Thai A Star Of Siam

Taking residence in the old Essex Restaurant building is Star of Siam, a delightful Thai restaurant with friendly service and an extensive Thai menu. $ 2 corkage for BYO wine.
Unfortunately, as many Thai restaurants feel they need to do, Star of Siam has adjusted the heat of their dishes for the Western palette. Always a disappointment especially when we make it clear we want «Thai hot» not «pussy Westerner hot». That said, the actual flavour of our red duck curry and thai green chicken curry was delicious — as was the coconut rice!
Price was fairly standard for Thai these days and I reckon we will definitely frequent the place again to sample more of their menu delights!
We were met with smiles and that typically friendly Thai service charged on all night — we actual battled to get out the door as the owners were keen for a chat about all things Chiang Mai. Fine by me :)
