men(such as my brother and boyfriend) I have found the service has changed dramatically! The alcohol options are quite good, the mojito I had was lovely, the Moritz Spanish beer is perfect to match with the tapas and is always a favorite for the beer lovers of my friends. *relishthegoodthymes

Well, I was blown away by Tasca Viva! I took my girl here for her birthday since she loves tapas … and although there are a few tapas restaurants in Adelaide, I wanted to try one closer to home. We were a bit concerned by its proximity to the Jetty Bar at first, but once inside we didn’t notice the drunk noises — in fact, it was reduced to a hum by the time we were seated. Speaking of inside, the décor is gorgeous! The waiters were very friendly, and our mojito was possibly the best we’d tasted. We ordered a share plate of Jamon croquettes(my favourite!), Piquillo peppers(my partner’s favourite), garlic toast, olives, tortilla and a selection of sauces. Ohhh, what a gorgeous selection! We also had the lamb skewers(Pinchitos) and Patatas Bravas(potatoes with tomato and paprika sauce). Absolutely stunning, everything was delicious. For dessert, we just had to try the Chocolate Tapas plate for 2 — oh wow. Churros, mousse, ice cream, brownies. What more can I say? It *was* pretty filling though, so I think I’ll just order the churros next time ;) Speaking of churros — best ones I’ve had(and we’ve tried a few around Adelaide!). Prices were very reasonable — the meal came in way under my budget! We will definitely come here again — I think I may have to try the pork belly next time ;)

After a late breakfast and skipping lunch, felt like an early munchie after working in the garden most of the day. Where to go? We haven’t been to the Bay for ages so why not. Finally find a car park and walk past all that Glenelg has to offer. We stumble on Tasca Viva tapas bar so decide to try it. After all we loved Movida in Melbourne and that’ s tapas too. There the similarity ends. They are trying. We started with a garlic crostini with capsicum and onion topping, tasty, a good start. Then, calamari advertised as salt and pepper and paprika squid. Although it was incredibly tender, no serious flavour detected, in fact we asked for pepper. It was also too oily by far and served with a bland yellowish mayo(?). Also tried green beans with caramelised onion and chorizo, and pork and veal meatballs stuffed with manchego. The beans were delicious, crunchy just cooked, the chorizo not amazing. The meatballs were lovely, moist and flavoursome. Pick of the meal. We washed it all down with a carafe of Sangria, again OK but misses the mark. A tip, ask Frank Camorra of Movida for his recipe — wait, it’s in his cookbook! Great location, pleasant enough staff, reasonable selection of dishes, just not wow in my opinion. Pass the Mylanta please?

Tapas at Glenelg — about time! Friendly staff and good food. a little more attention to service would help. Some of the hot dishes were cold by the time they got to us. Overall though, I’ll go back again.

I was so excited when I saw this Tapas Bar getting fitted out. The décor is a lively mixture of oranges and blues with Spanish inspired wallpaper and mood lighting. My first experience was a coffee with a friend late morning. We sat in the cute little window seats which I love and were able to watch the passing parade. The service was great and the waiter very attentive. Unfortunately, the coffee was very average, the type you might expect in a rural town, very weak and unappealing. I am not one to normally complain but when he asked how the coffee was I told him I was very disappointed. He said that no one else had complained and I enlightened him by telling him no one in Adelaide complains much, they just don’t go back. However, I really liked the venue so I wanted them to get it right. I went back again for lunch with a girlfriend and had a lovely rocket salad but was disappointed with the Seafood salad which was very small and very vinegary. I will give it another go at some stage but probably just for drinks. I am waiting for it to take off as I am sure it will, it just hasn’t happened yet.

Tasca Viva is an authentic tapas restaurant down the bay. Their Head chef, Leslie Dean has lived in Spain for a number of years, speaks Spanish and is incredibly knowledgeable about Spanish cuisine and culture. There is a stellar menu with everything ranging from the most simple homely dishes like Patatas Bravas(roasted potato chips with a spicy tomato salsa) and Flamenqin(deep fried ham and cheese wrapped in bread crumbs) to more modern experimental tapas, such as the Pulpo Gallego(Gallician Octopus) braised with squid ink and The Wagyu Beef with Blue cheese sauce. Also worth recommending is the oxtail, a number of the seafood dishes(especially the prawns), and also, surprisingly, the deserts. Dishes, other than bar tapas, come in two sizes, tapas(slightly smaller than an entrée) and raciones(slightly larger than an entrée). The prices here match the quality of the food, and consequentially things can get expensive, especially if you get cocktails involved. All in all a very welcoming place, fantastic staff, alfresco dining amidst the buzz of Jetty Road.

Literally meaning ‘Lively Bar’ in Espanol. Tasca Viva possesses a fun, welcoming and funky atmosphere with a high quality of Spanish cuisine to eat. In the prime location right on Jetty Road and paired with a captivating Spanish inspired décor. You’ll be instantly transported to a colourful and vibrant fiesta with friend sampling the fine tapas menu. I had the succulently grilled Wagyu rump with imported Spanish blue cheese. I was so taken with the dish I didn’t sample much of the other tapas we had. They have extensive list of wines and cocktails. Try the King Carlos for Spain in a glass. Unique flavours of watermelon mixed with chilli and a dash of a rare spirit only found in Brazil called Sagatiba. Next time you’re looking for some fresh tapas down by the bay. Check out Viva.
