Ducked in for a quick lunch to take home… WOW what should have taken 5 mins ended up taking me 30mins. My partner was home unwell and was told no bread and so umm… yes i went to a bakery!!! What a bakery though. the quiche and veggie slice a piece of each with a caesar salad. Chicken and avocado roll, a plain mince pie. YUM. Then just to be an all rounder two shortbreads and cream donut yep for me:) A bit disappointed unfortunately with the latter shortbread was horrible no flavor and old. Cream donut the same old and hard. The service from the counter assistant was clipped and not very welcoming i felt like I was an inconvenience. Value for money with the savoury items was good. Will be back for another pie for sure!

Wonderful little bake shop! They bake their own gluten free loaves which were delightful. Any sandwich on menu they can put on the gluten free bread. I recommend the BLT. My sandwich was extremely comparable in size to that of my friends who got the BLT on regular toast(it’s far too common to order something on gluten free bread and pay more but receive a substantially smaller serving). The bread did fall apart quicker than I would have liked but the flavor was still magnificent. If we weren’t flying out that evening I would have bought a loaf — it would be amazing toasted with jam. On the gluten full standpoint, my friends all loved their various meals. The pies all looked superb and I left cursing my gluten allergy. I would really love to rate this a 4.5, but I’m rounding down to a 4 simply because it took our coffees a long time to come out, and they were in glass cups without a handle of any sort to hold on to so you couldn’t drink it without burning your fingers/hand. So I had to wait even longer to drink my coffee, and you just don’t mess with someone when it comes to their caffeine.

The coffee at this place was amazing and the vibe was really cool! I had a quiche for breakfast. It was ok but nothing spectacular… Eggs Benedict seemed to be a popular choice with other customers and it looked really good so I think I’ll give that a go next time. Please don’t let my review of the food turn you away though. This is the best coffee I’ve had in Perth!

If my friends and I ever get sick of going to Daisies for breakfasts(which, sadly, can happen), the Fremantle Bakehouse is our next favourite thing. The food is always delicious, it’s a really convenient location and the staff are the best. I have never come across anyone who isn’t friendly and helpful, I’ve never had a forgotten order and the meals are always served within a reasonable amount of time(best to try and avoid the rushes though).

Culley’s might have a bigger rep due to having been in Fremantle forever, but honestly, The Fremantle Bakehouse does better pies and bread, don’t they? Certainly the rolls are better here, crammed full of gourmet ingredients as opposed to the bare basics that make up a sandwich at their competition. The pies are spectacular; I thoroughly recommend their Cornish Pastie; the pastry is always perfectly crunchy and the vegetables inside are delicious. If you’re fussy about bread(which I’m not, but I know some people are), their fresh-baked loaves are some of the best I’ve tasted. The bakehouse also functions as a café, and the coffee is pretty good. It’s a pleasantly casual vibe and you can bring small kids here without feeling too self conscious. Located on the busy cappuccino strip, it might be a little bit difficult to get to for tradies to pop in for a quick lunch, but if you’re in the area anyway, this is one of the best bakeries around.

This place has to be one of my favourite places to eat in Fremantle, such a big call but I am putting all factors together, price, location, food quality, food choices, and a heap of other things. This place gets ticks in everyone of my boxes! It is perfect for a take away pasty or sausage roll. They sell amazing breads and cakes to take away and just when it couldn’t get much better, they have this amazing dine in prices. With café prices but high quality foods this place really is one of my favourites! Not to be missed people. Even if it is just for a coffee and cake, I can assure you, it will be good!

The seductive wafts coming from this place are enough to convert even the most ardent carb-avoiding fanatic. You’ve got to try at least one of the pastries from the Fremantle Bakehouse at least once in your lifetime. Every one of the tortas and cakes looks diabolically delicious, and the hot pastries are just as delectable. The atmosphere is always buzzing and on a Sunday it’s often hard to find a seat. Coffee is not too bad either.

If I can get my act together and head Fremantle way for an early morning trip, this bakehouse is almost always my first stop. Poached eggs on home-baked rye with a side of spinach and mushrooms sets my stomach(and heart) up for a day of bliss. The ambiance is rustic and unaffected, and the sweets range is clearly made with love. The size of the cakes says it all.

A popular café/bakery in the heart of Fremantle. They may serve fresh sandwiches, pastries, cakes and coffee but let me instill one word in your mind when it comes to this place. Pie. Let me say it again, ‘Pie’. There are many self-confessed pie connoisseurs in this city and although I am not one, it is hard to say no when walking past this pie haven. Try the chilli beef in the winter and the beef, bacon and cheese in the summer. Let the flaky pastry fall out of your mouth and reiterate this important point. ‘Pie please’. Stand up against soggy pastry and generic beef filling and let your pie shaped heart take you to the Fremantle Bakehouse. ‘Pie please’.

I love a good bakery, and Fremantle Bakehouse is just that — a good bakery. As you walk down Fremantle’s café strip, you’ll be bombarded by delicious sights and smells from the many many eateries you pass. But if what you’re after is something quick, tasty and recently removed from an oven, then point yourself in the direction of the Fremantle Bakehouse. Delicious-looking crusty loaves tempt you from the window display, and inside you’re greeted by an array of sandwiches and pies. That’s not the bit that interests me though. As a lover of cake, I find any bakery hard to resist, and this one is no exception. Cakes, pastries, muffins, tarts — so much sweet, carbohydratey goodness to choose from. The muffins are really rather good — they’re not the stodgy, squishy things you find at some other places. They’re huge, too. I haven’t had anything absolutely mind blowing from there — but then, I haven’t tried everything yet. And I’m more than happy to do that, so I’d better get eating.

There comes a time in every person’s life where you should let your nose make the decisions. As any Fremantle local knows, the hungry are offered a smorgasboard of choice when it comes to lunch time options. A wander down central Fremantle’s café strip can be slightly overwhelming for the famished, but somewhere between Soho Burgers and Time Zone, the scent of carbohydrate heaven is sure to send you salivating. Walk a few doors up, and you’ll find that Fremantle Bakehouse is the sandwich holy grail. They bake their bread and pastries fresh on site and offer a wide choice of paninis, baguettes, sour dough, rye, good old fashioned white bread, sausage rolls, pies, croissants and quiches. Those with sugar cravings can also satisfy their sweet tooth with a range of pastries worthy of a still life portrait, or indulge in their fluffy pancakes. A word of warning for the starving — the place is almost always busy so there is usually a little bit of a wait. Stick it out though, your tummy will thank you later. The thing I like most about Fremantle Bakehouse(apart from their very reasonable prices) is that they accommodate for those with allergies. Seeing as they make their livelihood from wheat-based products, those with allergies would assume a lack of love for those with temperamental tummies. Being a little sensitive to too much wheat, I find their gluten-free loaves(which are baked off-site) are amazingly fresh and well worth the little extra I pay for.
