Visited with friends this trendy inner city hotel on afternoon of Sunday 21st June 2015 to watch AFL match. The young waitresses went out of their way to beam the game onto the big screen for us. We had the best lounge seats and settled in to watch The Demons destroy The Cats for the first time in 9 years. Of course while doing this we drank big glasses of Shiraz and Chardonay wine at $ 6.50 each and fat schooners of beer at $ 5. When half time was on we went upstairs to watch the free Jazz Concert. Bloody terrific band. How good is this !!! When the game was over I celibrated by shouting my friends dinner. The menu covers all tastes including vegetarians and burger lovers. But we had scotch fillet steaks and salad $ 20.50, Prawn Gyoza $ 12.50, Nepalese curry chicken pie $ 17. The food was restaurant standard yet cheaper. The Harold Park Hotel is also known for its comedy nights featuring leading Ozzie comics. We all had a great time and will return.

Great bar and I love the Jazz upstairs on a Sunday afternoon. Food is great too … Friends had the steak today and loved it … I’ve had the calamari and it was great. Good veggie nachos too! But really … We come for the Jazz!!!

Harold Park Hotel God Bless our Local! What’s not to love about this hotel that’s neither a park nor hotel. Bartenders who know are names and know what we eat and drink? At just a stones throw from our balcony(trust me i’ve tried) they have a happy hour running from 3−6pm. Cheap drinks! Each day of the week you’ll find a special. Monday — Buy One Get One Meals Tuesday — Buy One Get One Meals and comedy night Wednesday — it’s $ 10 pasta and trivia night Thursday — Politics in the Pub upstairs Friday — flip the boss… Call the coin correctly and you might win a free drink during happy hour Sunday — Buy One Get One Roasts They also have an outdoor/indoor room!

Before I start I want it to be clear that I am reviewing only the dish I ordered at this venue! Said dish being a vegetarian version of their tasting plate, which judging from the menu I gathered would be basically a cheese/mezze mash-up. When it eventually arrived I actually laughed– there were literally 3 crackers and tsatziki dip(with bread & crackers!!!), a teeny tiny wedge of that dodgy $ 3 a wheel brie(Aussie Gold?) you buy at Woolies(to be fair, it WAS about 3 crackers worth), and a RIDICULOUS amount of sun– and semi –dried tomatoes, all lovingly presented on a bed of dry lettuce mix. My twelve dollars and i were both amused.

The Harold Park Hotel in Glebe is situated just across the road from Harold Park Paceway, hence the name. The hotel has a classy feel to it, it’s cleanm modern and a nice open space. The kitchen serves delicious food with an Australian dining menu and the beer and wine is appropriately priced. The highlight of this hotel, for myself anyway, is the film night they hold there each Tuesday evening. Filmmakers from all over Sydney come to show their short films to an eager crowd of filmmakers and film lovers alike. The night is hosted by the charismatic Mark Leonard and occasionally Garfield Bernard, who also produces a TV show on Aurora called Dark Carnival. The night showcases an eclectic range of short films from the student to the professional and every now and again welcomes special guests the caliber of Kamahl. I spent a birthday there one evening and enjoyed a few guilt free glasses of white wine to herald the quarter century. What more could one ask for? Wine and solitude on a birthday. It’s a fun night and you just might catch a film which will change your life. Like Paper Moose’s Super Hero, this Tuesday(15th).(Editors Note: I thought I told you no shameless plugs.)(Seaton’s Note: But all plugs are shameless, they have to be, how else would they be able to take being in the bathtub with strangers?)(Editors Note: Really Seaton? Really?)(Seaton’s Note: Yes.)

The stylish renovations at the Harold Park Hotel have transformed the 122 year old hotel into a pretty nice place to go. Whilst I only really head there for Trivia Wednesdays, they’re one of the few places in Sydney that still have Friday«Toss the Boss»(flip a coin, heads the drink is free, tails you pay normal price) and they’ve just started«Harold’s Shorts», a weekly short-film festival held ever y Tuesday. The chicken parmigiana and the chicken burger are great pub bites, and even better if they’re purchased with your Trivia winnings from the week before($ 80 voucher for first place, $ 40 for second, $ 20 for third), and any pub with Stowford Press Cider on tap gets my approval. But it’s the little things about The Harold that win me over — like the butchers paper and pencils on each of the bar benches(because everyone loves a spontaneous game of Pictionary) and the ‘Skulls’-esque, secret society bathrooms accessed via a secret passageway and into a cave that seems so hidden and private that you almost forget to close the door.

This is a newly refurbished pub /bistro /gaming venue in Glebe. It is away from the main arts precinct but does host a short film night every Tuesday, «harold’s shorts». This is a bit of fun they even give prizes. The food looks fantastic really well cooked pub meals. I had a bowl of wedges and mmmmm they were good. You can pick your own music from the jukebox too –hah! There is pool and the women’s bathrooms are very ornately set out with cool light fittings. I like the special touches. There is usually something or the other on here, like trivia — it’s a good place for some co-ordinated fun. The outdoor garden is worth the mention, as it’s almost like you’re indoors too, with a retractable roof to make the most of all weather, however, I doubt the place has been at full capacity as it is very sizable.
