Everyone loves a good cheap lunch, right? Taka’s fits that description perfectly. Although I usually choose my lunch from only 3 options, the menu at Taka’s is varied and will meet the tastes of nearly anyone. My go-to dish is the Teriyaki Chicken meal for $ 7.80 that comes with a bowl of miso soup. The chicken is always cooked just right and the sauce is very tasty. Can get pretty busy around lunch times but I’ve never failed to find a seat. But be prepared to sit next to or opposite a complete stranger while you eat your lunch. And if you’re lucky, you can pick up on the free Wi-Fi in the area so you don’t have to look at the stranger opposite you.

Despite many recommendations and endorsements from like-minded peeps, my own experiences to date have been rather ordinary. Actually, if I was writing the review based on one experience where I stupidly ordered the fish curry, then I’d be telling you to run away, quickly. But on previous times I’ve had ok sushi, miso and soups but I’m yet to be dazzled by their noodles. BUT, stay tuned, this review will be updated as I am determined to try this joint one more time. And I hope to report better news for lovers of Japanese cuisine.

The agadashi tofu is super lip smacking yummy and combined with some mixed tempura veggies it is quite the japanese treat. The lines here can get quite long on Friday and Saturday evenings so get in early as they run out of some dishes. Their food is very reasonably priced, especially when you consider the rice and miso soup you get along with it. Its also located in a great food court so if your dining companion isn’t a fan of janaese they can eat somewhere else.

Super cheap Japanese. Two of us usually eat for $ 24 and that includes a main and entrée dish. They pretty much serve all the Japanese classics from slippery udons to teriyaki chicken etc etc. I wouldn‘t get any of the fish meals, I‘ve tried them a few times and because the prices are so cheap the cuts of fish are understandably not great. What‘s great about the food court that Taka is located in, is you can BYO booze and eat super cheap food outdoors on a balmy summer‘s evening. If you‘re looking for some seriously cheap eats, Taka is perfect.
