I ate at this place twice during my visit to Sydney. Great pad see ew for the price($ 8 lunch special!) I do wish that there were more veggies and that it was more flavorful, but all in all, a really good deal

Excellent Thai food in Glebe. It looks crowded, but they seem to be able to fit you in. Very friendly staff and we could watch our food being made. Very reasonable.

Cheap, fast and tasty. I’m sure there are better Thai places in Sydney but probably not in this price category. It is always busy and get takeaway of having a queue of people through the restaurant bothers you.

There’s always a crowd for a good reason… This place is amazing, some of the best(if not the best) Thai I’ve had in ages. Thank my lucky stars because I work a block down so I get to take advantage of the $ 8 lunch special. Only 4 stars sadly because they seem to have changed their curry in the past two months– it used to be so creamy and delicious but now it’s watery(still flavorful and good if you prefer a soupier consistency). Very nice service as well!

We were in the area so picked this place off the back of good reviews. The place is fine, food average at best, service no problems. It is also cheap, about $ 10 lunch. Overall I was disappointed, life is too short to eat average food. I guess I can’t complain too much for $ 10 but I’d rather pay a bit more and eat something better.

Arguably the best Thai restaurant in Glebe and the inner west. Super friendly staff and amazingly good Thai food. Right in the center of Glebe with seating inside and out. Whether for large groups or dinner for two you can easily fit but you might need to wait for a take because it can get really busy. Lunch special at $ 8 is great value. While most likely not traditional Thai, I highly recommend the chicken hokkien noodles with satay sauce.

This is the place you need to get lunch at if you’re in Glebe. Authentic recipes. Clean, friendly staff, tons of seating, fast and delicious. You can watch the kitchen make your food and they are super tidy. The lunch special is $ 8 and includes rice. No bookings, no cards.

So tasty and nice people. Friendly and pretty. Pad Thai is so good for the cheap price. 7.50 is good.

This place is a great little spot for a Thai food fix. It’s fast service, very attentive and friendly staff are also winners. They have a daily lunch special of $ 7.50 for all meals(rice included with some dishes), $ 10 if it’s seafood, the servings are massive so you definitely get value for money. Fresh produce is used in all dishes, no frozen goods here, and the veggies are cooked medium so they still have that good crunch and munch quality in them. All meat used are also fresh, no artificial meat extenders used. Recommendations: Pad Thai, Pad si eew, Thai Fried Rice, Panang Curry, Prawn in a Blanket & Crispy chicken wings. The best part: Sticky rice in coconut cream with sliced mango

This friendly local Thai restaurant has many fans in the neighborhood, probably for many of the reasons I am not. My issues with Tom Yum is two fold: I like my Thai super spicy and I like it varied. Maybe it’s my fault; at other Thai restaurants I do usually have to warn them that I like spice and«can you please make it for me like you would a Thai person.» Basically, you have to plead with some people to let them know that just because you are white doesn’t mean you can’t handle heat. Still, the food here is super bland. I wish they served food that was at least ½ as spicy as the food you get in Thailand. Second, every dish kind of tastes the same. I’ve ordered the cashew nut, the ginger, the basil, everything. I swear it’s the same sauce with slightly different vegetable mixes and different meats. Last but not least, my eggplant was overcooked. And it wasn’t even Thai eggplant. Sure this place is always tempting because its CHEAP and super close to my house but I try and avoid it nonetheless.

No one can beat these guys when it comes to value for money. Very solid all round menu, nothing will knock you off your feet but for you will eat the best Thai $ 10 can buy.

One benefit of hanging out with postgrad students(other than learning impressive words to drop casually into conversations) is their encyclopedic knowledge of cheap eats in any given city. And I was definitely impressed with this place! We shared: — Massaman curry — excellent slow cooked beef in a delicious sauce — Thai beef salad — nice though very spicy — Chicken fried rice — as expected but perfectly fine — Pad see ew with chicken — lovely, and the noodles had that perfectly wok-charred edge. Lovely service too. I would definitely return!

Go for the lunch special 11 – 5 pm everything is $ 7.50, mostly. Like most places I want more food on my plate but the Crying Tiger BBQ was tangy delicious.

I will give it to Tom Yum Tum Gang– it’s got a cool vibe, and a cheap lunch special. But I cannot for the life of me figure out why this place is so packed every second of every day, since the food ain’t that great. On my first trip, I got a tofu, egg and pumpkin dish which came out in literally thirty seconds. Slimy, gross and totally inedible. The only reason I didn’t complain was because I was only paying $ 7.50 and the staff was so sweet and friendly that I didn’t want to hurt their feelings. Thinking I MUST be missing something since it’s always so busy, I returned with BF in tow and ordered a standard pad thai. Worst pad thai, hands down, that I’ve ever had. No colour, no flavor whatsoever, barely any peanuts. The taro-wrapped prawn we ordered as an entrée was also a disaster. BF’s penang curry was pretty good, though. No excuse for bad Thai in this town. Walk up the road to Deli’s instead. Their lunch is only $ 7!

Love this place! it’s the go to Glebe spot for dinner and lunch for me and the better half. As everyone has already covered, the $ 7.50 lunch special is a steal, and if you get a dish with rice or noodles, you’ll be full of stomach and still full of pocket which is rare out here in sweet Sydney… I can’t remember the damn name, but my favorite dish is the last one on the noodle section on the back of the menu, Thai Style, it’s stupid good and just the right size to fill you up but not make you sick. If a noodle dish isn’t what you’re after, I’d go with the massaman curry, it’s good here too. It’s always busy, but don’t worry, they’ll get you in quickly, and your food will be quick, so don’t let the crowd scare you off, it’s there for a reason.

Great cheap little Thai spot in Glebe. Had an awesome Tom Yum Goong– prawns were super fresh and it was extremely tasty. Staff were friendly, gave me water and service was fast. Wouldn’t mind giving other dishes a go if I was in the area.

Cheap, but dear, you haven’t impressed me. 5 stars ‘LONG’ reviews from active Unilocalers did perhaps get me little too excited about this place and unfortunately, besides the sweet $ 7.50 price deal(lunch time only), taste wise, I would say this place failed to meet my expectations. For that price, sure, I might stop by again to give it a second go when I am around, but honestly, I have tasted far better Thai before and I rather stick with them :-/

On my way to see some comedy at the Roxbury Hotel, I decided that I needed some Thai. It’s a recurring need that eats at you until you succumb to the fiery devil that is addiction. I staggered through the streets of Glebe in search of my Pad See Ew, desperate for that spicy meal, those chunks of chicken, the vegetables, every ingredient beckoned me and I would have my Thai tonight! I walked past plenty of restaurants, I didn’t like the vibe of some, some were suspect. Then I came across Tom Yum Tum Gang, a Thai restaurant full of people, happy satisfied people, laughing and eating, eating and laughing, talking and eating and laughing and smiling. This was the place for me! I whipped inside and made my order, took a seat on the comfortable waiting chairs and sipped upon some water that I had in my bag. The food came and I ate it with some more water, this time, the water supplied by the restaurant. It was a tasty treat, just like I imagined and relatively cheap as well. The ambience is good and the open plan kitchen makes for interesting viewing as I sit and eat my ‘lonely man meal’. The plate is clean and I head toward the show. I will be back Tom Yum Tum Gang. I will be back to your unusually normal named Thai place. Thai and stop me.

Thank God this place is several steps from my house. Of the thousands(that may NOT be an exaggeration) of Thai restaurants in the city, this is the only one I need. Either for takeout or dining-in, Tom Yum Tum Gang is an authentic Thai eatery, cheap(as I believe Thai cuisine should be) and quick. It is seldom empty during lunch and dinnertime but you can usually find a seat rather quickly. I appreciate this restaurant for its cleanliness, no-frills service, and yumminess. Craving your usual Pad Thai? Ignore that craving because there’s so much more to taste. Their menu is extensive, but not overwhelming, and for the price, you should order many dishes and just take home the leftovers. Last time I went, I got the Pad See Ew with beef. It was so good, I ordered a second just to take home and keep in the freezer. I also got the larb, which I originally tried because of the funny name(me being immature), and subsequently developed an addiction to. I’m a big fan of ground meat. The super casual atmosphere, convenience, and quality food keep me coming back.
