Maybe my expectations were too high but I was left disappointed by the experience. The atmosphere was flat and I felt like I could have made the food at home to the same standard.

I’m not sure I have the requisite knowledge to comment on and compare my Singapore to my Malaysian noodles so to me ‘Fusion’ suggested it would not matter and I wouldn’t have to. I didn’t know the place existed until we were invited there but great company makes everything better. It felt a little dark upon entry, more like a bar than a restaurant, and the décor reminded me of something from yesteryear, off a Chinese/American movie, sort of Asian but also Western, something familiar but also exotic. I think the darkness bothered me but after a few minutes, a drink in my hand, and being shown to a table and a brighter space, it felt better, less enclosed. The staff were lovely and attentive. The menu was extensive, expected in their offering, so we chose a set menu and were not disappointed. We made our way through a variety of delicious dishes, nice wine and conversation, and thoroughly enjoyed our visit.

Yum! Walking into Singapore house for the first time, with a group of our friends, it was packed with people — good thing we booked ahead. The Asian décor and careful balance of lighting really set the tone for the evening. Surprisingly, even though the restaurant was full, it still felt roomy, and was quite comfortable. We decided to share everything we ordered, and there was not one complaint. We ordered: Salt and Pepper Tofu Eggplant Sambal(It was worth the trip just for this!) Baked Stuffed Mushrooms Spicy Eggplant and Potatoes Singapore Noodles(We had it without chicken as some of our group were vegetarian) Rice, of course, and some naan bread.(The kulcha naan is really tasty!) Everything was cooked perfectly, and surprisingly, was quite punctual for the amount of people there. Since then, I have gone back to Singapore House a few more times(once for my birthday!) and have still enjoyed the same Delicious food, excellent service, and eye-catching décor!

If you love stuffed animals, old antiques and the industrial look, this place is for you! Who would have thought such a strange combination of decors could work, but apparently they do at the Singapore house! Aside from the décor the food is amazing! The menu is split into two sections small plates and mains and between me and my partner we shared 3 small plates(which were actually not that small!) and one main. My favourite was the crispy beef, tangy and delicious but we also shared the sticky pork, satay chicken a salt and pepper squid. All dishes were great but while my bf liked the s/p squid it was too fishy for me. There were so many things that we wanted to try on the menu we will definitely go back!

This place was buzzing when we arrived and the low lighting and fusion of rustic-modern Asian décor worked well and set the tone for the evening. Growing up with Singaporean food, I’m always sceptical about a restaurant that claims to serve Singaporean food. A colleague of my husband had chosen the restaurant, and we were here in a large group, so we had the set menu. The menu had a broad range of dishes that should satisfy most palates, including vegetarians. And if I have to be picky, it wasn’t all«authentic» Singaporean food, but it was all delicious, so I’m not holding that against them. I would like to try the à la carte menu next time, especially the street food. The efficient and professional staff, made for a pretty seamless service considering how large our group was and they were serving a full house. Great for groups, families, and date nights(might be a bit noisy, but I think that adds to the atmosphere). Reservation is a must!

Busy and bustling on a Saturday night, Singapore House still some how manages to maintain the sense of intimacy and coziness while packed to the brim with satisfied customers! Settling in for a long over due catch up with a group of friends at Singapore house was a perfect choice — the waiters were attentive and friendly, the atmosphere was great(although I’m not 100% sold on the lighting, it’s rather low and dim and I don’t know if I like that or not!!!) and the food was great! We ordered a pot of tea(I don’t recall which flavour — possibly the China Jasmine Chung Hao) but it was beautifully presented and poured in to pretty delicate tea cups — a touch which really enhanced the experience. To eat, and to share — of course, we ordered the Crispy Beef — which was delicious and almost as good as the one from Ky Chow(a big call as this is one of my favourite things EVER!), the goat dish — which had a kind of green curry flavour to it, but was great as it was shredded rather than in chunks and went down perfectly! The Beef Rendang was one of the real highlights — aromatic and melt in your mouth delicious, it was brilliantly off set with the coconut rice that it was served with. To make sure there was plenty of food to fill our bellies we ordered a couple of garlic naan — although we didn’t really need to as there was heaps of food! The food was well shared between three(including two ravenous men) while a fourth member of our party ordered the seasonal fish — which she was very happy with! There are two choices here — street food or mains, we found that the street food choices were of an okay size — especially if you were keen to share and wanted to order some sides. For brilliant service and great food in a stylish atmosphere, the price was right and a good evening was had!

Tuesday night. the place was busy. and you can see why. Our party of four just ordered off the street menu and shared everything. Two dishes of street food each would have been sufficient. every dish a winner. service friendly and helpful… highly recommend…

Very impressed. From the minute we walked in the service was very good. Staff were attentive and sincere. All courses were of good quality and serves were generous. Recommend the pork belly and beef cheek vindaloo. Will defiantly be back. Very happy.

Refreshingly superior. How wonderful to actually appreciate the rewards of a recommendation! The food was stunning, the service was attentive, the price… well, in this case we got what we paid for and I am definitely a fan and that’s saying something because I am very discerning when it comes to my food. Just one word of advice though… you’d better book because those in the know fill the place very quickly. To all the staff… A BIGTHANKYOU.

Horrified at the quality of ‘Malaysian’ food here. As a Malaysian, I was greatly disappointed after hearing great reviews about this place. There was nothing authentic about the dishes and if you’re looking for something true to Malaysian/Singaporean cuisine, you are better off at other places.

Had such a great meal here. The«street food» is delicious & I highly recommend the BBQ pork belly which was a standout. It was extremely busy on a Saturday night & a booking is a must!

We went for dinner here on a very busy Thursday night(glad we booked). We were initially seated by the window, but it was freezing and the staff very kindly moved us. After that auspicious beginning, we carried on with excellent food and wine. I loved the street food. Kind of like Asian tapas. The décor was pretty impressive too, though I feel odd in a place paying such an homage to western colonialism. There was a wooden structure hanging from a stained glass ceiling feature that looked like it could’ve been a colonial torture device. It was a bit off-putting, tho I may have an over active imagination. Anyway, I’ll definitely go back with friends for great food and ambience and really great service(even though they were really busy).

There is a plethora of dishes here to explore, and yes, I’ll second Samantha’s suggestion — it’s best to go with friends and share your dishes around. The Rendang here is to die for, it is however on the hotter end of the scale for a Beef Rendang, which caught a good friend of mine by surprise when he followed my choice of dishes. I believe he has recovered full use of his tongue now. :) This is right round the corner from my wife’s work — kind of sad, it should be right round the corner from mine — but then it’s a great excuse to meet her and have a delicious lunch, so it’s all good. I can’t think of a dish on the menu I wouldn’t recommend — it really is a great selection — just keep in mind if they say it’s hot, it’s going to be hot.

Singapore House serves a blend of Asian and Indian. This makes sense as it is the sister restaurant to British India. Although your taste buds may be attempting to decipher what cuisine it is, they know it tastes amazing. Most dishes on the menu are curries with Asian influences. My favourite is the Eggplant sambal. The eggplant is cooked to perfection and it is spicy enough that you will down a bottle of water to yourself. You should also try the Baked stuffed mushrooms, they are mouth-watering. I would recommend getting several entrees and mains and sharing so that you are able to sample many of the options they have available. A lot of the dishes are quite strong in flavour so it is nice to mix it up as well. The interior of the restaurant has been done up extremely well. Previously it was a Mexican restaurant, with the decorating matching accordingly. Now the restaurant is a lot of dark wood, contrasting with white furniture, green plants and quirky carpet. But the most amazing feature of the restaurant is the butterfly room. Hundreds if not thousands of butterflies are in frames all over the room. It looks beautiful, in a slightly macabre way. There are tables in this room, so you can eat and admire the walls. I have never seen Singapore House extremely busy so I don’t think booking is necessary. However, to be safe I would do so if you have a large group.
